TECHPICCO 2023 Plus Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon Hood Struts Installation

Guide

Step 1 – Unpack and verify contents.

Step 2 – Gather the required tools.

Step 3 – Install fender beckets.

A. Remove fender bolt using a 10mm socket located in the middle of the inner fender.
B. Install fender bracket into this position – bracket will overhang with ball stud below aiming inward toward engine.
C. Repeat on passenger side.

Step 4 – Remove upper hood hinge nut

A. Remove the upper hood hinge nut using a 13mm socket.
B. Install the correct bracket as shown with the ball-stud pointing INWARD toward center of vehicle.

Step 5 – Mount brackets

A. Mount A – (LH or DRIVER’S SIDE) – Mount
B -(RH or PASSENGER SIDE).
B. Align bracket ‘A’ as shown, ball-stud forward aiming outward – overhanging the top of the hood hinge.
C. Tighten down with the same 13mm socket.
D. Repeat mirror image bracket ‘B’ on the RH or passenger side of the vehicle. Ball-stud should be pointing outward on both sides.

Step 6 – Install gas springs

A. Starting with the hood, snap on the large (body) of gas strut to the hood bracket. Rock with light pressure to allow the metal c-clip to spread and wrap around stud.
B. Attach lower end with someone holding up the hood to help allow socket and stud alignment.

Carefully rock the end-fitting back and forth with light pressure, DO NOT FORCE ON. The inner c-clip will expand and wrap around the ball-stud to all the socket to snap into place.
