4), 5), 6), 10) Module ON/OFF/RESET/PB switch and button

The slide switch located on the left side of figure belowFigure 6:, allows to turn on or off the module. The EVB has three SMD push buttons as shown in the following figure:

Figure 6: Module ON/OFF/RESET and PB1-PB2 (PL605)

PB1 is connected only to PL605-3 to be externally wired to any desired GPIO pin on any other connector’s header. PB2 is connected only to PL605-1 to be externally wired to any desired GPIO pin on any other
connector’s header. RESET button to use as an active low HW Reset pin press and release it to unconditionally reset the module. Module ON/OFF switch, allows to turn on or off the module.

9) RUN/PROGRAM switch

The slide switch located on the left side of following figure, allows to run or program the module. This switch must be controlled with the module off.

Figure 7: RUN/PROGRAM Switch

RUN: Normal operate mode PROGRAM: Allow to update firmware through UART0.
13), 14), 15) USB 2.0 and UART
The WE310F5-I/P interface has one USB port and two UART ports as shown in the figure below.
Two UART: one 2-wires UART0 and one 4-wires high speed UART1 port. Both ports have an independent FTDI chipset to translate the UART to USB.

Figure 8: USB and UART Ports

16), 17) EVB power configuration for measuring current consumption (PL202 – PL204)
The power configuration jumper position and the description are shown below:

Power Configuration

Figure 9: Power Configuration jumpers (PL202-PL204)

Basically, the jumper PL202, PL203, PL204, are used to separate each power lines from the rest of the EVB to allow current consumption tests.

3V3 Power:

  • Place jumper on PL203 1-2 and PL204 1-2, allows to supply the 3.3V to Wi-Fi module
  • Place jumper on PL203 1-2 and PL202 1-2, allows to supply the 3.3V to another device (like USB to UART block) which use 3.3V.

1V8 Power:

  • Place jumper on PL203 5-6, allows to supply the 1.8V to audio codec.

Slide switch located on the right side of the above Figure 9:, allows to supply or cut the EVB main power.

  • ON: Allow to supply the power to EVB.
  • OFF: Allow to cut the power to EVB.

Current consumption measurement jumper and description are as shown below:

Current Consumption Measuremen

Figure 10: Current Consumption Measurement

Measure the module current consumption:

  • Place jumper on PL203 1-3 and 2-4.
  • Remove jumper on PL203 5-6 and PL202 1-2.
  • Place jumper on PL201 1-2 or 2-3 based on status of the module. 1-2: Active mode 2-3: Sleep mode
  • Connect the voltage meter to MEAS- and MEAS+.

18) SWD debug connector

The SWD comes out with a 4pin connector in our board, the pin description is shown in the figure below:

Figure 11: SWD Connector

To use SWD by using standard JTAG debugger:

  • Connect SWD_DATA to JTAG_TMS.
  • Connect SWD_CLK to JTAG_TCK.
  • Connect 3V3 and GND to respective pins.

11), 21) LEDs and GPIOs (PL606)

The WE310F5-I/P EVB has three different LED’s on the left part shown in the figure below: each LED indicates a specific status:

LED Red indicates 3V3 voltage ON.
LED Yellow is custom LED: connected only to PL606-5 to be externally wired to any desired GPIO pin on any other connector’s header.
LED Green is custom LED: connected only to PL606-7 to be externally wired to any desired GPIO pin on any other connector’s header.
The right part shown in Figure 12:, gives you the possibility to manually handle or monitoring GPIOs and ADC/PWM.

LEDs and GPIOs

7), 8), 19), 20) Other Connectors

Other connectors that can be used to wire or monitoring other signals that could be needed for development purposes are: PL705: Level translator enable connector for Arduino. Place jumper on PL705 1-2, allows to enable the level translator for Arduino. WE310F5 I/O (3.3V) to Arduino I/O (5V).

Do NOT use it when Arduino is Plugged

12) Audio jack

The REALTEK audio codec is mounted on WE310F5-I/P EVB. And analog audio in/out can be transferred through 3.5mm audio jack in the figure below:

Bottom Side Item Description

22) Arduino Uno Rev 3 Connector

The connectors on the bottom are intended to plug Arduino Uno Rev 3 to create a Kit suitable for IoT development. The WE310F5-I/P EVB can be used as Arduino Shield.

4. WE310F5-I/P BASIC OPERATIONS
General Information on Power Supply

This EVB is mainly designed for SW development,
The board can be power supplied in different ways:

  1. Direct USB supply by means of a USB cable (5V, 500mA) on micro b USB connector. EVB power can be supplied though all three USB connector.
  2. By plugging Arduino on the bottom side, if you supply Arduino Uno Rev3 board with its own supply source (Arduino Shield)

The WE310F5-I/P is not able to supply the Arduino board.
The power sources 1-2 activate a DC/DC and an LDO that create the 3V3 and 1V8 necessary to the board operation.

Program and Run the WE310F5-I/P Module

To Program and Run the module, please refer to WE310F5 AT Command Guide for more details.

Known Issues

All known issues for each revision of the WE310F5 EVB are summarized in below table.

Table 3: Known Issues

Known Issues

Even if the EVB main power is cut off using a EVB power switch, issue #2 back- powering phenomenon makes some block wrongly activates.

  • 3V3-ON LED dimly lit
  • Leakage current when power off
  • Unexpected noise from UART lines

Issue #2 back-powering issue will be fixed at future revision.(CS2106C)
