Thank you for purchasing this Emerson Smart Set® Dual Alarm Clock Radio. This clock uses Emerson’s patented Smart Set® Automatic Time Seting System. The first time you connect this clock to your AC outlet, and after every power irruption, within seconds the clock will automatically set self to the correct Year, Month, Date, Day, and Time. In addition, all changes from Standard Time to Daylight Saving Time, and back to Standard Time, are made automatically. There are dual alarms that can be set and used independently, and both of the alarms can be programmed for everyday operation, weekdays only, or weekend s only. There is a long life lithium battery installed in ths clock when you buy it This battery can maintain the time and alarm settings for 1 to 2 years, or even longer. Preparation For Use

  • Note the serial number on the bottom of your clock and write this number in the space provided on the Warranty page of this manual.

  • Place your clock on a level surface such as a table, desk or shelf, convenient to.an AC outlet, out of direct sunlight, and away from sources of excess heat, dirt, dust, moisiure, humidily, or vibration.

  • Unwind the antenna wire and extend it full.

Protect Your Furniture
This model is equipped with non-skid rubber feet’ to prevent the product from moving when you operate the controls. These’ feet ‘are made from nonmigratingrubber material specially formulated to avoid leaving any marks or stains on your furniture. However certain types of oil based furniture polishes, wood preservatives or cleaning sprays may cause the rubber ‘feet’ to soften, and leave marks or a rubber residue on the furniture. To prevent any damage 10 your furniture we strongly recommend that you purchase small self adhesive felt pads, available at hardware stores and home improvement centers everywhere and apply these pads to the bottom of the rubbered’ before you place the product on fine wooden furniture.
Power Source
This clocks designed to operate on normal 120V 60Hz AC power only. Donor attempt to operate the clock on any other power source. You could cause damage to the clock that s not covered by your warranty. This clock should be connected to anAC outlet that is always’ive’. Do not connect it toanoutlet thatis controlled by a wall switch. When the power to the clock is interrupted, the built-in lithium battery takes over to maintain the time and alarm settings.
To maximize the life of the lithium battery keep the clock connected to a live’ AC outlet tall times.

Setting the Time Zone

Initial Default Setting at Clock Mode
IMPORTANT: The first time you connect your new Smart Set® clock radio to the AG outlet the internal computer will automatically sat the time coracle for the Eastern Time Zone, which is the initial default setting. The display will scan for a fowl seconds and then show the correct Day and Time in the Eastern zone. If you live in the Eastern Time zone, there’s nothing else to do. Your clock s set correctly and running. If you do not live in the Eastern Time zoon you must change the default 2one display 1o your own zone. You only do this one time and the Somerset® will remember the new default zone setting and will always return to that setting after power interruption.
There are 7 time zones programmed into your SmartSet® clock radio as follows:

ZONEO1—Allantic Time
ZONE 02— Eastern Time (Default Setting)
ZONE 03— Ceniral Time
ZONE 04— Mountain Time
ZONE 05— PacificTime
ZONE 06 — Yukon Time
ZONE 07 — Hawailan Time

  1. Pressand hold TIME ZONE, then release.
  2. Press or

Note : Time zone and clock settings can only be adjusted in Standby mode, where the function of Radio and Bluetooth are disabled (i.e. indicator of KHz, MHz and BT are ‘OFF”).

Setting the Clock Manually

Checking the Current Year-Date-Day of Week-Time Settings

Press briefly the CLOCK SET button once to see the year, date i sequence.
To restore time display mode, leave it idle for a few seconds.

Setting the Year

  1. Press and hold the CLOCK SET button during Standby mode until the Year Flashes’ the release the button;

  2. Press the button to adjust Year; Setting the Date

  3. Press the CLOCK SET button again and release, the Month Flashes’

  4. Press the button to adjust the Month.

  5. Press the CLOCK SET button again and release, the Date ‘Flashes” L’I I

  6. Press the button to adjust the Date;
    For example, April 16th will appear as ‘4.16″; setting the Time

  7. Press the CLOCK SET button again and release, the Hour ‘Flashes’;

  8. Press the M orM button to adjust the Hour (where AM indicator ‘On’ is AM, ‘Oft’is PM);

  9. Press the CLOCK SET button again and release, the Minute ‘Flashes’; 17

  10. Press the Mor Mb utton to adjust the Minutes; c-0

  11. Press the CLOCK SET button again to store all new settings and restore it to ime display mode.

Daylight Saving and Leap Year Adjustmen

All Daylight Saving Time (DST) and Leap Year adjustment are made automatically by the Smart Set. internal computer as follows
Start of Daylight Saving time.
At 2:00 AM on the 2nd Sunday in March, the clock will automatically advance103:00AM
End of Daylight Saving time:
At3:00 AM on the 15t Sunday in November the clock will automatically reset to 2:00 AM

