AFTER COOKING…
  • Do not use whisks or metal/sharp utensils. Do not use a hand blender directly in the pot. Do not drain your utensils by tapping on the rim of the pot, as this may damage it and cause leaks.

  • Gradually turn the operating valve (A) to select your preferred pressure release speed, so that it faces the symbol on the pictogram – Fig 10. If, when the steam is released, you observe any food or liquid start to spray out, reposition the operating valve (A) to the “pressure cooker” mode position, then instead rapidly release the pressure by standing the pressure cooker pot in a sink half filled with cold water. (see the “End of cooking in ‘Pressure cooker’ mode” paragraph).

  • If the pressure indicator (D) does not go down, place your pressure cooker in cold water – (see the “End of cooking in ‘Pressure cooker’ mode” paragraph.)

  • Never interfere with the pressure indicator.

  • For thick foods that swell in size and/or froth up during cooking, such as rice, pulses, dried beans, stewed fruit, pumpkin, courgettes, carrots, potatoes, fish fillets, etc. Let your pressure cooker cool for a few minutes, then cool it down in cold water. Always shake the pressure cooker lightly before opening each time, after having checked that the pressure indicator is fully lowered, in order to avoid any splashes from bursting steam bubbles, which could burn you. This is particularly important when
releasing steam quickly or after cooling the appliance in cold water.

  • Move your pressure cooker with maximum care. Do not touch hot surfaces. Use oven gloves, if necessary. Use both the handles when moving the pressure cooker.

  • For soups, we recommend that you release the pressure rapidly in cold water (see the “End of cooking in ‘Pressure cooker’ mode” paragraph).

  • Make sure the operating valve (A) is in the pressure-release position before opening your pressure cooker. The pressure indicator (D) must be in the down position. Never force open your pressure cooker. Make sure that the internal pressure has been released. The pressure indicator (D) must be in the down position. (See the “Safety” paragraph).

MAINTENANCE

  • If you notice that any part of your pressure cooker is broken or cracked, do not try to open it if it is closed. Wait for it to cool completely before moving it, stop using it and return it to a Tefal approved service centre for repair. Do not tamper with the safety systems yourself, beyond the cleaning and maintenance instructions.
  • Use only genuine Tefal parts that correspond to your model.
  • Do not leave food in your pressure cooker.
  • Clean and rinse your pressure cooker immediately after each use.
  • Never put the operating valve (A), seal (l) or pot in the dishwasher.
  • Never use bleach or chlorine products, which could affect the quality of the pot.
  • Do not let the lid soak in water.
  • Change the seal once a year or immediately, if it shows signs of cracking.
  • You must have your pressure cooker checked at an Tefal approved service centre after 10 years of use.
  • To store your pressure cooker: Turn the lid over and rest on the pot, to prevent the lid seal from becoming prematurely worn.

COOKING IN “PRESSURE COOKER” MODE

  • Turn the operating valve (A) to the “pressure cooker” cooking position Fig 9. The pressure cooker operates at 65kPa/9 lbs (psi).
  • Make sure that your pressure cooker is closed properly before use – Fig 2. Place your pressure cooker on a suitable heat source, then set it to maximum power.
  • The clicking sounds and jets of steam emitted by the pressure indicator are normal, as they allow air to escape before cooking.

WHEN COOKING IN “PRESSURE COOKER” MODE

  • When the operating valve (A) continuously releases steam that emits a steady sound (PSCHHHT), reduce the heat.
  • Then start counting down the cooking time indicated in the recipe.
  • Make sure that the valve ‘whispers’ regularly during the cooking process.
If not enough steam is released, increase the heat slightly. If there is too much steam, reduce it.

END OF COOKING IN “PRESSURE COOKER” MODE

To release the steam:

  • Once the heat has been turned off, you have two options:

  • Gradual pressure release: gradually turn the operating valve (A) so that it faces the symbol on the pictogram – Fig 10.Tefal-Chefclub-ClipsoMinut-Duo-14
If, when releasing the steam, you observe any food or liquid start to spray out, return the operating valve (A) to the “pressure cooker” cooking position then perform a rapid pressure release in cold water.
If the pressure indicator (D) does not go down, run cold water in your sink and immerse the bottom of your pressure cooker in it until the pressure indicator (D) goes down.

