  • Do not recharge normal, non-rechargeable batteries; there is a risk of explosion!
  • Please pay attention to the correct polarity (plus/+ and minus/-) when inserting the battery.

Installation and start-up

Mounting the control unit
Before you start the installation, keep in mind that the IR receiver of the control unit must be placed so that a flawless reception of the control signals from the IR remote control is possible.

A direct optical contact between the IR LED of the IR remote control and the IR receiver is beneficial; however, it is not a prerequisite. The IR light (invisible to the human eye) of the IR remote control is reflected by many surfaces.
Before you proceed to the permanent mounting of the control unit and the IR receiver, check that they function properly.

  • The control unit can be screwed tight via two eyes located on the sides of the housing. Depending on the mounting site, you can also fasten the control unit using cable ties or a double-sided adhesive tape such as the supplied 3M tape.
When you screw the control unit into place, make sure that no cable or pipes are damaged when drilling and tightening the screws.

  • Fasten the IR receiver of the control unit to a suitable place, e.g. by using a strip of adhesive tape or a cable tie.

Installing the LED stri p

  • The LED strip can be mounted on suitable surfaces, such as furniture or similar objects, using the adhesive tape located on the bottom side.
The LED strip must be mounted in such a way that it is not exposed to mechanical stress. It may not be mounted in such a way that someone can step on it; that will damage it.

  • Carefully clean the surface onto which you want to mount the LED strip from dust, dirt and grease before mounting; otherwise the adhesive tape will come off the surface.

  • Remove part of the protective strip and stick the LED strip onto the mounting surface one section at a time. However, do not use force when pressing down.

    • The LED strip can be cut at the marked points. The connection cables provided can be used to restore the electrical connection between the individual LED strip sections.

Connecting the LED strip to the control unit
Connect the 4-pin connection of the LED strip to the corresponding 4-pin socket of the control unit.

The plug on the control unit should normally be inserted so that the arrow is pointing to the “+” marking on the LED strip. If the LED strip does not turn on, switch off the power supply and rotate the plug by 180°.

The plug connection can be protected from unintentional disconnection by using a strip of adhesive tape.

Connecting the wall plug transformer

  • Connect the round low voltage plug of the wall plug transformer to the corresponding round socket on the control unit.
  • Connect the wall plug transformer to a proper mains socket of the public supply network.

Inserting the battery into the IR remote control

  • Open the battery compartment of the IR remote control and insert a battery of type “CR2025”, paying attention to the correct polarity (pay attention to plus/+ and minus/-). Close the battery compartment again.
  • The battery needs replacing if the range of the IR remote control decreases or if the control unit no longer responds to the remote control.

Basic functions of the IR remote control

Point the LED on the front of the IR remote control at the IR receiver of the control unit and press the corresponding button.

Maintenance and cleaning

  • Apart from the occasional battery change for the IR remote control, the product is maintenance-free.
The built-in LED bulbs are permanently installed; they cannot be replaced.

  • Before you clean the product, disconnect it from the mains voltage. Pull the wall plug transformer from the mains socket.

  • The outside of the product should only be cleaned with a clean, soft, dry cloth.

Do not use aggressive cleaning agents or chemical solutions for this could damage the housing (discolouring) or impair the operation.

Disposal

Product This symbol must appear on any electrical and electronic equipment placed on the EU market. This symbol indicates that this device should not be disposed of as unsorted municipal waste at the end of its service life.
Owners of WEEE (Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment) shall dispose of it separately from unsorted municipal waste. Spent batteries and accumulators, which are not enclosed by the WEEE, as well as lamps that can be removed from the WEEE in a non-destructive manner, must be removed by end users from the WEEE in a non-destructive manner before it is handed over to a collection point.

Distributors of electrical and electronic equipment are legally obliged to provide free take-back of waste. Conrad provides the following return options free of charge (more details on our website):

  • in our Conrad offices
  • at the Conrad collection points
  • at the collection points of public waste management authorities or the collection points set up by manufacturers or distributors within the meaning of the ElektroG

End users are responsible for deleting personal data from the WEEE to be disposed of.
It should be noted that different obligations about the return or recycling of WEEE may apply in countries outside of Germany.

(Rechargeable) batteries
Remove batteries/rechargeable batteries, if any, and dispose of them separately from the product. According to the Battery Directive, end users are legally obliged to return all spent batteries/rechargeable batteries; they must not be disposed of in the normal household waste.

****Batteries/rechargeable batteries containing hazardous substances are labelled with this symbol to indicate that disposal in household waste is forbidden. The abbreviations for heavy metals in batteries are: Cd = Cadmium, Hg = Mercury, Pb = Lead (name on (rechargeable) batteries, e.g. below the trash icon on the left).

Used (rechargeable) batteries can be returned to collection points in your municipality, our stores or wherever (rechargeable) batteries are sold. You thus fulfil your statutory obligations and contribute to environmental protection.

Batteries/rechargeable batteries that are disposed of should be protected against short circuit and their exposed terminals should be covered completely with insulating tape before disposal. Even empty batteries/rechargeable batteries can contain residual energy that may cause them to swell, burst, catch fire or explode in the event of a short circuit.
