For example to attach an accessory, first stop the engine.

Warning: Stay out of the dashed zone, while starting the engine! Always start the engine from the dotted operation zone See illustration 3.

Starting and stopping the engine

Remember: Always check the oil level prior to use!

On engines with dipsticks, the oil level must always be between the min. and max. On engines without dipsticks, the oil must be visible to the edge of the filler hole, when the engine is horizontal position. Always use SAE-30 oil. Use only unleaded 95 octane gas. Never over-fill the gas tank.

Start, see illustration 4

  1. Open the fuel valve (A)

  2. Set the throttle lever on max (C)

  3.  For gasoline engines: Cold start: Set the choke arm (B) to “Choke” It is not necessary to use a choke when the engine is warm.
    For diesel engines:
    Engage the valve lifter (D)

  4.  Pull the start cord (E) to start the motor. Always feed the start cord back into the motor by hand.
When the engine is started, set the choke arm to the “Run” position
    Electric start:
For models with an electrical start, turn the ignition key (F)
Note: For diesel engines with an electrical starter Engage the valve lifter on key ignition and keep engaged until the steady revolution, then release.

  5.  When the motor is started, set the choke to a minimum and reduce the throttle slightly.

Stop

  1. Release the clutch handle (G)
  2. Set the throttle control to “low” (C)
For a model with an electrical start, turn the ignition key to “0”

Vibrations may travel up into the handle during use. We, therefore, recommend taking a break every 2 hours.

Operating the machine

Remove all foreign objects from the work area before using the machine. Stones, glass, branches, and similar items may damage the tiller. Also, check the bolts on the
tiller is tightened.
Start the motor as per the instructions below. Stand clear of the machine’s moving parts.
Never attempt to move the machine in any way other than intended for normal use while the motor is running.

Drive

Follow the operation procedure as shown in illustration 5:
A-1 Activate gear
A-2 Set throttle
A-3 Choose driving direction (D – R)
A-4 Activate the clutch handle

Differential

Activate the differential lever, see illustration 6 The differential system helps to make the machine turn easily.
But both wheels can be locked if the wheels are slipping or the machine needs to go in one straight line.

PTO (coupling of an accessory)
In order to engage an accessory, see illustration 5 (A-1).
Pay attention while reversing. It is important that the area is cleared, for any obstacle before reversing. Never reverse the tiller against a wall, tree or any other fixed obstacle.

Mounting an accessory

Change from front-mounted to rear-mounted accessories Follow the mounting procedure shown in illustration 7,
step 1-6:

  1. Set gear in neutral position N and release the 2 shifter rods from lock under handlebar:
    – PTO shifter (right side when in front mount position)
    – Gear shifter (left side when in front mount position)

  2. Take out the right PTO shifter rod (A) by removing the spring clip (C). Pull up the tube (B) from the PTO fork shaft (D) and then turn the tube 180.

  3. Push down the handle lock (A) and turn the handle 180o.
Attach the PTO gear shifter rod (A) again with the spring clip.

  4.  In the right panel box, a safety bolt (A-B-C) is installed, which blocks for high reverse speed when the rear-mounted accessory is being used (safety bolt should be removed
if using a front-mounted accessory, or else the forward speed is reduced to slow speed only) The safety bolt is installed as standard on a new machine.

  5.  Attach the rotary tiller on the machine and lock the PTO clutch.

  6.  The machine is now ready to be used as a rotary tiller.

Always check that the couplings are sufficiently lubricated. Lubricate with engine oil if necessary, this will ease the coupling of accessories.

For the rear-mounted accessory (rotary tiller), it is important that the safety bolt in the panel box is always installed to prevent accidents from high reverse speed.
The safety bolt should be removed when front-mounted accessories is being used (sweeper, lawn mower, and snow blade).

Change from rear-mounted to front-mounted accessories
follow the mounting procedure shown in illustration 8, steps 1-6:

  1.  Set gear in neutral position N and release the 2 shifter rods from the lock under the handlebar:
    – PTO shifter (left side when in rear mount position)
    – Gear shifter (right side when in rear mount position)

  2.  Take out the left PTO shifter rod (A) by removing the spring clip (C). Pull up the tube (B) from the PTO fork shaft (D) and then turn the tube 180o.

  3.  Push down the handle lock (A) and turn the handle 180. Attach the PTO gear shifter rod (A) again with the spring clip.

