Frequently Asked Questions
-
What needle should I buy to replace the one on here? Should I buy the GrooveTool cartridge to replace the one it came with?
Order a Pfanstiel 793-D7M diamond stylus for LPs/45s, and a 793-D3M stylus for 78 rpm records (this is the correct-sized diamond tip specifically for 78s) -
What kind of cartridge comes with this turntable?
It’s a generic one, not a professional one. The kind you see on the “vintage” turntables sold at Target and stuff. This is a terrible turntable by the way. -
I like the idea of the PT01 and I would like to purchase one as a gift. What are the major problems with this or which turntables could substitute it?
I have only used the turntable so far to transfer three LPs to CDs (I assume you can also put the music on MP3). Everything worked smoothly, though I felt the need to monitor the process. I can’t compare the unit to other turntables but I have been happy with the system for the purpose I bought it for. -
Does it come with batteries and rca cables?
No batteries but the rca cables come with it. -
Does the transformer work globally?
As far as the voltage that the machine can handle, I believe it’s only 110V and it only has a two-pronged plug. However, seeing that you’re in China (I believe they use 220v for outlets,) you can get a transformer and run it off that. Worst-case scenario, it also runs on D batteries. -
How does this sound hook up to a PA System?
don’t have to experience it. we are tore that is selling it, but you can try to find videos on youtube. -
I lost the power chord to this, what should I buy as a replacement?
Should work a 12v. -
Does this product have a one-year manufacturer warranty? I bought one in November 2019 and the power adapter port stopped working.
I don’t know. I just bought a universal one when mine stopped working. -
With what maximum quality does it record sound to mp3 format? Please write sample rate and sample format.
I know it will do a sample rate of 44.1KHz, maybe 48(?). The turntable functions as a USB audio interface for your computer. (It doesn’t record files direct to a drive. ) The file format (mp3, WAV, m4a, etc.) and bitrate would depend upon the software you use to record with. I think they used to pack a copy of Audacity with this unit, a great free audio app. Go to the Audacity site and download the latest version (available for Windows, Mac, and Linux). -
Does it work with virtual dj?
The PT01USB is a lightweight belt-drive turntable (with a ceramic cartridge) mainly for testing used records. It will not give you high-quality playback, but It can convert the analog audio signal to digital so you can save your music in a digital format (MP3, WAVE, whatever) using PC or MAC software. I don’t know what virtual dj is, but if it uses analog or digital audio as input, I suppose it will work. Don’t use the cheap sapphire stylus that comes on the cartridge. Order a Pfanstiel 793-D7M diamond stylus for LPs/45s, and a 793-D3M stylus for 78 rpm records (this is the correct-sized diamond tip specifically for 78s). -
Are there any specs on the analog-to-digital converter in the player? is the USB interface an actual audio card?
Yes. Simple plug and DL software. -
Does it work with Windows 7?
Yes, I have Windows 7 and it works great. -
What are the dimensions of this item and can it connect to a receiver?
The dimensions, which should be on the web page, are 11.75 X 11.75 X 3.5 (inches). It has a “stereo input” (mini-plug); I don’t know if that will take a receiver. -
Is it true that the speaker still plays while using headphones or connected to another audio source.?
Yes, it does. What I do is lower the volume output on the player so that the internal speaker is very low, then I increase the volume in my connected speakers. This won’t work with headphones plugged in by themselves, however. -
Can I obtain a stylus (needle) for playing 78 rpm records?
The one provided will be working for all speeds. -
Can it run off 12 volts dc?
You need a Power Adapter. It’s 12vdc around 500mA that plugs into the back of the unit. The center of the plug must be the “+” side. You should find a comparable adapter on Amazon. -
Does this turntable compatible with Serato scratch live or Traktor scratch pro?
If you have hardware for either Traktor or Serato then yes. -
Does the software break each side into multiple MP3 tracks or just 1 track for each side?
That depends on the software you use, some will have detection between tracks others will record straight thorough but breaking it apart should be very simple.
