SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Read the operating instructions carefully before use.
Save them for future reference.

  • Do not use the solar shower in strong wind. It could be blown over and cause serious personal injury or material damage.
  • Never try to climb up or hang from the solar shower, and do not stand on its base plate.
  • The product must only be used for its intended purpose and in accordance with these instructions.
  • Keep small parts, tools, and packaging materials out of the reach of children.
  • The solar shower must be installed on a stable surface (concrete or stone floor, or concrete foundation) to be stable and safe to use.
  • The solar shower’s base plate has four predrilled holes to screw it to the foundation.
  • When the shower is filled with water it is heavy and can tip over if it is not firmly secured to the foundation.
  • Install the shower in a place where there is the most sun.
  • Connect the shower to the tap water system in the building, preferably via an outdoor tap for a garden hose. Set the mixer handle in the cold water position to fill the shower. Keep an eye on the shower when filling -do not overfill.
  • The water supply to the shower must have a shut-off tap.
  • When the shower is in use the tap should always be open, usually half-open, to ensure enough water pressure for the shower.

WARNING:

  • The temperature of the water in the shower can reach over 55° C. Start showering with cool water to avoid scalding -set the mixer handle midway between hot and cold and then adjust to the required temperature.
  • If the shower has not been used for more than three days, run the water for two minutes to flush out the standing water. Stagnant water in warm conditions can be a breeding ground for unhealthly bacteria.

INSTALLATION

IMPORTANT:

  • The product must be installed on a level and stable surface.

  • Be careful, especially when using tools – the risk of damaging the enamel or other surface finish. It is a good idea to place a cloth between the tool and the parts of the shower as protection.

  • Wind 5-7 layers of the supplied Teflon tape around the shower nozzle connection.

  • Carefully thread the couping on the shower nozzle connection and tighten. Do not overtighten.

  • Wind 3-5 layers of Teflon tape on the short end of the extension tube. Thread the shower nozzle on the taped tube end and tighten. Do not overtighten.

  • Wind 8-10 layers of Teflon tape on the other end of the extension tube. Carefully tighten the extension tube on the coupling. Do not overtighten. NOTE: The shower nozzle must always point downwards.

  • Fit the mixer handle and fasten it with the supplied screw. Fit the blue and red cap. Blue indicates cold water and red indicates hot water.

  • Connect the top and bottom parts of the shower together. This step is best done by two persons. NOTE: The shower nozzle and mixer handle must lie in the same vertical line.

  • Connect a hose coupling to the shower inlet.

NOTE: If any of the fitted couplings leaks, dismantle the leaking coupling and wind an additional 3-4 layers of Teflon tape and refit.

Installation

  • The solar shower must only be installed on a stone or concrete surface.

  • Choose a place for the installation with as much direct sunlight as possible.

  • Use the foot of the shower as a template to mark out where the installation holes should be drilled.

  • Put the shower on one side. Drill 45 mm deep holes with a diameter of 73 mm as per the markings.

  • Insert expander plugs in the holes. Put screws in the expander plugs and tap them with a hammer so that the plugs expand a little.

  • Remove the screws and put the shower’s base plate/bottom part over the holes and tighten with the supplied screws and washers.

NOTE:

  • The base plate will feel loose until the shower is fully fastened to the foundation.
  • Do not use tools when tightening -this will permanently damage the product.

USE

  1. Before using it for the first time
  2. Lift the mixer handle and turn it all the way towards the hot water position.
  3. Open the garden hose tap to fill the shower. It takes about two minutes to fill the shower. NOTE: Filling with the mixer in the hot water position ensures that no air bubbles are left in the shower. This procedure is only applicable when filling the shower for the first time.
  4. Move the mixer handle to the off position when water starts coming out of the shower nozzle. The water starts to heat up again when the shower is turned off.
  5. The shower is now ready to absorb solar heat and heat up the shower water. NOTE: Depending on the weather and sunlight, it can take up to three hours, sometimes longer, to fully heat up the water. If the shower is used too early the water will be cold. A newly used shower that has not been fully emptied heats up quicker.

Use

  • In the event of leakage, check the shower nozzle and inlet connections. Check the mixer as well. All the water can slowly leak through the shower nozzle if there is any play in the mixer, or it is not properly sealed.
  • Damage caused by contaminated water, saltwater or frost is not covered by the warranty.

MAINTENANCE

Care

  • Wipe the product after use.

Winter storage

  1. Clean the shower with a soft cloth at the end of the season.
  2. Close the garden hose tap and disconnect it from the shower inlet. Move the mixer handle to the open position. The water empties through the inlet connection.
  3. Store the shower in a dry place with the mixer open so that no water is left in the shower- otherwise, it could freeze and burst.
  4. Store the shower during the winter in a dry place protected from the weather and wind.

NOTE:

  • Do not use salt or other antifreeze agents as this can damage the shower.
