Information on using the operating manual

  • Before using the appliance for the first time, the operating manual must be read fully and understood.
  • Consider the operating manual as part of the product and keep in a safe and accessible location.
  •  Enclose this operating manual if passing the appliance on to a third party.
Symbol explanation
  • The following symbols are used on the appliance.
  • The appliance must only be used indoors, and exclusively for aquariums.
  • The symbol indicates that the distance from the underside of the light to the highest water mark must be a minimum of 15 mm.
  • Danger of eye injuries.
  • The symbol indicates that you should not look directly into the light source for a prolonged period; this may result in eye damage.
  • The symbol indicates that the appliance is of protection class III (protective low voltage).
  • The symbol indicates that the appliance is of protection class II.

Application

The appliance and all parts included in the scope of delivery are intended for private use and must only be used:-

  • for aquarium-related purposes
  •  with fresh water
  •  indoors
  •  with attachment parts that are recommended by the manufacturer
  • in compliance with the technical data

The following limitations apply to the appliance:

  • do not use for commercial or industrial purposes
  • caustic, inflammable, aggressive or explosive substances, food or drinking water may not be used
  •  the water temperature may not exceed 35°C

 Safety instructions

Risks for persons and property can arise from this appliance if the appliance is improperly used or not used as intended or if the safety instructions are not heeded.
For your safety

  • Do not let the appliance packaging get into the hands of children as hazards can arise (danger of suffocation!).

  •  This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabili-ties, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they are under the supervision of someone responsible for their safety or have received instruction on usage of the appliance from said person. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

  •  Only for European markets:
    This appliance can be used by children from the age of 8 and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and/or knowledge if they are supervised and have been instructed in the safe use of the appliance and have understood the resulting dangers. Children must not play with the appliance.
    Cleaning and user maintenance must not be carried out by children unless they are supervised.

  •  Before use, carry out a visual inspection to ensure that the appliance, especially the mains cable and plug, are undamaged.

  •  Do not look directly into the light source for a prolonged period; this may result in eye damage.

  • Repairs must only be carried out by an EHEIM service Centre.

  •  Only carry out the work described in these instructions.

  •  Only use original spare parts and accessories for the appliance.

  •  The appliance must be protected by a residual current protection device with a maximum rated residual current of 30 mA. Please contact an electrician if there are any questions or problems.

  •  In the event of leakage or when the residual current protection device is triggered, immediately disconnect all devices in the aquarium from the power supply.

  • If they are not being used, always disconnect all devices in the aquarium from the power supply before you install/remove any parts and before all cleaning and maintenance work.

  •  Heed the operating manuals for the EHEIM thermopreset aquarium heater and the EHEIM aqua interior filter, especially the chapters on safety, commissioning, operation and maintenance!

  •  Protect the mains socket and mains plug against moisture and wetness. A drip loop must be formed with the mains cable. This prevents any water running along the cable to the mains socket, which would result in a short-circuit.

  •  The electrical data of the appliance must match the data of the power mains. This data is found on the
    type plate, the packaging and in these instructions.

  • Note the distance from the underside of the light to the highest water mark. The aquarium must be
    filled to a maximum of 2 mm above the lower edge of the cover frame (aquaclass 30 ⌦F) or up to the water level indicator (aquaclass 66 ⌦G).

 Preparation

Unpacking
Carefully remove all components from the packaging and make sure that nothing is missing or damaged.
Accessories
The scope of delivery contains the following accessories:

  • EHEIM thermopreset 50 aquarium heater (3652010)
  •  EHEIM aqua 60 interior filter (2206020)

aquaclass

  •  EHEIM thermopreset 100 aquarium heater (3654010)
  •  EHEIM aqua 160 interior filter (2207020)

Assembly

Location
  • Avoid direct sunlight and not too much daylight!
  •  Keep the aquarium away from heat sources.
  •  Keep the aquarium away from electrical equipment.
  •  Be aware of any nearby mains connections.

