Cleaning Instructions

FIRST TIME USE OF THE EUPHORIA PLUS

  • Disassemble the parts that come in contact with the breast and breast milk.
  • Wash all of them in warm soapy water using any fragrance-free baby liquid dish detergent.
  • Rinse each piece thoroughly with warm water for 10 to 15 seconds.
  • You may sanitize the parts through a sterilization method of your choice, but not more than 3 minutes.

HOW TO CLEAN THE EUPHORIA PLUS

  • Rinse each part that comes in contact with the body and/or milk with cool water immediately after pumping. This avoids the build-up of milk residue in the collection bottles and parts to avoid the growth of any bacteria.
  • Parts that come in contact with the breast and breast milk are bottles, breast shields, silicone cushions, and silicone diaphragms. Wash all of them in warm soapy water using any fragrance-free baby liquid dish detergent.
  • Use a separate cleaning sponge and bottle brush with a smaller brush to reach the tiny nooks of the pump. Wash the parts separately from adult dishes, pots, and pans, etc.
  • Rinse each piece thoroughly with warm water for 10 to 15 seconds. You may sanitize the parts through a sterilization method of your choice every each use, but not more than 3 minutes. Excessive and frequent boiling or exposure to heat may cause wear and tear to the plastic and silicone parts.
  • Make sure that you check on wear and tear on tubes, and all plastic or silicone parts.
  • Replace worn out or damaged parts immediately as this will affect the suction.
  • Parts may also be washed in the dishwasher using the top rack. Place all the cleaned parts on top of a paper towel or hang on a drying rack and allow to air dry. Avoid using cloth towels because they can carry germs and bacteria that may contaminate the breast milk.
  • Make sure that all parts are totally dry prior to use. Wet or damp parts will cause poor suction. Once all the parts are totally dry, re-assemble the breast shield set.

CLEANING THE TUBES

  • Euphoria Plus is a Closed System, therefore cleaning the tubes is not necessary. If you happen to see moisture in the tubes after pumping, remove the tubes from the breast shields. Turn the motor on for a few minutes until the moisture is gone.

CLEANING THE MOTOR

  • Sanitize the pump motor using any disinfectant wipes by wiping off the tubing connector jack from time to time. Wipe the pump with a clean, damp cloth or paper towel prior to each use.

SAFETY RECOMMENDATIONS

  • Make sure to wash your hands prior to touching the breast pump and the breast pump parts.
  • Avoid touching the inner part of the collection bottle where breast milk comes in contact.
  • Wash all the parts that come in contact with your breasts and breast milk immediately after each use to avoid the growth of any bacteria from the milk residue.
  • The Electrical Unit must never be exposed to water or other liquids for cleaning, it must not be sterilized in a microwave sterilizer.

STORING BREASTMILK:

  • Wash bottles and pumping supplies in hot soapy water or in the dishwasher
  • Wash your hands prior to handling your breast pump kit and starting a pumping session
  • Breastmilk can be stored in clean BPA-Free plastic bottles with tight-fitting lids
  • You may also use BPA-Free breastmilk storage bags.

AFTER EACH PUMPING SESSION:

  • Date your container. If you are giving the breastmilk to a childcare provider, label the container with your child’s name on it.
  • Gently swirl the container to mix the breastmilk. It is normal for breastmilk to separate.
  • Refrigerate or chill your milk right after pumping.
  • Never store milk on the shelves of the refrigerator door.

FREEZING BREASTMILK:

  • Leave an inch or so of space at the top of the container. Milk expands as it freezes.
  • Store milk in the back of the freezer. Do not store milk on the shelves of the freezer door.
  • Chill freshly pumped milk before adding it to frozen milk.

THAWING AND WARMING MILK:

  • Use the oldest stored breastmilk first.
  • Breastmilk does not need to be warmed. It can be served at room temperature or cold.
  • If you do warm your milk, swirl it (DO NOT SHAKE). Test the breastmilk temperature by dropping some to your wrist, making sure it is not too warm for your baby.
  • Thaw frozen milk in the refrigerator overnight or under warm running water. You may also thaw milk in a container of warm water.
  • Never microwave breast milk. Microwaving creates hot spots which can bum your baby’s mouth.
  • Use thawed breastmilk within 24 hours.
  • Never refreeze thawed breastmilk.

