Installation

  1. Find the camera connector, gently pull the plastic catch up.ArduCam-B0367-18MP-Color-Camera-Module-3
  2. Insert the ribbon cable with pins facing away from the catch.ArduCam-B0367-18MP-Color-Camera-Module-4
  3. Push the catch back in.ArduCam-B0367-18MP-Color-Camera-Module-5
  4. Connect the camera to Raspberry Pi, with pins facing away from the catch.ArduCam-B0367-18MP-Color-Camera-Module-6
  5. Connect the 2-pin power cable.ArduCam-B0367-18MP-Color-Camera-Module-7
  6. Connect the 2-pin cable to Raspberry Pi’s GPIO (5V & GND).ArduCam-B0367-18MP-Color-Camera-Module-8

Operating The Camera

Before You Start

  • Make sure you are running a newer version of Raspberry Pi OS. (04/04/2022 or later releases)
  • A fresh install is highly recommended.

Step 1. Install the camera driver

When you see the reboot prompt, press y and then press enter to reboot.

Step 2. Pull the repository.

git clone
https://github.com/ArduCAM/Arducam_tof_camera.git

Step 3. Change the directory to Arducam_tof_camera
cd Downloads/Arducam_tof_camera

Step 4. Install dependencies

  • chmod +x Install_dependencies.sh
  • Install_dependencies.sh

Raspberry Pi will automatically reboot.

Step 5. Change the directory to Arducam_tof_camera
cd Downloads/Arducam_tof_camera

Step 6. compile & run

  • chmod +x compile.sh
  • compile.sh

Once it’s successfully complied, live previews of the camera will automatically pop up.

Instructions for Safe Use

To properly use the Arudcam ToF Camera, kindly note:

  • Before connecting, you should always power the Raspberry Pi off and remove the power supply first.
  • Make sure the cable on the camera board is locked in place.
  • Make sure the cable is correctly inserted in the Raspberry Pi board’s MIPI CSI-2 connec-tor.
  • Avoid high temperatures.
  • Avoid water, moisture, or conductive surfaces while in operation.
  • Avoid folding, or straining the flex cable.
  • Avoid cross-threading with tripods.
  • Gently push/pull the connector to avoid damaging the printed circuit board.
  • Avoid moving or handling the printed circuit board excessively while it’s in operation. Handle by the edges to avoid damages from electrostatic discharge.
  • Where the camera board is stored should be cool and as dry as possible.
  • Sudden temperature/humidity changes can cause dampness in the lens and affect the image/video quality.