CAUTION! Material damage.

  • Ensure that the surface is level and stable.
  •  Ensure that the base cabinet is sufficiently stable.
  •  Be mindful of the floor load provided by the entire weight.
Setting up and aligning the base cabinet (⌦A)
  1. Place the base cabinet in the desired position.
  2.  Align the base cabinet horizontally using a spirit level.
  3. A stand can be used underneath for horizontal alignment. Ensure that the stand fully supports the surface.
Setting up the aquarium (⌦B)

WARNING! Personal injury or material damage.
The aquarium must not be transported or carried when it is filled.
CAUTION! Material damage.
No foreign bodies, mats or bases must be placed between the aquarium and base cabinet.

  • Thoroughly clean the top side of the base cabinet and the lower side of the aquarium base.
  • Remove any foreign bodies, mats or bases.
  •  Place the empty aquarium incl. lower frame ① on the base cabinet.

Commissioning

DANGER! Personal injury or material damage.

  • Heed the operating manual for the EHEIM aqua interior filter and the EHEIM thermopreset aquarium heater, especially the chapters on safety, commissioning and operation!

Installing the EHEIM aqua interior filter ④ and the EHEIM thermopreset aquarium heater

  1. Prepare the appliances as described in the relevant operating manual.
  2.  Open the cover and remove both bolts ③ from the hinges (⌦C).
  3.  Remove the cover from the hinges.
  4.  Install the appliances on the inner side of the aquarium as described in the relevant operating manual (⌦D).

Laying the cables (⌦E)

  1. Connect the connecting cable to the LED light.
  2.  Lay the cables of the LED light ⑦, the interior filter ④ and the aquarium heater ⑤ in the terminals on the underside of the cover. Feed the cables through the openings ⑥ in the cover to the outside.
  3.  Place the cover in the hinges and insert the bolts ③ into both hinges.

DANGER! Electric shock due to penetrating water!
The power supply unit is not protected against penetrating water!

Never mount the power supply unit on or in the cover frame.

Filling the aquarium

CAUTION! Material damage.

Do not use hard objects or cleaning agents for cleaning.

  1. Before filling, thoroughly clean the aquarium with warm water and a soft, clean sponge.
  2.  Decorate the aquarium with sand, stones, plants, etc.

DANGER! Electric shock due to penetrating water!
The LED light is only protected against penetrating water if immersed temporarily.
Note the distance from the underside of the LED light to the highest water mark.
Fill the aquarium with water
aquaclass 30

to a maximum of 2 mm above the lower edge of the cover frame ⑧ (⌦F).
aquaclass 66
up to the water level indicator ⑨ (⌦G).

Operation

  • Heed the operating manual for the EHEIM aqua interior filter and the EHEIM thermopreset aquarium heater, especially the chapters on safety, commissioning and operation!

Switching the LED light ⑥ on and off

  1. Insert the LED light plug into the power supply unit.
  2. Insert the power supply unit’s mains plug into the mains socket.
  3.  Using the button ⑩, switch the LED light on or off (⌦H).

Programming the LED light

Function of the buttons (⌦H) ON/OFF button ⑩

  •  Switching on/off
  • The program starts with the daylight phase (100%) when it is switched on
  • Customer-specific programming: Reduces the pre-set time by one hour with each push of the button

+/- Button ⑫

  • Dimmer function: Increases or reduces the light intensity
  • Customer-specific programming: Increases the pre-set time by one hour with each push of the button
  •  Switching on

Upon switching it on, the program restarts at the point on the timer at which the LED light was switched off.