  4.  In the right panel box, a safety bolt (A-B-C) is installed, which blocks for high reverse speed when the rear-mounted accessory is being used. It must be removed if using a front-mounted accessory, or else the forward speed is reduced to slow speed only. The safety bolt is installed as standard on a new machine.

  5.  Attach the accessory to the machine and lock the PTO clutch.
The machine is now ready to be used as an e.g. sweeper.

Battery (only electric start)

Charging the battery is generally not necessary.
If necessary, see illustration 2 and follow the procedure below:
Connect the positive pole to the nut

  1. Connect the negative terminal to the metal parts of the engine
  2.  Connect the charger (not included)

Height adjustment of the handle

Follow the height adjustment procedure as shown in illustration 9. Remember to lock the handle again!

Tiller (accessory)

The rear-fitted tiller is used to prepare the ground for seeding. The tiller is equipped with a depth skid, which guides the depth of the tiller. When the depth skid is up, the tiller is
working at the maximal depth. When the depth skid is down, the tiller works with minimum depth.

Max. Working depth is approx. 20 cm.
It the ground is hard it is advisable to use first gear. If the ground is sandy and soft, second gear may be used.

Cleaning of tiller
The tiller should be cleaned after use. Use a garden hose to wash off soil and dirt. Remove any grass, etc. from the rotor shaft. The chassis number should only be cleaned with a
damp cloth to avoid unnecessary wear. Avoid using a high-pressure washer during cleaning.

Sweeper (accessory)

Height adjustment of the sweeper brush
Follow the height adjustment procedure as shown in illustration 10.
Correct storage of the sweeper
Store the sweeper, so that the brushes do not touch the ground. This will extend the durability and lifetime of the brushes.

  • Lower the support wheels about 50 mm so that the brushes are floating above the ground before the sweeper is disconnected from the basis unit.
  •  Disconnect the sweeper from the basic unit.
  •  Tilt the sweeper back, so it rests on the connection-part, and let it stand in that position during the storage period.
Never let the brushes rest on the ground for a longer time. It will cause them to bend and be useless. Illustration 11.

Changing the oil

The oil should initially be changed after the first 5 hours of use, and thereafter once per year.

  1.  Let the motor run for 5 minutes to heat up the oil. This allows the oil to run more freely and makes for a more complete oil change.

  2.  After 5 minutes, stop the motor. Remove the spark plug cap. Drain the oil by unscrewing the sump plug.
Remember to drain the oil into a container of sufficient capacity. NB: The motor must not be tipped backward more than 45 degrees.

  3.  Screw the sump plug back in and pour new oil into the motor. Do this by removing the dipstick and pouring in the recommended quantity of oil.

  4.  Refit the spark plug cap. (only gasoline engine)

Alternatively, use an oil extractor kit:

  1. Suck the oil up through the oil filler hole using the syringe. Use the hose to reach the sump.
  2.  Transfer the used oil to the container.
  3.  Fill the engine with new SAE-30 oil.
  4.  Check the oil level using the dipstick.

Remember to dispose of used oil in a safe way. Oil and oil extractor kit are not included

Lubrication

Correct maintenance and lubrication prolong the life of the machine.
The engine of your machine has a running-in period of 5 work hours. After 5 hours the engine oil must be changed.
After this the oil must be replaced for every 20 hours or at least once a year. Always check the oil level before using the machine.
If there are any signs of leakage or moist places the oil must be checked immediately.

Gearbox (see illustration 12-A)
Always check the gear oil level before using the machine.
Refill with SAE 90 gear oil if necessary.

The gear oil should be changed at least once a year or for every 200 operational hours. Use an oil change kit and add around 1.2 litre of new gear oil. The gear of the rotary tiller
must also be checked for every 50 hours and changed once a year. Use the same oil as for the gear box.

Quick coupler (see illustration 12-B)
To lubricate the quick coupling, do the following:

  1.  Insert a grease gun on the grease nipple.
  2.  Top up grease – 1 to 2 presses.

Storage

  • If the machine is likely to be stored unused for prolonged periods, follow the instructions below. This will ensure longer machine lifetime.
  •  Use a garden hose to wash off soil and dirt. The chassis number should only be cleaned with a damp cloth to avoid unnecessary wear. Avoid using a high-pressure washer during cleaning.
  •  Wipe the machine with a damp cloth so that all surfaces are clean. Wipe the surfaces down with an oily cloth to prevent rust.
  •  Always store the machine in a dry, clean location.
