INSTRUCTION MANUAL WILFA FORMAT
Congratulations on your new Wilfa Format – kettle, which is a product of the Wilfa family. It will give you precise heating of the water. Different drinks have different temperatures, which Wilfa Format will give you.
For different tea, varieties recommended different temperatures. At high temperatures, some sort of tea will give the drink a bitter taste. Light tea varieties such as white tea,  reen tea, and yellow tea are recommended for water temperature of 70°C – 85°C. For black tea, varieties recommended up to boiling water, between 90°C – 100°C. The ability o heat up to 40°C, is a convenient temperature for preparing baby food.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

  • Read this manual thoroughly before using it and save it for future reference.
  • This product is intended for indoor, non-industrial, non-commercial, and household use only. Do not use the item outdoors or for any other purpose.
  • Keep the appliance away from heat sources, direct sunlight, moisture, and sharp edges.
  • Do not use it with wet hands. Unplug immediately if the unit is damp or wet. Do not immerse in water.
  • When the unit is cleaned or put away, it must be turned off and the plug must be pulled out of the socket (pull the plug, not the cable).
  • This appliance can be used by children aged 8 years and above if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance in a safe way and if they understand the hazards involved. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are aged 8 years and above and supervised. Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children aged less than 8 years.
  • Appliances can be used by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance in a safe way and if they understand the hazards involved.
  • Children shall not play with the appliance.
  • If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.
  • If the kettle is overfilled, boiling water may be ejected.
  • Use only original spare parts.
  • To protect against the risk of electrical shock, do not immerse the cord, plug or appliance in water or other liquid.
  • The appliance is only to be used with the stand provided.
  • Avoid spillage on the connector.
  • Be especially aware of the “special safety instructions” below.

SPECIAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

  • The device must only be filled with cold water.
  • The water level must be between the MAX and MIN marks. If the water level exceeds the maximum level, the boiling water and steam may be ejected, which might arise a hazard to the user.
  • The device switches off automatically when removed from the base plate. The kettle must only be used with the included base plate.
  • Always make sure that the lid is properly closed.
  • Unplug when not in use.

FIRST USE OF THE MACHINE

Please read these instructions carefully and keep them in a safe place. Boil fresh water in the kettle at least twice before it is used for the first time. Use only plain water with no additives or ingredients.

ELECTRICAL CONNECTION

Check the voltage where you use the device is the same as specified on the appliance. For details on the label on the base plate.

USE

  • Press the opening button to open the lid. Then fill the kettle with cold water and close the lid by pressing down the cover until it locks.
  • Important note: On the kettle body there is a water level gauge. Please make sure not to fill in more than the maximum level as marked on the gauge. If the kettle is overfilled,  boiling water can be spilled out. Put the kettle on the base. On the base station, there is the “ ” button for selecting different water temperatures.
  • Note: flashing light indicates the current water temperature in the kettle, steady light means the target temperature.
  • Press the “ ” button which corresponds to your desired temperature. Press the “wilfa” button to light up and the boiling process begins. As soon as the water reaches the target temperature, the boiling stops and the “wilfa” button light off. The heating element switches off automatically and the process has been completed. Now the unit can be lifted up and the water can be used.

KEEP WARM

  • The “KEEP WARM” function allows you to maintain a specific temperature. Press “ ” and select a temperature between 40/70/80/90/100°C. Once you have selected your desired temperature, press the “wilfa” button. Then the kettle heats up to the previously set value and holds it for 25 minutes.

DESCALING AND CLEANING

  • We recommend decalcifying the kettle in regular intervals, depending on the intensity of use. Before cleaning, it is essential to remove the power plug from the socket and wait until the device is completely cooled down.
  • The scale filter is located prior to the spout. To remove the filter, open the cover and push the plastic flap downwards. Then deep clean the taken filter with warm water and insert it into the holder again. When inserting the filter, take care that the retaining lug is fixed to the guide rail.
  • Only use conventional descaling agents based on citric acid. Please follow the manufacturer´s instructions for dosing the respective product you have chosen.
  • The heating element must not be cleaned and never be processed with sharp or hard objects.
  • For cleaning the outer surface of the kettle, only use a damp cloth. Never use hard or abrasive objects like a wire brush or a steel sponge for cleaning.
  • Please do not use any aggressive cleaning agents which could be harmful to human consumption or damage the surface.

GUARANTEE

Wilfa issues a 5-year guarantee on this product from the day of purchase is done. The guarantee covers production failure or defects that arise during the guarantee period. Your purchase receipt works as proof towards the retailer if claiming your guarantee.
The guarantee is valid only for products that are bought and used in private households. The guarantee is not valid if the product is used commercially. The guarantee is not valid f the product is misused, used by negligence, if not following instructions given by Wilfa, if modified or if unauthorized reparation is done. The guarantee is also not valid  or normal wear of the product, misuse, lack of maintenance, use of wrong electrical voltage or:

  • Not descaled according to the instruction manual
  • Overloading of product