  • The duration of the sunrise and sunset phases cannot be changed.
  • Dimming is not possible during the sunrise and sunset phases.
  • In the event of a power failure, the customer-specific program will be saved for 40 minutes. If the power supply is discon-nected for longer than

40 minutes, the LED light will start in the pre-set program.
Pre-set program
The program has the following pre-set day/night cycle:

  • Day phase = 12 hours
  • Sunrise phase: 40minutes
  • Daylight phase (100%) :10 hours and 40 minutes
  • Sunset phase: 40 minutes
  • Night phase = 12 hours

Example : If you would like to start the daylight phase at 8 o’clock, the LED light must be switched on at 8 o’clock.
Customer-specific program
To create a customer-specific day/night cycle, proceed as follows:

  1. Start the programming. Press the ON/OFF and +/- buttons simultaneously for approx. 2 seconds. The red LED ⑪ will flash.
  2. Increase the day phase by 1 hour by pressing the +/- button.

Reduce the day phase by 1 hour by pressing ON/ OFF button.

  • The red LED will briefly illuminate for confirmation of this.
  • The duration of the sunrise and sunset phases cannot be changed.

End the programming. Do not press any buttons for approx. 15 seconds.

  • The red LED will go out for several seconds. The programmed total number of hours for the day phase will be indicated by the LED flashing accordingly

 Maintenance

DANGER! Electric shock!

  • All appliances must be disconnected from the power supply before any maintenance work is carried out.

CAUTION! Material damage.

  • Do not use hard objects or aggressive cleaning agents for cleaning.
  •  The appliance components are not dishwasher-proof! Do not clean the appliance or appliance parts in the dishwasher.

The following sections describe maintenance work necessary for optimum and fault-free operation. Regular maintenance prolongs the service life and assures functionality of the appliance over a long period.

  1. Regularly remove lime scale deposits from the cover, the glass and the LED light with a soft, damp cloth.

Carry out the specified maintenance work for EHEIM aqua interior filter and the EHEIM thermopreset aquarium heater. For this, heed the pertinent device operating manuals.
Changing the LED light (⌦I)
DANGER! Electric shock!
All appliances must always be disconnected from the power supply before any repair work is carried out.

  1. Remove the fastening screws .of the LED light.
  2.  Remove the LED light.
  3.  Install the new LED light in reverse order.

Clearing faults

DANGER! Electric shock!

  • All devices must always be disconnected from the power supply before clearing faults.

For other faults, please contact EHEIM Service.

Decommissioning and disposal

Storage

CAUTION! Material damage.
Do not subject the appliance to adverse weather conditions or temperatures below freezing.

  1. Clean the appliance
  2. Store the appliance in a dry, frost-proof place.
Disposal

An appliance that can no longer be used should not be disposed of as a unit, but rather disassembled into individual parts according to the type of material and then recycled. For this, heed the pertinent device operating manuals.
WARNING! Danger of cutting injuries. Eye injuries due to splinters of flying glass
Shattering the glass panes of the aquarium can lead to eye injuries caused by splinters of flying glass, as well as cutting injuries.

  • To dispose of the glass planes with the household waste, do not shatter them.

When disposing of the appliance, pay attention to the relevant statutory regulations.
The appliance may no longer be disposed of with the municipal or household waste. The appliance will be accepted free of charge at municipal collection points or recycling centres. The product packaging is made up of recyclable materials. Dispose of them in an environmentally responsible manner and take them for recycling.

Guarantee

Starting from the date of purchase, we will assume a guarantee period of 24 months for your aquarium lights. This covers all defects on any installed electrical parts. This does not include damage due to interventions by the purchaser himself.
Starting from the date of purchase, we will assume a guarantee period of 36 months for the bonding and processing of your aquarium. However, this shall not include glass damage. As a prerequisite for this, the specified installation instructions must be observed. Even during the guarantee period, no liability will be assumed for fish, plants and accessories; this also applies to damage and consequential damage in the home. Please do not remove the labelling under the glass base, otherwise the guarantee will be declared void.
Throughout the guarantee period, we will carry out repairs free of charge. For the guarantee to be acknowledged, a dated purchase receipt must be presented to your specialist dealer and the operating manual must also be complied with.
