Information on using the operating manual
▶ Before using the appliance for the first time, the operating manual must be
read fully and understood.
▶ Consider the operating manual as part of the product and keep it in a safe
and accessible location.
▶ Enclose this operating manual if passing the appliance on to a third party.

**The appliance must only be used indoors, and exclusively for aquariums.

Application
Intended use
The appliance and all parts included in the scope of delivery are intended for
private use and must only be used:
- to dim EHEIM classic lights
- to adjust the lighting duration
- in compliance with the technical data
Safety instructions
Risks for persons and property can arise from this appliance if the appliance is improperly used or not used as intended or if the safety instructions are not heeded.
For your safety
- This appliance can be used by children from the age of 8 and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and/or knowledge if they are supervised and have been instructed in the safe use of the appliance and have understood the resulting dangers. Children must not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance must not be carried out by children unless they are supervised.
- The appliance is operated in conjunction with EHEIM classical lights. Heed the operating manual for the lights, especially the chapters on safety, commissioning, operation, and maintenance!
- Before use, carry out a visual inspection to ensure that the appliance, especially the power supply unit, and plug, are undamaged.
- Never use the appliance with a damaged power supply unit.
- The appliance must not be opened. A defective appliance must be completely replaced.
- Never make technical modifications to the appliance.
- Only use original spare parts and accessories for the appliance.
- **** In the event of water leakage or when the residual current protection device is triggered, immediately disconnect all devices in the aquarium from the power supply.
- If they are not being used, always disconnect all devices in the aquarium from the power supply before you install/remove any parts and before all cleaning and maintenance work.
- The appliance must not be placed on or within the aquarium cover.
- The electrical data of the appliance must match the data of the power mains. This data is found on the type plate, the packaging, and in these instructions.
Commissioning
Before commissioning, remove any timers that may be included!
Electrical connection (⌦A)
- Disconnect the power supply unit of the EHEIM classical light from the mains.
- Disconnect the EHEIM classical light from the power supply unit.
- Connect the dimmer to the corresponding connections of the EHEIM classical light and the power supply unit.
- Insert the power supply unit in the main socket.

Lighting phases
The dimmer has a day phase and a night phase. Both phases run automatically one after the other and are repeated every 24 hours. The day phase begins with sunrise and ends with sunset. -
Dimming levels
During the day phase, the lighting can be set to 30 different levels. During the night phase, the lighting can be set to four different levels. At the lowest level, the light in the day and night phase is out. Please note that not all changes in brightness can be perceived by the human eye! -
Lighting duration
The lighting duration corresponds with the duration of the day phase, from the start at sunrise until the end at sunset.
Reverting to the factory setting (⌦B)
Factory setting
Day phase: 12 hours incl. sunrise and sunset
Night phase: 12 hours
- Hold the buttons and down simultaneously until the red control light 1 flashes quickly.
- Do not hold either button for 20 seconds.
- The dimmer activates the factory setting and starts with sunrise.
Setting an individual lighting duration

Hold the buttons and down simultaneously until the red control light flashes quickly.
-
Set the duration of the lighting phase:
Increase the lighting phase of the factory setting (12 hours) by an hour at a time with each actuation of the button (⌦C).
Decrease the lighting phase by an hour at a time with each actuation of the button (⌦D).
A few seconds after the last actuation of a button, the control light will display the duration of the lighting phase by flashing (1 × flash equals 1 hour). -
Do not hold either button for 20 seconds. The dimmer starts with sunrise.
‧ The maximum sunrise brightness level will be reached after 45 minutes.
• The duration of sunset is also 45 minutes.
• You will subsequently no longer be able to change the lighting duration.
To change the lighting duration, you must start again at point 1 of the setting of the individual lighting durations.
Setting the brightness/dimming level
‧ The dimming level for the day phase can only be set during the day phase,
while the dimming level for the night phase can only be set during the night
phase.
• The last selected dimming level will be automatically saved, without
additional saving, until it is next changed.
1. Set the brightness of the day or night phase:
Increase the brightness by actuating the button (⌦C).
Decrease the brightness by actuating the button (⌦D).
• You have reached the maximum brightness when the red control light blinks
quickly several times upon each additional actuation of the button .
• The LED confirms each actuation of the button by flashing once.
Maintenance
Attention! Electrocution!
▶ Before maintenance work, remove the mains plug of the power supply unit.
Caution! Material damage.
**** ▶ Do not use hard objects or aggressive cleaning agents for cleaning.
▶ Do not clean the appliance in the dishwasher.
Cleaning the dimmer
- Wipe the dimmer with a soft and slightly damp cloth as necessary.
Decommissioning
Disposal
When disposing of the appliance, heed the respective statutory regulations.
Information on the disposal of electrical and electronic appliances in the
European Union:
Within the European Union, disposal of electrically operated appliances is
governed by national regulations that are based on the EU Directive 2012/19/
EU on waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE).
The appliance may no longer be disposed of with municipal or household waste.
The appliance will be accepted free of charge at municipal collection points
or recycling centers. The product packaging is made up of recyclable
materials. Dispose of them in an environmentally responsible manner and take
them for recycling.
