WARNING: WHEN USING AN ELECTRICAL PRODUCT, BASIC PRECAUTIONS SHOULD ALWAYS BE FOLLOWED TO AVOID ELECTRIC SHOCK, FIRE, AND/OR SERIOUS INJURY, INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING:

• Fully assemble before operating.

• Operate cleaner only at voltage specifi ed on a data plate on the bottom of the cleaner.

• Do not leave the product when plugged in. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning or servicing.

• Do not use outdoors or on wet surfaces.

• Do not allow it to be used as a toy. Not intended for use by children age 12 and under. Close attention is necessary when used by or near children. To avoid injury or damage, keep children away from products, and do not allow children to place fingers or other objects into any openings.

• Use only as described in this user’s manual.
  Use only the manufacturer’s recommended attachments.

• Do not use a damaged cord or plug. If product is not working as it should, has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into water, call customer service at
  1-800 321-1134 prior to continuing use.

• Do not pull or carry by cord, use cord as a handle, close a door on cord, or pull cord around sharp edges or corners. Do not place the product on the cord.
  Do not run product over cord. Keep cord away from heated surfaces.

• Do not unplug by pulling on the cord. To unplug, grasp the plug, not the cord.

• Do not handle plug or product with wet hands.

• Do not put any objects into openings. Do not use with any opening blocked; keep free of dust, lint, hair, and anything that may reduce air flow.

• Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all parts of the body away from openings and moving parts.
  The brush roll continues to rotate when in an upright position.

• Turn off all controls before unplugging.

• Use extra care when cleaning on stairs. To avoid personal injury or damage, and to prevent the cleaner from falling, always place the cleaner at bottom of the stairs or on the floor. Do not place cleaner on stairs or furniture, as it may result in injury or damage.

• When using tools, always ensure the handle is in an upright position.

• Do not use to pick up flammable or combustible liquids, such as gasoline, or use in areas where they may be present.

• Unplug before connecting Turbo Tool.

• Do not pick up anything that is burning or smoking, such as cigarettes, matches, or hot ashes.

• Do not use without filters and/or dirt cups in place.

CAUTION: TO REDUCE THE RISK OF DAMAGE:

• Avoid picking up hard, sharp objects with this product, as they may cause damage.
• Store appropriately indoors in a dry place. Do not expose the machine to freezing temperatures.
• Do not use sharp objects to clean out the hose as they can cause damage.
• With brush roll on, do not allow cleaner to sit in one location for an extended period of time, as damage to floor can result.
• The brush roll continues to turn while the product is turned on and the handle is in the upright position. To avoid damage to carpet, rugs, and flooring, avoid tipping cleaner or setting it on furniture, fringed area rugs, or carpeted stairs during tool use.

WARNING: TO REDUCE THE RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK, THIS PRODUCT HAS A POLARIZED PLUG (ONE BLADE IS WIDER THAN THE OTHER). THIS PLUG WILL FIT IN A POLARIZED OUTLET ONLY ONE WAY. IF THE PLUG DOES NOT FIT FULLY IN THE OUTLET, REVERSE THE PLUG. IF IT STILL DOES NOT FIT, CONTACT A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN TO INSTALL THE PROPER OUTLET. DO NOT CHANGE THE PLUG IN ANY WAY.
NOTICE:
A THERMAL PROTECTOR HAS BEEN DESIGNED INTO YOUR CLEANER TO PROTECT IT FROM OVERHEATING. WHEN THE THERMAL
PROTECTOR ACTIVATES THE CLEANER WILL STOP RUNNING.

If this happens proceed as follows:

1. Turn the cleaner OFF and unplug it from the electrical outlet.
2. Empty dirt cup.
3. Inspect the nozzle inlet, hose connector, hose, dirt cup inlet, cyclonic filter, and rinsable filater. Clear obstructions if present.
4. When the cleaner is unplugged and the motor cools for 30 minutes, the thermal protector will deactivate, and cleaning may continue.

If the thermal protector continues to activate after following the above steps, your cleaner needs servicing.

ASSEMBLY

1. Assemble from the front of the unit and slide the back panel down into place. Then slide the handle into the top.| 2. Using a Phillips-head screwdriver, secure the back panel to the base with the two smaller screws.

3. Using a Phillips-head screwdriver, drive a larger screw into the back panel to secure to the base.| 4. Assemble the dirt cup and make sure the cyclonic assembly is aligned in the notch, and twist the lid into the locked position.
|
5. Place the dirt cup into position and push back to lock it into the back panel.| 6. Attach the extension hose at both ends on the back of the unit and route the hose around the upper handle hose hook. Then place tools in on-board
storage and wrap cord around cord hooks
| 7. Plug the power cord into an outlet and press the ON/OFF pedal to turn it on. Push the handle release button and pull back to recline.

