Introduction

JBL’s black Control 65P/T satellite pendant speaker delivers full-range audio in a compact package. It has a 5.25″ woofer and a silk-dome tweeter that produce high-quality audio with wide frequency response, making it excellent for music or speaking. The drivers are protected by a complete grille, which also provides the speaker a streamlined appearance. JBL’s unique Radiation Boundary Integration (RBI) technology is used in the speaker to give 120° of continuous conical coverage. It can handle 75W of power and has an 8-ohm impedance, making it compatible with a wide range of installation sound systems. A 60W multi-tap transformer is included for professional installations.

The Control 65P/T is a full-range, two-way pendant loudspeaker with excellent sound reproduction and consistent, wide coverage for rooms with open architecture ceilings and other settings. A single-point mounting mechanism is included with the Control 65P/T for simple and secure suspension. There are two complete hanging cable systems supplied, one with main suspension cables and the other with safety suspension cables. Extra-long 15-foot (4.5 m) high- tensile galvanized steel wire rope with a spring clasp for the loudspeaker end and UL-certified cable fasteners for infinitely adjustable suspension height are included. The Control 65P/T includes a high-quality 60-Watt multi-tap transformer for use on 70V/100V distributed loudspeaker lines, as well as the ability to switch to 8-ohm voice-coil direct operation.

The Control 65P/T is a compact full-range, a two-way pendant-type loudspeaker that provides superb sound reproduction and very consistent, wide coverage for rooms with open architecture ceilings and other locations where a pendant form factor is desired. JBL’s patent-pending Radiation Boundary Integrator® (RBI) technology, adapted from the groundbreaking VERTEC™ Series of line array loudspeakers, delivers consistent coverage of the listening area. Combining a large 200 mm (8 in) diameter waveguide with low-frequency projection apertures, the two coaxially-mounted drivers provide seamless integration of coverage, resulting in extremely even pattern control and coverage where all listeners hear a consistent, high-fidelity sound quality. The wide 120° coverage pattern allows for the use of fewer speakers, reducing the cost of the installed system without sacrificing performance.

Excellent sound quality coupled with stylish design and easy installation makes the Control 65P/T ideal for a wide variety of applications including retail, restaurants, hotels, casinos, fitness centers, convention centers, exhibit spaces, conference rooms, atriums, museums, transit centers and other open-ceiling applications.

The Control 65P/T includes a single-point mounting system for easy and secure suspension in open-ceiling applications. Two complete hanging cable systems are included, providing both main and safety suspension cables. Include extra- long 4.5 m (15 foot) high tensile galvanized steel wire rope having spring clips for the loudspeaker end of the cable and UL-listed cable fasteners for infinitely adjustable suspension height. The system’s 130 mm (5¼ in) low- frequency driver features a polypropylene-coated cone and 25 mm (1 in) copper voice coil with a vented fiberglass resin coil-former for high power handling and improved long-term reliability. The coaxially-mounted 20 mm (¾ in) textile soft-dome high-frequency driver features internal damping for a smooth extended response, along with an aluminum voice coil former and neodymium magnet assembly with Ferro-fluid cooling, for high-fidelity sound quality with enhanced long-term sound level capability.

The Control 65P/T contains a high-quality 60 Watt multi-tap transformer for use on 70V/100V distributed loudspeaker lines, and is switchable for 8-ohm voice-coil direct operation. Euro-style clip-in connectors allow for easy wiring. For protected outdoor applications, rubber boots are included to cover the input connectors, and an optional terminal cover is available for harsher locations.

Frequently Asked Questions

• How’s the bass?
  Poor bass quality but that’s not really the point of these types of speakers.

• How many come in an order?
  Most orders have 2 (1 pair as stated) but some companies sell them individually also.

• Why are there 2 speaker terminals? There’s no info in the box
  It helps in connecting/daisy-chaining to the next speaker. Could only use one pair, but the second makes it easier.

• Are these blue tooth speakers?
  No, regular speakers.

• Do these work by themselves or do they need other pieces to work?
  These will not work by themselves. You would also need some sort of amplifier and audio source in order to use these.

• I bought 2 sets and I want to install both sets I need to know which gauge speaker wire I need to use for that.
  Depends on the length of the run. I used 16 gauge because my run of wire was only about 15 feet. If you will be running a length over 25 feet i would use 14 gauge wire.

• Are these speakers Bluetooth?
  No

• Some clarification is required, is this $544 for two speakers; $272 each, or $544 PER speaker, must be even-numbered order?
  The description states “sold as a pair” When I bought these I got them for about $275ea or $550/pair. Hope this helps. PS> They work quite well in a business environment.

• This price as shown is that for each speaker and we are to multiply that by two to get the price for the pair?
  We sell them by the pair but we are down to one pair left in stock. The $319.20 will get you a pair of speakers.

• I will be mounting these in an area that might receive some wind (under an awning) . Are these going to swing a lot? Are there mounting options?
  With the suspension wire and gripples yes they will swing a bit. You can use 1/2 inch conduit in boxes attached to the ceiling and put the suspension wire inside the conduit to attach to the speaker at the bottom to stiffen it up.

• How do you set up the right and left functions?

That would depend on the amplifier you use.

• Do these have some sort of ceiling plate or just the wire?
  Cabling with cable locks.
