Electrical safety
Please read these precautions carefully to ensure you are using your Fairphone 4 5G safely.
The model name of your product is FP4.

hearing damageAudio properties and hearing precautions
Your Fairphone has two built-in speakers. The earpiece speaker is positioned at the top-center of the device, facing the front, and the loudspeaker is positioned at the bottom of the device, facing down. The earpiece speaker is meant to be used near your ear for certain functions like calling but can also play loud sounds when the device is playing multimedia. You can also listen to audio using a headset (connected via the USB C port or  Bluetooth). A headset is included in the box only in markets where this is compulsory.

Your Fairphone is capable of operating at high volumes. Prolonged headphone usage at high volumes can lead to hearing damage. Turn on the audio and check the volume before positioning it close to your ear. Aim to limit your exposure to the highest volume range. To prevent possible hearing damage, do not listen at high volume levels for long periods.

Charging and battery
Charge your Fairphone with a USB type C cable and USB-compatible charger – preferably one that is compatible with QC 3.0 (9Vdc, 3A), or another applicable mobile phone power adapter interoperability standard. Using damaged cables or chargers, or charging when moisture is present, can cause electric shock.
Only charge your device using a data cable or charger that follows the IEC/EN 62684 standard, like the one you can find on www.fairphone.com/accessories- fp4.

The use of incompatible accessories or spare parts may have serious consequences for your Fairphone. Your battery is a lithium-ion battery. Do not use this battery at high temperatures or expose it to excessive heat. Keep your Fairphone in a well-ventilated area when using or charging it. Use your device within the temperature range of -10C to +55C. Keep your Fairphone in a well-ventilated area when using or charging it. Do not charge the device when the environment temperature is above +40C.
Sustained exposure to high or low temperatures may have an effect on your device’s operation.
If the device gets too warm, allow the device some time to cool down and avoid leaving your phone in direct sunlight.

If you need to replace your battery, ensure that it is an original Fairphone battery. For instructions on how to safely replace the battery, please check our Quick Start Guide. Please dispose of used batteries responsibly at a suitable electronic waste collection facility, as they contain materials that are hazardous to your health and the environment.

This symbol indicates a separate collection of batteries. Please consult with your municipality website should you need further clarification on the separate waste recycling program.

CAUTION
RISK OF EXPLOSION IF BATTERY IS REPLACED BY AN INCORRECT TYPE. DISPOSE OF USED BATTERIES ACCORDING TO THE INSTRUCTIONS.

Safety Instructions

To reduce your device’s transmission power, move to a location with the maximum number of bars (indicated by the number of bars displayed on the phone’s screen).
The transmission power is higher when you are inside a building, when you are far from a base station, or when there are obstacles between you and the base station. In an area with poor reception (e.g., tram, bus, elevator, or underground parking garage) or in a sector with poor network coverage, the phone boosts its transmission power, which subsequently increases the user’s exposure level.

The bars shown on the phone’s screen indicate how much power the phone is transmitting.
The higher the number of bars, the stronger the signal that is being received. Use the phone where the reception is strongest, i.e. when the reception indicator is at its maximum. When the reception is not at its maximum, use text messaging instead.

Hands-free, pedestrian, and earpiece kits
To reduce the head’s exposure to radio waves, users are advised to use a wired or Bluetooth earpiece kit.

Metal implants, pacemakers, and pregnancy
It is recommended to never operate a mobile phone near a pregnant woman’s belly or within 20 cm of any metal implant, pacemaker, or similar device (please consult your doctor).

Reasonable Use
Ensure reasonable use of your Fairphone device by children and adolescents by avoiding nighttime communications and limiting the frequency and duration of calls.

Road Safety
Using your Fairphone in some circumstances may distract you and might cause a dangerous situation (for example, while driving a car). Ensure that you are aware of the road  safety rules in your area and the specific prohibition or restriction on the use of mobile devices or headphones.