  • Rapid pressure release in cold water: run cold water in your sink and immerse the bottom of your pressure cooker in it until the pressure indicator goes down. When the pressure indicator (D) goes down, your pressure cooker is no longer under pressure. Turn the operating valve (A) to position .Tefal-Chefclub-ClipsoMinut-Duo-15

Always shake the pressure cooker lightly before opening each time, after having checked that the pressure indicator is fully lowered, in order to avoid bursting any steam bubbles, which could burn you. This is particularly important when releasing steam quickly or after cooling in cold water. For soups, we recommend that you perform a rapid pressure release in cold water (see the Figure in Step 1 above).

  • You can open your pressure cooker – Fig 3.

  • If you have difficulty opening the pressure cooker: run the seal under water and put it back in the lid without wiping it – Fig 17 and make sure to place it under the notches in the lid – Fig 13 .
Never tamper with the pressure indicator (D).

COOKING IN “STEWPOT” MODE

  • Turn the operating valve (A) to the “Stewpot” cooking position . To do this, apply sufficient force to go beyond the notch in the pressure release position.
  • Make sure that your pressure cooker is properly closed – Fig 2 before use.
  • Place your pressure cooker on a suitable heat source and set it to a low heat.
  • Then start counting down the cooking time indicated in the recipe.
  • In “Stewpot” mode, you can open your pressure cooker at any time to stir the contents, monitor the cooking progress or add ingredients.
  • If you have difficulty opening the pressure cooker: run the seal under water and put it back in the lid without wiping it – Fig 17 and make sure to place it under the notches in the lid – Fig 13.
  • If the heat is too high, the pressure cooker may lock (the pressure indicator (D) rises and blocks the opening) and the lid handle cannot be operated or you cannot open the pressure cooker. In this case, reduce or turn off the heat. For cast iron electric hobs, to open the lid, remove the pressure cooker from the heat source.
  • Do not use whisks or metal/sharp utensils. Do not use a hand blender directly in the pot. Do not drain your utensils by tapping on the rim of the pot, as this may damage it and cause leaks.
  • Never heat fat until it carbonises. The fumes released during cooking may be dangerous for animals with sensitive respiratory systems, such as birds. We recommend that bird owners keep their birds away from the cooking area.
SAFETY

Your pressure cooker is equipped with several safety features:

Safe closing:

  • If the lid is incorrectly positioned or you forget to lower the lid handle, steam leaks from your pressure cooker’s pressure indicator (D) and it cannot build up pressure

Safe opening:

  • If your pressure cooker is under pressure, the pressure indicator (D) is in the up position and the lid handle (G) must not be opened or closed.
  • Never try to force open your pressure cooker.
  • Never tamper with the pressure indicator (D).
  • Ensure that the internal pressure has dropped by checking that the pressure indicator (D) is down.
  • The pot’s handles are safety components. Make sure you never replace them yourself. Never use other models of handles.
  • If you have tilted the open/close lid handle (G) to the upright position while the pressure cooker was still under pressure, you cannot open it. This function is an additional safety mechanism.
  • Return the lid handle to the horizontal position and wait for the pressure indicator (D) to move to the lower position.

Two safety features for over-pressurisation:

  • First feature: the safety valve (E) releases the pressure – Fig 18.
  • Second feature: the seal allows steam to escape from the lid – Fig 18.

If one of the over-pressurisation safety systems is triggered:

  • Turn off the heat.
  • Leave your pressure cooker to cool completely.
  • Open it.
  • Check and clean the operating valve (A), the steam release vent (B), the safety valve (E) and the seal (I) Fig.14 – 15 – 16 . Refer to the “Cleaning” and ” Compulsory checks before each use” paragraphs.
  • If, after these checks and cleaning, your product leaks or is no longer working, take it to a Tefal Approved Service Centre.
CLEANING

For your pressure cooker to operate correctly, ensure that you follow these cleaning and maintenance recommendations after each use.

  • Do not worry should it start to brown or scratch after extensive use.
  • Wear on the outer coating due to the contact between the lid and pot is normal.
  • Slight scratches and abrasions that may appear with use do not affect the non-stick performance of the coating.
  • Wash your pressure cooker after each use with lukewarm water and washing-up liquid. Do the same for the basket.
  • Do not use bleach or chlorine products.
  • Do not overheat the pot when it is empty.

To clean the inside of the pot:

  • Wash the pot by hand using only hot water, washing-up liquid and a soft sponge.
  • Do not use scouring powder or abrasive sponges.
  • If food has burned, fill the pot with hot water and let it soak. Then clean with washing-up liquid and hot water.

To clean the outside of the pot:

  • Wash with a sponge, washing-up liquid and hot water.
  • The basket is dishwasher-safe.
  • Do not put the pot in the dishwasher, as the detergents in dishwasher tablets contain very aggressive substances and are corrosive to the aluminium parts.
  • Prolonged use of the pot may slightly alter the colour of the coating (yellowing, staining).

