ICY BOX IB-180MC-C31 Docking Station for M.2 NVMe and SATA SSD

Cleaning the device

IMPORTANT: Harmful cleaning agents
Scratches, discolouration, damage caused by moisture or short circuit in the device

  • Disconnect the device prior to cleaning
  • Aggressive or intense cleaning agents and solvents are unsuitable
  • Make sure there is no residual moisture after cleaning
  • We recommend cleaning devices using a dry, anti-static cloth

Installation

ATTENTION! When installing or uninstalling the M.2 SSD, make sure that the IB-180MC-C31 is always switched off (press ON/OFF button, power LED lights up red) or disconnected from the host computer to avoid data loss.

  1. Install the rubber fixation to your required position (42/60/80 mm): Put the rubber fixation through the large hole and push it into the smaller area of the hole HINT: If you use an M.2 NVMe SSD please use the heat sink for optimal cooling of your installed M.2 SSD.
    Install a thermal pad on your M.2 SSD. Make sure that all foils are removed first. Put the aluminium heat sink on the thermal pad on the M.2 SSD.Fix the assembly with both rubber rings provided.

  2. Put the M.2 SSD to the M.2 socket in an angle of about 30°.ICY-BOX-Docking-Station-for-M.2-NVM-and-SATA-SSD-3

  3. Pull the rubber fixation to the rear and push the M.2 SSD down in position. Release the rubber fixation. The SSD is now locked in place. ICY-BOX-Docking-Station-for-M.2-NVM-and-SATA-SSD-4

  4. Connect the cable with the USB Type-C® plug to the IB-180MC-C31.

  5. Connect the cable with the Type-C® or Type-A plug to your host computer.

  6. Once the IB-180MC-C31 is connected to the host computer the power LED lights up red.

  7. Press the ON/OFF button to power the device. The power LED lights up white.ICY-BOX-Docking-Station-for-M.2-NVM-and-SATA-SSD-6

  8. To deinstall the M.2 SSD please press the ON/OFF button again to power off the IB-180MC-C31 (power LED red).
    Please await the end of read/write operations before switching off the device to avoid data loss.

Usage

  • Power LED red – Power OFF
  • Power LED white – Power ON
  • Please await the end of read/write operations before disconnecting the device to avoid data loss.
  • A new SSD must first be initialised, partitioned and formatted by the operating system to be recognised by the system.
  • If the drive is not recognised instantly by the operating system, please check:
    • if the driver software is installed (USB).
    • if the SSD is initialised, partitioned and formatted.
  • The full USB 3.2 (Gen 2) transfer rate of up to 10 Gbit/s can only be achieved with a compatible USB 3.2 (Gen 2) port on your host computer. The IB-180MC-C31 is downwards compatible with USB 3.2 (Gen 1) and USB 2.0. USB 3.2 (Gen 2) is equivalent to USB 3.1 (Gen 2) and USB 3.1.
