HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY

IMPORTANT - HIGH ALTITUDE LOCATIONS

Water boils at lower temperatures at high altitudes. For every 152 meters (500 feet) above sea level, the boiling point of water will be 0.5°C (1°F) lower than the boiling point of 100°C (212°F) at sea level. This Kettle has been calibrated to automatically shut-off when water boils for approximately 30 - 40 seconds, regardless of the requested temperature.

The temperature settings below the boil temperature of 100°C (212°F) will not be affected by high altitude.

GROUNDED PLUG

To reduce the risk of electric shock this appliance has a grounded plug (2 blades and 1 pin). If the plug does not fit fully into the electrical outlet contact a qualified electrician. Do not modify the plug in any way or use an adaptor.

WATER TEMPERATURE GUIDE
The following is a general guide for brewing different types of tea. Brand and freshness of tea including each individuals taste and preference differs.

If your tea box/container has brewing instructions, follow those as they are probably ideal for that specific tea.

Green tea 80°C / 176°F 1-3 minutes
White tea 80°C / 176°F 4-8 minutes
Oolong tea 90°C / 194°F 1-8 minutes
Black tea 90°C / 194°F 3-5 minutes
Herbal tea 90°C / 194°F 5-8 minutes
Boil 100°C / 212°F

Your kettle can also be used for bringing the water to the perfect temperature for the following. Please remember that these are guidelines only.

Others: Water Temperature
Baby formula preparation 40°C / 104°F (water should have been previously

boiled)
Hot Chocolate| 80°C / 176°F
Instant soup mixes| 90°C / 194°F

CARE AND CLEANING

1. All servicing, other than cleaning, should be performed by an authorized service representative. See Warranty section.
2. Unplug Kettle from wall outlet. Empty the Kettle and allow it to cool before cleaning.

Exterior
– Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the exterior.
– DO NOT use abrasive cleaners. Dry exterior thoroughly before use.
– DO NOT immerse kettle or power base in water or other liquid.

3. Descaling
Under normal use, scale build-up will form on the inside of the kettle and will coat the stainless steel plate. Scale, which has accumulated inside the kettle must be removed by boiling equal parts of white vinegar and water (500ml/ 2 cups of each is recommended). Once the water has boiled, allow the mixture to stand several hours or overnight. Empty out mixture and fill kettle to the MAX level with fresh water. Bring water to a boil and discard. For heavy scale build-up, use pure vinegar and let stand overnight. Empty out vinegar and fill kettle to the MAX level with fresh water. Bring water to a boil and discard.
This descaling process should be repeated periodically.

NOTE: Scale build-up can be delayed by pouring out water after use then refilling the kettle when required.

A short supply cord is provided to reduce the hazards of becoming entangled in or tripping over a long cord. Extension cords may be used if care is exercised in their use. If an extension cord is used, the marked electrical rating of the detachable power-supply cord or extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance. If the appliance is of the grounded type, the extension cord should be a grounded 3-wire cord. The extension cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the counter top or table top, where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over.