To clean the lid:

  • Wash the lid with a sponge and washing-up liquid.
  • Hold the lid vertically to drain the water remaining between the metal and plastic parts of the lid.

To clean the lid seal:

  • After cooking each time, clean the seal (I) and its housing.
  • To replace the seal, please refer to – Fig 13 and make sure that the seal is correctly passed under each of the notches in the lid.

To clean the operating valve (A):Tefal-Chefclub-ClipsoMinut-
Duo-18

  • Remove the operating valve (A) – Fig 11.
  • Clean the operating valve (A) under running tap water – Fig 14.
  • Check its mobility: see opposite.

After removing the operating valve (A) and the seal (I), you can put the lid in the dishwasher.
Never put the operating valve (A), seal (l) or pot in the dishwasher.

To clean the steam release vent (B) on the lid:

  • Remove the valve (A) – Fig 11.
  • Check that the steam release vent is unblocked and round – Fig 12. If necessary, clean it with a toothpick – Fig 15 and rinse it.

To clean the safety valve (E):

  • Clean the part of the safety valve located inside the lid by passing it under running water.
  • Check that it is operating correctly by pushing down on the lock indicator several times with your finger, as it must be movable – Fig 16. See the “Mandatory checks before each use” paragraph.

GOLDEN RULES WHEN PRESSURE COOKING

(FOR UK CONSUMERS)

  • The minimum quantity of liquid required for normal cooking is 250 ml (½ pint) for the first ¼ hour cooking. For each additional ¼ hour, or part of ¼ hour, add a further 150 ml (¼ pint) of liquid. For example, 45 minutes cooking requires 600 ml (1 pint) of liquid. Note: This is only a general guide. Certain foods, such as rice, pulses, steamed puddings and Christmas puddings may require extra water (see details below).
  • When steaming foods in the basket use a minimum of 750 ml (1¼ pint)water in the cooker.
  • Always use a liquid that gives off steam when boiled e.g. water stock, wine, beer, cider. Never use oil or fat. All pressure cooking requires some liquid.
  • The maximum filling level when all the ingredients and liquid have been added are:
    • Solid foods e.g. vegetables, meat joints: no more than two-thirds full (MAX 2 mark).
    • Liquid and cereals e.g. soups, stews, cereal and pasta: not more than half full.
    • Pulses e.g dried beans and dried peas, rice stewed fruit, compotes, pumpkin, courgette and potatoes: no more than one-third full (MAX 1 mark)
  • When cooking pulses they swell up and tend to froth up. Use 1.2 litres (2 pints) water for every 450 g (1 lb) pre-soaked weight of pulses. Remember all dried peas and dried beans, must be soaked in boiling water for 1 hour before cooking. Drain, rinse thoroughly and cook in fresh water. Never eat uncooked beans or peas. Soaking is not necessary for red lentils. The high temperatures achieved in the pressure cooker ensure that any natural toxins in the pulses are destroyed. Canned beans and pulses can simply be drained and rinsed before adding to the pressure cooker.
  • For steamed suet puddings, sponge puddings or Christmas puddings, a short pre-steaming time is best to enable the raising agent to activate and prevent a heavy, close texture. Extra liquid is required so use a minimum of 1½ pint/900 ml of boiling water for a combined steaming and cooking time of up to 1 hour. For each additional ¼ hour of cooking, or part of ¼ hour, add a further ¼ pint/150 ml of boiling water. Pre-steaming is done with the operating valve in the steam release position on a low heat for the required time. Then turn the operating valve to , and increase the heat to bring to full pressure. Lower the heat and pressure cook for the required time.
  • Pressure cooking operates at 65 kPa (9psi/9lbs).
  • Never cook dumplings with the lid tightly closed, as they could rise up and block the safety devices. Cook the stew and at the end of cooking, release the steam and cook gently for about 10 – 15 minutes without the lid on.
  • Pressure cooking times vary according to the size of individual pieces or thickness of the food, not the weight.
  • Cooking containers must withstand temperatures of 130°C (250°F). Any covering on containers, e.g. foil, greaseproof paper, must be securely tied otherwise they could block the safety devices. Do not use plastic lids as they prevent steam from being in contact with the food. Also, they could distort and come off during cooking which could block the safety outlets.
  • Accurate timing is essential when pressure cooking to prevent overcooking, especially with vegetables, fruit and fish.
  • Never make milk-based recipes (such as rice pudding, semolina pudding..) when pressure cooking using animal milk such as cows, goats, sheep milk, etc..