Troubleshooting Tips

WEAK SUCTION OR NO SUCTION:

  • All parts must be totally dry and not damp.
  • Frequent use or improper sterilization method can cause aging on silicone cushions. If the silicone cushion has aged and is worn out, replace it immediately.
  • Make sure that the silicone cushion on each pump fits tightly into the breast shield. The silicone cushions have edges that should mold perfectly across the flange edges. A silicone cushion not snugly attached will cause poor suction.
  • Make sure that the silicone diaphragm is properly attached to the breast shield body.
  • Check that all connections are tight which will cause any air leak.
  • Check that tubes are not wet, damped, bent, or twisted.
  • Tubes must be straightened to ensure proper airflow.
  • Make sure that there is no dried-up milk residue in the tubes. If you notice any milk residue, clean the tubes and air dry. (Follow Proper Cleaning Instructions from this Manual) If you notice any water condensation or milk inside the tubes, dean and air dry.
  • Tubes must always be dry and checked prior to each use. Wet tubes, Damp tubes will cause poor suction.
  • Worn-out tubes with holes will cause poor suction. Replace immediately if worn out.
  • Check to make sure that the breast shield is well secured and tightly fastened to the tubing connector.
  • Check that tubing connector ends are tight and connected well with the tubes, the breast pump motor, and the breast shield.

‘All the above instructions must be followed. Failure to follow any of these instructions will lead to a weak suction or no suction at all.
THE BREAST PUMP IS WORKING BUT NO BREASTMILK IS COMING OUT:

  • You might be experiencing breast engorgement. Place a warm towel on the engorged breast.
  • Use thumb massage from the bottom of your breast up to your nipple for 10-15 minutes. Try doing this before starting a pumping session.
  • You might have an abundance of milk. Using your hand, try to squeeze some milk out before using the breast pump.
  • It is recommended to pump every 2 to 3 hours, including breastfeeding hours. If you are still in postnatal care, you must pump on each breast for 15 minutes according to your milk secretion.
  • Do not pump for more than 30 minutes to avoid hurting your breast
  • If you have large breasts, hold and massage gently while pumping milk to help with the milk flow.

* if all the above steps have been followed and you are still having problems, please call Bellema or visit us at www.bellemausa.com to watch some of our troubleshooting videos.
DEVICE NOT POWERING ON:**

  • Check on your power outlet by plugging another electrical device. Make sure the power outlet source is working.
  • Make sure that your Power Adaptor is connected properly with the breast pump unit.
  • Make sure the battery is fully charged. If it works on the battery power, you might have a defective AC adaptor.

MILK OVERFLOW PREVENTION:
Euphoria Plus is a dosed system breast pump, designed with a barrier so that milk will not enter the tubes. Below are some measures to avoid milk backflow:

  • Adjust the pumping power to a lesser level if your breastmilk is relatively abundant.
  • Try releasing the pressure between your breast and the silicone cushion if you notice that the milk Is all gathered inside the flange and is not streaming down to the collection bottle.
  • Do not overfill the collection bottle.

IMPORTANT

  • If E2 appears on the LCD display, there Is an open or short circuit In the Internal battery. Please contact your dealer or call Bellema at 1-800-385-6819.
  • The U-Ion Battery Is built-In. DO NOT remove the battery by yourself.
  • It is recommended that you charge the battery at least once a month. Charging time should not exceed 6 hours.
  • Do not use any adaptor or battery that does not come with the pump.

DISPOSAL

  • Medical equipment and other devices should be disposed of In proper containers that meet Environmental Protection Agency standards. Check with your local State Laws & Regulations In regards to proper disposal.

***If you experience pain or discomfort from pumping, stop immediately and consult a Breastfeeding Specialist or a Lactation Consultant. Improper use of a breast pump may result in breast tissue damage or mastitis.