HEIGHT ADJUST

THE FOLLOWING HEIGHT SETTINGS ARE RECOMMENDED FOR MAXIMUM CLEANING PERFORMANCE.

ABOVE FLOOR CLEANING

CAUTION: Use extra care when cleaning on stairs. To avoid personal injury or damage, and to prevent the cleaner from falling, always place the cleaner at bottom of the stairs or on the floor. Do not place cleaner on stairs or furniture, as it may result in injury or damage. When using tools, always ensure the handle is in an upright position.

1. Remove Quick Release Cleaning Handle Wand for convenience above floor cleaning.
2. Insert the hose into the handle wand.
3. Attach extension wand and 2-in-1 tool for improved cleaning.
   *Accessories not included on all models.

HOW TO

If the appliance is not working as it should, has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into water, call customer service at 1-800-321-1134 prior to continuing use.

EMPTY THE DIRT CUP

1. Push the release button (A) then pull out the dirt cup.| 2. Now ditch the dirt by pushing the lower button (B). Give it a wipe to remove dust.
| 3. Place back in the bottom first. Push the top of the cup against the back panel, and it’ll click into place.

CLEAN THE RINSABLE FILTER AND CYCLONIC ASSEMBLY

WARNING: To reduce the risk of personal injury – Unplug before cleaning or servicing. Do not use a vacuum without a dirt cup or filters in place.

1. Remove the dirt cup. Twist the handle to remove the top from the dirt cup. Gently remove the filter from the handle.
   CLEAN THE RINSABLE FILTER AND CYCLONIC ASSEMBLY (CONT’D)

2. Tap clean into a trashcan.

3.  All pieces are printable. Allow drying 24 hours before using.

4. Next, pull the cyclonic assembly out of the dirt cup.

5. Use the Dusting Tool to clean the cyclonic assembly.*

6. When reassembling, ensure the cyclonic assembly is aligned and twist the lid into the locked position.

**CLEAN THE EXHAUST FILTER***

1. Push the tab on the front of the cover to pivot out.| 2. Pull out the filter, rinse dirt from both sides, and let air dry for 24 hours before reinstalling or until dry.
| 3. Put the dry filter back. Now line up the filter cover with the bottom tabs first and then snap back into place.
*Not all models have this feature

CLEAN THE brush roll

REPLACE THE BELT
CAUTION: To reduce the risk of injury from moving parts – Unplug before servicing.

1. Turn your vacuum over. Use a Phillips screwdriver to take off the 6 screws. Remove the bottom plate.| 2. Then take off that old belt. Slide on a new belt with the lettering on the outside.

CLEAN THE BRUSH ROLL (CONT’D)

3. Pull on the belt to slip around the brush roll in an area without bristles (A) and metal pin (B). Each end of the brush roll will fi t into pockets on each side of the nozzle (C). Put the plate back on and screw it together.

LUBRICATION: The motor and brush roll are equipped with bearings that contain sufficient lubrication for their lifetime. The addition of lubricant could cause damage. Do not add lubricant to the motor or brush roll.

TROUBLESHOOTING

WARNING: To reduce the risk of personal injury – Unplug Steam Cleaner before servicing and allow cooling.
IF THE APPLIANCE IS NOT WORKING AS IT SHOULD, HAS BEEN DROPPED, DAMAGED, LEFT OUTDOORS, OR DROPPED INTO WATER, CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-800-321-1134 PRIOR TO CONTINUING USE.
THIS PRODUCT CONTAINS NO SERVICEABLE PARTS.

Plug the unit in firmly.
2. No voltage in the wall plug.| 2. Check fuse or breaker in home.
3. Blown fuse or tripped breaker.| 3. Replace fuse/reset breaker in home.
4. Thermal Protector activated.| 4. Unplug and allow the vacuum to cool for 30 min. (This will reset the thermal protector)
Dust escaping from vacuum| 1. Dirt cup full.| 1. Empty dirt cup.
2. Dirt cup was not installed correctly.| 2. Review Dirt Cup removal & replacement.
3. Hose not installed correctly.| 3. Review Hose installation.
4. Rinsable and I or Exhaust Filter not installed completely.| 4. Review Filter Removal and Cleaning.
Smoky/burning smell detected| 1. Belt broken or stretched.| 1. Replace the brush roll belt.
2. Brushroll is clogged.| 2. Clear/remove debris from brush roll.
Vacuum tools won’t pick-up| 1. Hose clogged| 1. Remove hose and tools: remove the obstruction.
2. Dirt cup full| 2. Empty dirt cup.
3. One or both filters are clogged.| 3. Remove both filters and clean.
4. Release handles and actuates the internal valve.| 4. Pull the handle up and out of the unit.
5. Vacuum not picking up debris.| 5. Brushroll could be turned off or the belt could be broken.