Setting the Alarm

IMPORTANT : Alarm settings can only be adjusted in Standby mode.
Your clock radio has two separate alarms Alarm1 (AL1) and Alarm2 (AL2) that can be set and used independently. You may use the alarms to wake two persons at different times, or you may use one alarm for weekdays and the other one for weekends. Please ensure that you have set the wake up time and alarm week mode correctly.
Adjusting the Wake Up Time and Alarm Volume
The procedure for adjusting the wake up time is the same for both Alarm1 and Alarm2.

  • Press and hold either the AL1 or AL2 button until the display changes from the current time to the Alarm1 or Alarm2 wake up time and the Hour blinks.
  • Release the AL1 (AL2)button, then press the button to adjust Hour, press the AL1 (AL2)button again to confirm the hour & the Minute blinks; press the button to adjust Minute.
  • Press the AL1 (AL2)button again to adjust Alarm Volume V01-V16 by pressing the button.
  • Press the AL1 (AL2)button again to adjust Alarm Week Mode if necessary by pressing the button.
  • Press the AL1 (AL2) button to save the new alarm setting and resume to clock mode.

Note : Be sure that you have set the wake up time correctly by observing the AM indicator. If the AM indicator is ‘On’ the wake up time is “AM”. If itis ‘Off’, the wake up time is “PM”.

Selecting the Alarm Week Mode
Your SmartSet” clock radio allows you to select from three different alarm week modes for each alarm. The Alarm Week Modes are:

  • Everyday – the alarm will turn on all 7 days
  • Weekdays only – the alarm will only turn on Monday Talal through Friday
  • Weekends only – the alarm will only turn on Saturday — and Sunday -7indicators are On, the Everyday modes selected.
  • If only the MON (Monday) through FRI (Friday) indicators are On’ the Weekdays only mode is selected.
  • If only the SAT (Saturday) and SUN (Sunday) ndicators are ‘On’, the Weekends only mode is selected.

Checking the Wake Up Times and Alarm Week Mode
To check the wake up time or the alarm week mode settings, press either the AL1 or AL2 button. The display will change from current time to wake up time and the DAY OF WEEK indicators will show you the alarm week mode which is currently selected. It will return to the current time display in 3 seconds after showing the wake up time.

Activating and Deactivating the Alarm

  • Press and release the AL1 or AL2 button continuously to turn On your desired Alarm Mode: Wake to Radio, Wake to Buzzer, or Off.
  • When the 1 /2 ‘ indicator glows, the wake up to Radio alarm wil be On.
  • When the ‘1 / 2 Indicator glows, the wake up to Buzzer alarm will be On.
  • To completely turn Off the alarm, press and release AL1 or AL2 button continuously until the Radio “1 /2 ” indicator or the Buzzer ‘1 / 2 indicator is Off.

Snooze Alarm
When the alarm comes On, press the SNOOZE button  to pause it for 9 minutes.
Alarm indicator will flash during Snooze Alarm mode. To turn off Snooze Alarm, press the ONJOFF button once. Note : If not turned off, the Snooze Alarm will only be active for one hour.

Listening to the Radio

  1. Press the ON/OFF button to turn the radio ‘On’. The frequency of the tuningfrequency will show for a few seconds on the display.
  2. Press the M (Mode) button repeatedy to select AM or FM as desired, the KHz or MHz indicator turns ‘O’ and the radio station frequency displays.
  3. Set the VOLUME by pressing the VOL# or VOL- button to a level that suits your needs.
  4. Select your desired station with the TUNE+ or TUNE- button.
  5. When you finish listening to radio, press the ONIOFF button to turn the radio ‘Off”

Receive your desired station with the TUNING control:

  • Press the TUNE/TUNE- button briefly, the receiving frequency will increase / decrease by one step.
  • Press and hold the TUNE+/TUNE- button for 3 seconds receiving frequency will increase / decrease automatically until station with acceptable reception is found.

