Thank you for purchasing a Yamaha Hi-Hat Stand Please read this owner’s manual thoroughly before use for your understanding of the product.
Preparation for Assembly
(installation of the connection rod, opening the legs, installation of the hi- hat shaft, and installation of the top pipe.) Insert the connecting rod under the heel in the frame hole to secure the footboard and the frame. Open the legs of the leg assembly, and then tighten the bolt (A) to secure.
Selecting and Assembling the Hi-Hat Shaft, Assembling Top Pipe
Put the hi-hat shaft into the hi-hat shaft rod fixing nut in the base assembly pipe holder to secure. * HS1200 series allow height adjustment in the broader range than previous products, and thus come with two types (long and short) of the hi-hat shafts for your preference. (Use the short rod for a low setting to avoid interference with your play.) Insert the top pipe, in the pipe holder of the base assembly. Once the height is determined, tighten the base assembly pipe holder bolt to secure.
Note
Moving parts require occasional application of grease to promise smooth
operation of the product. Please note that fastening of the base assembly pipe
holder without the top pipe may cause a trouble such that the top pipe. cannot
be put into.
Remove the newly adopted rubber & felt washer in two layers. Select the side to go on top. You can obtain the traditional natural sound with the felt side and the sharp responsive sound with the rubber side. Adjust the tilt angle of the cymbal by rotating the adjustment nut under the cymbal support plate.
The top hi-hat cymbal is fixed and held in place between the two felts of the hi-hat clutch.
- Loosen the drum key bolt 1 on the clutch nut and remove the clutch nut from the clutch bolt.
- Remove the lower felt and place the cymbal between the upper felt and the lower removed felt.
- Firmly tighten the clutch nut onto the clutch bolt. Next, tighten the drum key bolt 1 to lock the clutch nut. Since the drum key bolt 1 can be locked with a minimum of force, be sure not to over-tighten which may cause damage to the bolt.
- The lock nut adjusts the amount of pressure used to hold the cymbal in place. Loosen the drum key bolt 2 and rotate the lock nut to adjust. After the position has been determined, tighten the drum key bolt 2 to lock the lock nut in place. The drum key bolt 2 can be locked with a minimum of force so be sure not to over-tighten which may cause damage to the bolt.
**Memory Clamp[](https://manuals.plus/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/YAMAHA-

Insert the top pipe in the leg assembly, after you have determined the height of the hi-hat cymbal, secure the memory clamp at the base assembly’s pipe holder to set a “memory” of the pipe’s position for future settings. At this time, make sure the memory clamp fits into the pipe holder. Use a drum key to firmly tighten the memory clamp so as to prevent the pipe from slipping during performance. Also, the pipe holder is equipped with a drum key holder. (The drum key is optional.)
Spring Tension Adjustment
Adjust tension of the string with the large adjusting dial. Turning the dial to the left increases tension while turning to the right decreases tension. The indicator conveniently displays the amount of tension.
Spikes
The spikes prevent the hi-hat stand from sliding forward. The spikes are housed in the rubber feet of both legs for HS1200T/D or in the rubber foot of the front leg for HS1200. The spike needle can be put in and out by the button on top of the rubber foot.
**Adjusting Leg Position[](https://manuals.plus/wp-

The position of the legs (footboard) can be adjusted by loosening bolts A and B, shown in the diagram on the right. After the position has been determined, firmly tighten bolts A and B.
**Adjust the Footboard Angle[](https://manuals.plus/wp-
content/uploads/2022/07/YAMAHA-HS1200T-Hi-Hat-Stand-FIG-5.png)**
The angle adjuster can be used to increase or decrease the amount of footboard angle by raising or lowering the adjuster. With a drum key, loosen the two bolts on either side of the angle adjuster then slide the angle adjuster higher or lower as needed. After the angle has been determined, firmly tighten two bolts with a drum key.