SERVICE INFORMATION & LIMITED WARRANTY FOR DIRT DEVIL® PRODUCTS

If this product is not as warranted, contact the Dirt Devil® Consumer Response Center at 800-321-1134. Please have available the proof of purchase and model number for the warranted product. Failure to register the product does not diminish product warranty rights.
WHAT THIS LIMITED WARRANTY COVERS: This limited warranty is provided by Royal Appliance Mfg. Co., doing business as TTI Floor Care North America (referred to hereafter as “Dirt Devil”) applies only to products purchased in the U.S. (including its territories and possessions), at a U.S. Military Exchange, or in Canada. When used and maintained in normal household use and in accordance with the Owner’s Guide, your Dirt Devil® product is warranted against original defects in material and workmanship for the number of years from the date of original purchase stated above (the “Warranty Period”).
If Dirt Devil determines that the issue you are experiencing is covered under the terms of this warranty (a “covered warranty claim”), we will, at our sole discretion and free of charge (subject to the cost of shipping), either repair your product or ship you a replacement product, subject to availability. Parts and replacements may be new, refurbished, lightly used, or manufactured, at Dirt Devil’s sole discretion. If parts and replacements are unavailable, we may, at our discretion, provide a similar product of equal or greater value, a store credit (if applicable), or a refund of the actual purchase price at the time of the original purchase, as refl acted on the original sales receipt.
WHO THIS LIMITED WARRANTY COVERS: This limited warranty extends only to the original retail purchaser, with original proof of purchase from Dirt Devil or an authorized dealer of Dirt Devil products, in the U.S., U.S. Military Exchanges, and Canada.
WHAT THIS LIMITED WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER: This warranty does not cover the use of the product in a commercial operation (such as maid, janitorial, and equipment rental services, or any other income-generating activity); improper maintenance of the product; the product if it has been subject to misuse, negligence, neglect, vandalism, or the use of voltages other than that on the data plate of this product. This warranty does not cover damage resulting from an act of God, accident, owner’s acts or
omissions, service of this product by other than Dirt Devil or a Dirt Devil authorized service provider (if applicable), or other acts beyond the control of Dirt Devil. This warranty also does not cover use outside the country in which the product was initially purchased, or resale of the product by the original owner. Pick-up, delivery, transportation, and house calls are not covered by this warranty. In addition, this warranty does not cover any product that has been altered or modifi ed; repairs made necessary by normal wear; or the use of parts or accessories which are either incompatible with the Dirt Devil product or adversely affect its operation, performance, or durability. Normal wear items that are not covered under this warranty include, but are not limited to, belts, filters, brush rolls, vacuum tubes, and vacuum bags and straps.
OTHER IMPORTANT TERMS: This warranty is not transferable and may not be assigned; any assignment made in contravention of this prohibition is void. This warranty shall be governed and construed under the laws of the state of North Carolina. The Warranty Period will not be extended by any replacement of batteries or parts or repair performed under this warranty.
THIS WARRANTY IS THE EXCLUSIVE WARRANTY AND REMEDY, AND ALL EXPRESS AND IMPLIED WARRANTIES OTHER THAN THE LIMITED WARRANTY SET FORTH ABOVE, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ARE EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMED. IN NO EVENT WILL DIRT DEVIL BE LIABLE FOR ANY SPECIAL, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES OF ANY KIND OR NATURE TO THE OWNER OR ANY PARTY CLAIMING THROUGH THE OWNER, WHETHER BASED ON CONTRACT, NEGLIGENCE, TORT, OR STRICT PRODUCTS LIABILITY OR ARISING FROM ANY CAUSE WHATSOEVER. TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, NO WARRANTIES THAT ARISE BY OPERATION OF LAW, IF APPLICABLE, SHALL EXCEED THE DURATION OF THE LIMITED WARRANTY PROVIDED HEREIN.
Dirt Devil’s liability for damages to you for any costs whatsoever arising out of this statement of the limited warranty shall be limited to the amount paid for this product at the time of original purchase and Dirt Devil shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, consequential, or incidental damages arising out of the use or inability to use this product. Both the disclaimer and the limitations of liability set forth above shall apply even in the event that this limited warranty fails of its essential purpose.
Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, disclaimers of implied warranties, or limitations on the duration of implied warranties, so the above exclusions, disclaimers, and/or limitations may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specifi c legal rights, and you may also have other rights, which vary from state to state.
