Congratulations on your purchase of the STARLYF® SECURITY CAM, a small,
discreet video cam that lets you record everything that happens inside and
outside the house when you’re not at home.
Please read the instructions before using the product for the first time. Keep
these instructions in a safe place for future reference.
Features
- Compact design.
- Compatible with videos in AVI format.
- Records high-quality images even in dim lighting.
- 720p video resolution and recording at 30 frames per second.
- Compatible with micro SD cards of up to 32 GB.
- Built-in rechargeable lithium battery.
Battery charging:
The cam comes with a rechargeable lithium battery. Charge it before using the
cam for the first time. The cam will take six hours to charge the first time
and two hours after that. Charge the battery as follows:
Battery indicator:
Turn on the cam by pressing the ON/RECORD and OFF button (A) for four seconds.
If the LED pilot light (B) stays red, the battery is charged. When the red
light starts blinking, the battery is running out. We recommend charging the
battery as soon as possible.
Charging on the computer:
Plug one end of the USB cable (L) into the charge port (H) on the cam (Figure
3) and the other end into the USB port on the computer (Figure 4). While the
cam is charging, the LED pilot light (B) will blink alternately red and blue.
While the cam is charging on the computer, it will NEVER record at the same
time.
Recording and charging the battery at the same time:
To record and charge at the same time, YOU WILL ALWAYS have to charge using a
mains plug (not included). We recommend purchasing the Starlyf® Security Cam
plug, which comes with a 180 cm cable so the cam can be placed where you want
it.
-
To record and charge the cam in a mains socket, we recommend using the swivel clip (I) and the attachment clip (K) to firmly attach the cam (Figure 5). Follow the directions below for assembling the swivel clip and the attachment clip.
-
When the cam is firmly attached to the swivel clip and the attachment clip (see Figure 6), plug one end of the USB cable (L) into the charge port (H) and the other end into the wall socket (Figure 7).
-
While the cam is charging in the wall socket, the red LED pilot light (B) will blink every three seconds.
While the cam is charging in the wall socket, the cam is charging and recording at the same time. -
When the cam is fully charged, the LED pilot light (B) will stay red.
Note:
When you record and take pictures, always make sure the cam is in the right
position so that the image does not need to be rotated. When the lens is
pointing at you, the button (A) should be on your right. See Figure 2.
Video recording:
The Starlyf® Security Cam works with micro SD cards (not included). We
recommend purchasing Starlyf® Security Cam SD cards.
- Insert the memory card (F) into the micro SD card slot (G). Insert the card perpendicular to the cam slot. (See Figure 8)
- Press the ON/RECORD and OFF button (A) for four seconds. The red LED pilot light (B) will come on and the cam will start recording when it detects movement.
The Starlyf® Security Cam will automatically start loop recording for more
efficient use of the memory card. When no movement is detected for one minute,
the cam will stay on, but will stop recording.
Night mode: The Starlyf® Security Cam records when it detects movement, even
in the dark. Its infrared lights (D) are activated, but not visible.
Photo mode:
- When the cam is in video mode (red LED pilot light), press the ON/RECORD and OFF buttons (A) for two seconds. The LED pilot light will turn blue when the cam is ready to take photos. Take photos by quickly pressing the photo button.
- To go back to video mode, press the ON/RECORD and OFF button (A) for two seconds. The red LED pilot light (B) will come on and the cam will start recording when it detects movement.
Downloading photos and videos:
- Press the memory card with your fingertip. Once the card ejects from the camera, remove it and insert it into a card reader (not supplied). Connect the card reader to the computer.
- If you do not have a card reader, you can connect the cam to the computer using the USB cable (L). See Figures 3 and 4.
- A folder will then be created where you can view, save and delete the videos and photos recorded with the Starlyf® Security Cam.
Tips:
- a. If the cam is connected to the computer but is not recognized or the removable disk icon is not visible in 30 seconds, try connecting it again.
- b. We recommend copying and deleting the video file and saving it on the computer. This will provide for smoother viewing.
Assembling the swivel clip (I) and attachment clip (K)
Attachment clip (K):
- Place the back part of the cam against the attachment clip (K) and press gently to attach it. Make sure the clip slides into the grooves at the top and bottom on the back of the cam. See Figure 9. It is properly attached when you hear a click.
- The clip on the attachment clip can be used to firmly attach the cam to clothing (see Figure 10) and other items. Ensure the cam is in the right recording position.
- To remove the camera from the attachment clip (K), remove it by pressing the upper parts of the clip with the fingernail. (See Fig. 18)

- Attach the swivel clip (I) to your surface. Press to ensure it is firmly attached. See Figure 15.
Attaching with screws:
The swivel clip can be attached using the screws (M) and anchors (N) supplied.
-
Make two holes in the wall of the right diameter for the two anchors (N) after carefully measuring the distance between the holes.
-
Place the anchors in the holes.
-
Place the swivel clip on top so that both holes are aligned with the holes with the anchors.
-
Attach using the two screws (M).
When the swivel clip is attached to the surface: -
Clip the attachment clip (K) with the cam to the swivel clip. See Figure 16.
-
The swivel clip has many different positions. Point the cam where you want to record a video or take a photo. See Figure 17.
Reset mode
If the cam does not work due to improper use or for unknown reasons, it should
be reset.
