OPERATION

Vacuum cleaning

WARNING:
Check the vacuum cleaner and the power cord each time before use. A damaged appliance must not be used. There is danger of injury.
ATTENTION:
Only use the vacuum cleaner with all filters intact, in dry condition and correctly placed. Make sure that the openings of the vacuum cleaner are not clogged or obstructed. Otherwise the vacuum cleaner might be damaged.

NOTE:
Your vacuum cleaner is equipped with a safety switch to prevent overheating. It automatically cuts off the power supply if the motor overheats. If this happens, switch off the vacuum cleaner and disconnect it from the mains supply. Remove the cause of the overheating. Wait for about 45 minutes. After it has cooled off, you may use the vacuum cleaner again.

  1. Attach the desired nozzle. See section 2.3, “Using other nozzles (accessories)”.

  2. Pull out the power cord until the yellow marking is visible (Fig. 10/1). WARNING:
**** If the red marking shows (Fig. 10/2) retract the cord by pressing the retract button to rewind the cable (Fig. 11/2) back to the yellow mark. Otherwise the power cord could be damaged. There is danger of an electric shock.

    – Carpet (Fig 12/B)

  5. When using the vacuum cleaner, pull it after you like a sleigh. Follow the respective recommendations of the flooring manufacturers. NOTE:
The bypass vent (Fig. 13/1) lets you quickly reduce the suction power if less power is needed, or to release objects accidentally sucked in.

You can adjust the suction power to suit the type of floor being cleaned. Use the symbols on the suction power display as a guide (Fig 14/1):

Replacing the dust filter bag

Replace the dust filter bag as soon as the electronic dust filter bag replacement indicator (Fig. 14/1) shows red or the suction power has decreased.
ATTENTION:
Before leaving the vacuum cleaner unattended, switch off the appliance and follow the instructions in section 3.3, “Switching off and retracting power cord”. Otherwise the appliance could be damaged.

  1. Open the dust compartment cover by unlatching and raising it (Fig. 18).

  2. Raise the dust compartment cover until it locks in the highest position and remains open by itself.
    NOTE:
Take care when removing the dust filter bag so that no dust escapes.

  3. Pull the dust filter bag up and out of the dust filter holder (Fig. 19).

  4. Remove any dust that may have collected in the dust compartment.
    NOTE:
You can dispose of the dust filter bag with your regular domestic waste if it contains no prohibited waste materials.

  5. Fit the new dust filter bag into the filter bag holder.

  6. Close the dust compartment cover. It clicks into place audibly.
    NOTE:
The dust compartment cover can only be closed with a dust filter bag in place.

Replacing filters

Your vacuum cleaner is equipped with the following filters:

  • Motor protection filter (Fig. 20/1 ) Prevents larger particles from destroying the motor if the dust filter bag is defective. When to replace: Every time you open a new box of dust filter bags, as they always contain a new motor protection filter, but at least every 6 months.

Hygienic exhaust filter (Fig. 20/2) Removes microscopic particles from the exhaust air stream. When to replace: Every 6 months.
The filters can become clogged with time and reduce the appliance’s performance. This is why it is important to adhere to the above replacement intervals.
Damaged filters must be removed immediately. ATTENTION: These filters are washable.

NOTE: If the motor protection filter is only slightly dirty, it can help to beat out the dust over a dustbin. However, we recommend that you replace the motor protection filter each time you open a new box of dust filter bags.

Exhaust HEPA Filter Replacement

WARNING! Ensure that the cleaner is disconnected from the power supply before performing any maintenance procedures. The Exhaust HEPA filter is installed behind the air outlet grill. This filter is washable. When dust or dirt is visible on the surface of the HEPA filter, the filter should be replaced or washed with warm water to maintain optimal performance. It is recommended to replace the HEPA filter every 6 months or when it becomes visibly dirty.

This may vary depending on frequency of use. Please ensure all filters have been correctly installed into the machine before use.

  1. Press the Exhaust Filter Release Button to access the Exhaust HEPA Filter.
  2. Remove the filter by pulling on the filter tabs as shown.
Replacing the motor protection filter
  1. Switch off the vacuum cleaner and remove the dust filter bag as described in section 4.1, “Replacing the dust filter bag”, steps 1 through 4.
  2. Remove the filter holder with motor protection filter (Fig. 22/1 ). First, flip the filter holder forwards, then pull the filter up and out.
  3. Remove the motor protection filter (Fig. 23/1) from the filter holder (Fig. 23/2) over a dustbin.
  4. Clean the filter holder.
  5. If the new motor protection filter is too large, lay the the old filter onto the new filter mat. Mark the outline and cut the new filter down to size with a pair of scissors.
  6. Insert the new motor protection filter into the filter holder.
  7. Insert the filter holder with the new filter into its bracket from above and push it down until it audibly locks into place.
  8. Replace the dust filter bag and close the dust compartment cover. The cover clicks into place audibly.
Cleaning the housing

WARNING:
Always switch off the appliance and disconnect it from the mains supply before cleaning it. See section 3.3, “Switching off and retracting power cord”.
