Function/Application
Current and voltage multimeter for taking measurements in the range of overvoltage category CAT III up to max. 600V. thermometer can be used to measure DC and AC voltages and direct and alternating currents, resistance and for continuity tests within the specific ranges. Furthermore, the device features an aMPEAK function, a MAX/MIN display, a hold function, and a True RMS measurement (Root-Mean-Square) function. The device is also equipped with a torch and an illuminated display.
Safety instructions
- The device must only be used in accordance with its intended] purpose and within the scope of the specifications.
- Before taking any measurements, make sure that both the area to be tested (e.g. a line), the test device, and the accessories used (e.g. connection cable) are in proper working order. Test] the device by connecting it to known voltage sources (e.g. a] 230 V socket in the case of AC testing or a car battery in the case of DC testing). Stop using the device if one or a number of its functions fails.
- If you are working with voltages higher than 25 V AC/60 V DC, exercise extreme caution. Touching the electrical conductors at such voltages poses a risk of life-threatening electric shocks.
- Make sure that you always select the correct connections, the correct rotary switch position, and the correct range for the measurement to be taken.
- Before measuring or checking the resistance, continuity, and diodes or capacitance, disconnect the power supply to the electric circuit. Check that all high-voltage capacitors are discharged.
- Only the original measuring leads may be used. Their voltage, category and ampere rated powers must match those of the measuring device.
- If you have to take hold of the measuring spikes, do so by the grip sections only. Do not touch the measuring contacts whilst the measurement is being taken.
- Do not use the device in environments in which there are conductive particles or where the occurrence of moisture (in the form of condensation, for example) can create transient conductivity.
- If the device comes into contact with moisture or another conductive residue, work must not be carried out under voltage.
- At and above voltages of 25 V AC/60 V DC, the presence of moisture creates the risk of life-threatening electric shocks. Clean and dry the device before use. When using the device outdoors, make sure that the weather conditions are appropriate and/or that suitable protection measures are taken.
- If you are taking measurements in the hazardous vicinity of electrical installations, do not work alone and seek guidance from an electrically skilled person before starting work.
- Isolate the device from all current sources before opening the battery compartment cover.
- If possible, do not work alone.
Symbols
- Danger area warning
- Hazardous electrical voltage warning:
- Unprotected live components inside the device housing may pose a risk of electric shock.
- Protection class II: The test device has reinforced or double insulation.
- Overvoltage category III: Equipment in fixed installations and for applications where specific requirements with regard to the reliability and availability of equipment have to be met, e.g. circuit-breakers in fixed installations and devices used in industrial applications which are permanently connected to the fixed installation.

AUTO OFF function
In order to preserve the batteries, the device switches off automatically if left idle for 10 minutes. A signal sounds in advance.
Insertion of batteries
AC current measurements
- Turn the rotary switch to position „200A AC“.
- Place the current clamp around a line.
- The measured value is shown on the LC display.
PEAK hold function
- Turn the rotary switch to position „200A AC“ and press the „MAX/MIN“ button, to activate the PEAK function.
- Place the current clamp around a line.
- Switch on the consumer unit you want to measure. The significant cant maximum value (10 ~ 282.8 A) is displayed. The measuring device can detect fast current peaks (<10 milliseconds).
True RMS (ACA / ACV)
When measuring AC voltage/current, the device displays the true RMS value regardless of the waveform.
- Peak value
- Peak-to-peak value
- RMS value
- Cycle duration
DC current measurements
- Turn the rotary switch to position „200A DC“ and press and hold the „MAX/MIN“ button for 2 seconds to reset the device.
- Place the Current clamp around a line.
- The measured value is shown on the LC display. By pressing the „MAX/MIN“ button, the minimum and maximum values are measured and displayed.
AC/DC voltage measurements
- Connect the red test prod to the V input socket (12) and the black test prod to the COM input socket (8).
- Turn the rotary switch to position „V AC/DC“. The device displays the „AC“ voltage mode. Press the „MAX/MIN“ button and hold it down for 2 seconds to measure the DC voltage.
- Connect the measuring contacts to the object to be tested.
- The measured value is shown on the LC display. By pressing the „MAX/MIN“ button, the minimum and maximum values are measured and displayed.
- When measuring voltage, the resistance measurement and continuity test functions must not be activated.
DCA Zero
When measuring DC voltages, reset the value by pressing the „MAX/MIN“ button and holding it down for 2 seconds to calibrate the electronic measuring equipment. By pressing the „MAX/MIN“ button repeatedly, the minimum and maximum values are measured displayed.
Resistance measurement
- Resistances can only be measured correctly in isolation; therefore, the components might need to be disconnected from the remainder of the circuit.
- Connect the red test prod to the V input socket (12) and the black test prod to the COM input socket (8).
- Turn the rotary switch to position.
- Connect the measuring contacts to the object to be tested.
- The measured value is shown on the LC display. If the measured value is < 30, a signal sounds.
- When measuring resistance, to avoid the risk of the results of a measurement being distorted, there must be no traces of dirt, oil, solder spray or other contamination on the test prods.
- When measuring resistance, the components must be zero-potential.
MAX/MIN function
- Press the „MAX/MIN“ button to deactivate the function.
- The measured „MAX“ value is shown on the display and is automatically updated when a new maximum value is detected.
- Press the button again to display the „MIN“ value. This value is updated when a new „MIN“ value is detected.
- Press the „MAX/MIN“ button again, to display the current value. The „MAX“ and „MIN“ values are still being updated.
- Press the button and hold it down for 2 seconds to exit this mode.
Continuity test
- Connect the red test prod to the V input socket (12) and the black test prod to the COM input socket (8).
- Turn the rotary switch to position.
- Connect the measuring contacts to the object to be tested. If the test has been positive, an acoustic signal sounds. (< 30)
- For continuity tests, the components must be zero-potential.
Hold function
- To briefly hold the current measured value, press the „HOLD“ button. In order to take measurements, this function must be deactivated by pressing the button again.
Voltage detection, non-contact (AC warning)
The non-contact voltage detector integrated into the meter is able to detect AC voltages from 100 V to 600 V. Switch the device on and run the voltage sensor along the object to be tested (5 – 10 mm). The display (9) lights up if AC voltage is detected.
- Non-contact voltage detection is no substitute for conventional voltage testing. As the device detects an electrical field, it will react even to static charge.
Voltage detection, single-pole phase test
Remove the black test prod from the device. Turn the rotary switch to position „V AC/DC“ and connect the red test prod to the phase or neutral conductor. The red display (9) only lights up if the phase conductor is live. When the single-pole phase test is carried out on the outer conductor, the indicator function may be adversely affected under certain conditions (e.g. when insulating personnel protective equipment is used or at insulated locations).
- The single-pole phase test is not suitable for checking for zero voltage. To do this, you need to carry out a two-pole phase test.
Flashlight function
- To switch on the flashlight, press and hold down the corresponding button. The light switches itself off automatically as soon as the button is released.
Backlight
- To switch the backlighting on, press the „Hold“ button (11) and hold it down for 2 seconds. Press the „Hold“ button twice, to switch the backlighting off.
Calibration
- The meter needs to be calibrated and tested on a regular basis to ensure it produces accurate measurement results. We recommend carrying out calibration once a year.
