Registering a handset to a base unit
For KX-TGD890/KX-TGF890 series users:
The supplied handset is pre-registered. You do not have to perform the
following procedure.
For additional handset KX-TGDA99 users:

Base unit:
Press and hold {LOCATOR} for about 5 seconds.- If all registered handsets start ringing, press {LOCATOR} again to stop, then repeat this step.

Handset:
Place the handset on the charger, then wait until a long beep sounds and is displayed.
Note: If an error tone sounds, or if is displayed, register the handset according to the base unit’s operating instructions.
By pairing a Bluetooth headphone to the handset, you can enjoy hands-free conversations when talking over the phone.
Available Bluetooth devices
A max. of 4 units can be paired to a handset.
Important:
- Your Bluetooth headphone must support the Hands Free Profile (HFP) specification.
- Only 1 Bluetooth headphone can be used with the unit at a time.
- For best performance, we recommend using your Bluetooth headphone within 3 m (10 feet) of the handset. The handset can communicate with Bluetooth headphones within an approximately 10 m (33 feet) range without any obstacles or line of sight.

A dedicated keypad allows you to pair or connect your handset to wireless headphones.
A Bluetooth headphone is connected to the handset.1

Turning Bluetooth feature on
Once Bluetooth is turned on, the handset can perform other Bluetooth
functions. The default setting is “Off”.
Pairing a Bluetooth headphone to the handset

Bluetooth headphone:
Set your headphone to pairing mode.*1 -
Handset:
Press and hold {PAIR} button for about 3 seconds. (Headphone pairing is displayed on the handset) -
Wait until a long beep sounds.
When the Bluetooth headphone is ready for use, is displayed.*2 -

Corresponding headphone number is indicated next to the item.
Note: In step 2, if the handset has been paired with a maximum of 4
headphones, you can overwrite any unwanted headphone by pressing
{YES} s {r}: Select the desired headphone. s {SELECT}˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜
Connecting Bluetooth headphone
Headphones that are on*1 can be connected automatically with the paired handset.
1 Please refer to the headphone’s operating instructions.
If the headphone is not connecting automatically, connect manually.
- Press {PAIR} s {r}: Select the desired headphone. s {SELECT}
- {r}: “Connect” s {SELECT}
- A long beep sounds.
- If another headphone is already connected, the unit prompts you to disconnect the Bluetooth connection with the current headphone s {YES}
- {OFF}

- Refer to your headphone’s operating instructions for details.
- Some features described here may not be available depending on Bluetooth headphone.
Making calls with your headphone
Important: Only 1 Bluetooth headphone can be used with the unit at a time.

Turn on your headphone.

Lift the handset and then dial the phone number.
To correct a digit, press {CLEAR}. -
Press {PAIR}
- If only 1 Bluetooth headphone is paired and connected, the unit starts dialing immediately.
- If 2 or more Bluetooth headphones are paired, {r}: Select the desired headphone. s {SELECT}
Switching sound during a call/an intercom call
You can switch between the receiver of handset, speakerphone and your
headphone.
Switching sound during a call/an intercom call
- To switch to your headphone: 1 Turn on your headphone.
- Press {PAIR} on the handset.
- The call is automatically switched when there is only 1 Bluetooth headphone is paired and connected.
- If 2 or more Bluetooth headphones are paired, ˜˜{r}: Select the desired headphone. s {SELECT}
To switch to your receiver of the handset: Press {TALK/s} on the handset.
To switch to your speakerphone of the handset: Press {TALK/s} on the handset.
Note: You cannot switch sound while the call is on hold.
Answering calls with your headphone

Turn on your headphone.

You can answer the call in the following situations:
-
If the headphone is already connected and after you hear the ring in the headphone:
Press {PAIR} on the handset or press your headphone’s button to receive the call. -
If you do not hear the incoming call ring in the headphone:
Press {TALK/s} or {PAIR} on the handset to connect your call to headphone. Answered call will automatically be directed to the speakerphone while Bluetooth connection is established between the handset and headphone.

Note:
- Depending on your headphone, it may take some time to switch the call from the handset to headphone. During this time “Connecting” is displayed on the handset.
- The call is automatically switched when there is only 1 Bluetooth headphone is paired and connected.
- If 2 or more Bluetooth headphones are paired, {r}: Select the desired headphone. s {SELECT}

Disconnecting a Bluetooth headphone
If you want to use your headphones with another Bluetooth device, you may need to disconnect them manually by the following method.
Important:
Make sure that the headphone is turned on.

To disconnect:
Press {PAIR} s {r}: Select the desired headphone. s {SELECT} -
{r}: “Disconnect” s {SELECT}
- A long beep sounds.

{OFF}
Note : A disconnected headphone is not unpaired from the handset, so pairing it to the handset again is unnecessary.
Unpairing a Bluetooth headphone
You can remove the Bluetooth headphone information stored in your handset.
- Press {PAIR} s {r}: Select the desired headphone. s {SELECT}
- {r}: “Unpair” s {SELECT}
- {r}: “Yes” s {SELECT}
- A long beep sounds.
- {OFF}
Changing the headphone name
The name of the paired headphone will be displayed while talking using a
Bluetooth headphone or in the headphone list. You can customize the name of
paired Bluetooth headphones.
- Press {PAIR} s {r}: Select the desired headphone. s {SELECT}
- {r}: “Change name” s {SELECT} s Enter the desired name. (16 characters max.)
- {SAVE} s {OFF}
Note: When the headphone is unpaired, the headphone name stored in the handset will be deleted.
Turning Bluetooth feature off
If you do not use Bluetooth headphones, you can turn off the Bluetooth
setting using the following method.
- {MENU}
- {r}: “Off” s {SAVE}
- {OFF}
This can also be set by scrolling through the display menu.
- {MENU} s {r}: “Bluetooth”*1 s {SELECT}
- {r}: “On/Off” s {SELECT}
- {r}: “Off” s {SAVE}s{OFF}
*1 If the handset is registered to a base unit that supports the link to cell feature, “Bluetooth (Handset)” is displayed.

Why am I unable to pair a Bluetooth headphone to the handset? | ● Confirm that |
your Bluetooth headphone supports the Hands Free Profile (HFP) specification.
If your headphone do not support the HFP specification, your headphone is not compatible to be paired with the handset.
● Your headphone is turned off. Turn it on.
● Make sure that the Bluetooth headphone is not connected to another Bluetooth device.
Why am I unable to connect a Bluetooth headphone to the handset?| ● Although the unit tried to connect to the headphone, the connection has failed.
– Make sure that the Bluetooth headphone is not connected to another Bluetooth devices.
– The headphone is turned off or the battery is low. Turn it on or fully charge the headphone.
– The Bluetooth headphone is out of range. Move closer and try again.
– The Bluetooth headphone is in the cradle. Lift the headphone.
Why noise is heard during a call on the headphone?| ● A Bluetooth headphone
can communicate with the handset within a range of approximately 10 m (33
feet). The connection may be subject to interference from obstructions such as
walls or electronic devices. Move closer to the handset.
How can I adjust the headphone receiver volume?| ● Refer to your headphone’s
operating instructions.
● Press {^} or {V} repeatedly on the handset while using your headphone.
