It is designed to safely transport the physically disabled and to ensure children are sitting securely in vehicles. The seat is always fastened using the vehicle’s own three-point seat belt. The five-point positioning harness in the rehab car seat helps to position and support the child in an upright sitting position.
The rehab car seat provides additional support to help the passenger sit securely, stabilises head control, provides secure seating for the hip area, and a footrest. In addition, the product has a wide range of accessories for customised adjustments.
Any use that goes above and beyond this does not comply with the intended use.

Indication / Patient Target Group / Intended Users
The rehab car seat is for children with structural and / or functional limitations or poor head and torso posture. It pro-vides a stable, physiological position if a standard child car seat does not securely support the child while seated in the vehicle.

Accessories

Remarks: Installation information is found in the Instructions for Use, which are enclosed with the accessory. If the copy of the Instructions for Use is missing, you can download one from www.thomashilfen.de. The assembly / disassembly of the accessories is done with standard tools. Adapter plate (Fig. 17) The adapter plate is needed to use another accessory. It is attached at the front on the seat surface of the rehab car seat. Swivel base with adapter (Fig. 18) With the swivel feature the rehab car seat can be turned towards the vehicle’s door. For caregivers transferring the user and accessing the car seat’s 5-point positioning harness is made easier. For the user it is easier to get in and out independently. Other accessories can be attached to the adapter at the front of the rehab care seat at the same time. Back stabiliser (Fig. 19) Back stabilisers hold in place the movable back of the rehab car seat. When using the swivel function, they prevent the back of the car seat from accidently folding back. Seatfix adapter (Fig. 20) ISOFIX can be used in the vehicle with the Seatfix adapter to increase the stability of the rehab car seat. Extra stability is especially needed if the swivel feature (and / or tilt feature) is also being used. The Seatfix adapter also secures the car seat in the vehicle when it is not being used. Stabilising bow (Fig. 21) The stabilising bow is attached to the back of the rehab car seat and pushed between the gap between the seat surface and seatback of the vehicle’s seat. It is suitable if ISOFIX can’t be used. Extra stability is especially needed if the swivel feature (and / or tilt feature) is also being used. Stand (Fig. 22) The stand helps to stabilise the rehab car seat. Extra stability is especially needed if the swivel feature (and / or tilt fea-ture) is also being used. Seat wedge, below (Fig. 23) The seat wedge (below) is put on the vehicle’s seat under the rehab car seat to tilt the car seat. Tilting the seat back is good for children with little body tension and / or poor head control. The seat wedge is positioned centrically below the car seat. The high edge is at the front to achieve an optimum rest position of the child. Please note: Function of the swivel base is considerably reduced if being used in combination with the seat wedge. We therefore do not recommend using seat wedge and swivel base at the same time. Fig. 24: Positioning seat on seat wedge / Fig. 25: Final position40006 RECARO Monza Nova 2 Reha Disabled

Instructions for Use – RECARO Monza Nova 2 Reha
Seat wedge, inside (Fig. 26)
The seat wedge (inside) is put on the seat surface or at the lower back of the rehab car seat. With it the user’s sitting position can be changed quickly and flexibly such as for an active or passive sitting posture, to reduce seat depth, or for a more stable sitting position.
The seat wedge (inside) can be fastened to the seat surface at 3 different positions:

  1. An active posture is achieved by placing the seat wedge on the seat with the high side facing the back.
  2. Hook and loop-fasten the seat wedge with the flat side facing rearwards for a more passive posture / rest position.
  3. In order to reduce the seat depth or to achieve a bigger hip angle, you can also hook and loop-fasten the seat wedge to the rear of the seat in an upright position with the broad side facing downwards.

The two lateral pads for additional protection are hook and loop-fastened to the sides.
Fig. 27: Active / Fig. 28: Passive
Fig. 29: Back / Fig. 30: With lateral pads
Table (Fig. 31)
The table is put in front of the user’s stomach. It gives the user stability and a sense of security. The user can lean on it and sit upright better. It blocks the view to the belt buckle and keeps the user from unbuckling it. The user can do activities on the surface. Slide the table onto the two sides of the seat surface. The table is fastened on both sides with two hook and loop strips each. Guide the hook and loop strips of the table through the plastic rings at the seat / seat back (pelvic belt). Fig. 32: Attaching the table / Fig. 33: Attaching belts to seat Soft harness strap cover (Fig. 34) The soft harness strap cover protects the user’s shoulders from painful pressure and gashes from the belts.
Chest clip (Fig. 35) The chest clip connects the shoulder straps of the rehab car seats (buckle closure). They prevent the belts from twisting and slipping. The belts sit snugly on the user and prevent the user from squirming out of them.Footrest (Fig. 39) With the footrest the user sits firmly in the rehab car seat because they can support their legs. This prevents the user from sliding out of the seat onto the floor of the vehicle. The footrest can be folded to make it easier to get in and out. With the footrest the user can practice getting in and out of the seat independently. If the swivel base is being used the footrest is attached to the footrest adapter integrated in the swivel base. In this case, make sure to always secure the footrest against falling off with the hand knob provided with the user manual. The re-ceiver for the hand knob (metal block with thread) is situated on the left tube of the footrest adapter.
To stabilize the footrest on the vehicle floor adjust the height of the support bars by screwing them in or out until they have contact with the vehicle. Then lock the support bars with the hand knobs to prevent them unscrewing acciden-tally. Screw the hand knobs upwards as far as possible and tighten them fast. Lower leg length: The lower leg length is adjusted by changing the height of the footrest. Loosen both outer screws. Retighten them after each adjustment. Foot angle: Loosen the four screws left and right on the underside of the footrest to adjust the desired foot angle with the rails. Then retighten the screws. Please note: The footrest cannot be used in combination with the seat depth extension. Note: If the footrest should firmly be screwed to the seat, the “footrest adapter” (item code: 821) is required.

Instructions for Use – RECARO Monza Nova 2 Reha Seat depth extension (Fig. 36) With the seat depth extension the seat surface of the rehab car seat is extended. The longer thighs of bigger users are better supported for a stable sitting position. If the swivel base is being used the seat depth extension is attached to the footrest adapter integrated in the swivel base. In this case, make sure to always secure the seat depth extension against falling off with the hand knob provided with the user manual. The receiver for the hand knob (metal block with thread) is situated on the left tube of the footrest adapter. Please note: The seat depth extension cannot be used in combination with the footrest.
Fig. 37: Insert the seat depth extension / Fig. 38: Secure Anti-escape vest (Fig. 43) The anti-escape vest prevents the child from squirming out of the car seat. Dangerous spaces between the belt and the child will be discovered which the child might take advantage of to slip off the belt. Car seat protection mat with back (Fig. 44) The car seat protection mat is under the child’s car seat on the seat of the vehicle and the seatback. It protects the seat surface and the seatback of the vehicle from damage. Small items can be stored in the front pockets.40006 RECARO Monza Nova 2 Reha Disabled Children