Storing and Recalling Radio Station Memory Manually
When you have a few favorite radio stations to listen to, you may like to save them in specific memory locations and pick one of them in a few seconds without the need of searching it each time. Our digital tuning technology allows youto do this easily by following the steps listed below:

Storing Station to the Memory

  • Turn the unit On and select Radio mode (KHz or MHz indicator On’) + Tune i the desired station by the TUNING control as described.
  • Press and hold the MEM.JSTO. button (for 2 seconds)until ‘PXX blinks, indicating the memory location to store the station currently tuned in.
  • While ‘PXX’Is biinking, press the M or I4 button can change the memory location from 1 through 20. For example, P 03’ means the current listening station is about o be stored into the 3rd location of the memory.
  • After deciding the memory location, press the MEM./STO. button again, the currently listening station is then stored accordingly.
  • The display will show the frequency of the station, and after a few seconds, it will restore the current time.

Recalling Station from the Memory

  • Turn the unit On and select Radio mode.
  • Press the MEM./ STO. button, PXX’ shows on the display, and the station according to the memory location will then be tuned in
  • Repeatedly pressing the MEM./STO. button or the / button will change change the memory location from 1 through 20, and the station stored in the location will then be tuned in once the memory location is selected and all buttons released + The display will show the frequency of the station, and then returns to the current time after a few seconds.

Listening to Bluetooth Speaker

  • Press the ONIOFF button to turn the unit ON.
  • Press the M(Mode) button to select Bluetooth(bt) mode (BT indicator ‘Flashes’ for pairing).
  • Enable your Bluetooth device and select CKS8888 from its Available/Paired device list. If pairing successful, the unit will prompt and BT indicator will become solid.
  • Automatic connection with your Bluetooth devices is possible f they have been paired successfully with this unit before.
  • After paired, you can play your music through this Bluetooth Speaker.

Note:

  • If pairing unsuccessful, all previously paired Bluetooth devices around should be disconnected first by pressing and holding the MI button until it prompts, or tum Off their Bluetooth Gonnegtion, i order to avoid making any auto reconnection between them. Then, set this unto Bluetooth mode, and tap the Bluetooth Swilch on your phone/device Off and back On again to refresh search any nearby CKS8888 for pairing.
  • When it connects to an iOS device via Bluetooth, the clock time will be automatically synchronized with the time of the connected device.

Sleeping to Music Timer

Press the ON/OFF button to turn ON the unit, and press the M(Mode) bution to select either Bluetooth or Radio mode to play music or listen to radio

  • Press the SLEEP button. The display will show the sleep timer.

  • Press the SLEEP button repeatedly to choose your desired sleep timer (10-90 minutes or OFF). When sleep timer is counting down, the SLP. indicator turns On.
    Note: When you change the sleep timer from the 10-minute default timing to a different setting, this new setting becomes the default timing

  • To display the sleep timer during count down process, press the SLEEP button

  • To cancel the sleep timer during count down process, press the ON/OFF button to shut Off the unit.

Multi-Color 2-Level LED Décor

Press the LED button to turn night LED on when needed.

  • Press the LED button repeatedly to change the color of LED lights in the following cyclical manner.
    Red → Orange →Yellow → Green → Cyan → Blue → Purple → Color Auto Change→ Mixed Color

  • Pross the SNOOZE/DIMMER/SLEEP button within 3 seconds after LED button being pressed to adjust the brightness level (Dim or Bright) of the LED lights

  • Press and hold the LED button to turn the LED lights off

Notes :

  1. The LED lights with last memory function, it will automatically follow the last played status when next time playback for both Radio and Bluetooth mode
  2. The LED lights will be rhythmic to the beats when the unitis playing music via Bluetooth

USB for Charging

This clock radio has two USB(Type A/ Type C) port at the back, which can provide up to 5V 2.1Ato charge devices like smartphone, tablet etc. via a USB cable (not provided)
Note : Electrical energy drawn from the USB port may vary due to different charging cable condition, battery characteristic or power management system of your device being charged.

Changing the Lithium Battery

The lithium backup battery needs replacement when the LOW BATTERY indicator flashes, otherwise, the time and alarm settings will be lost/reset after a power outage.

  • Leave the AC adapter connected to your AC outlet to retain memory while the original battery is removed
  • Unscrew the battery cover from the cabinet with a small screwdriver and insert a new batery with the same CR2032 or equivalent type into the slot the same way, observing the positive (+) polarity before puttingthe cover back into the slot. The LOW BATTERY indicator should then be Off.

BE CAREFUL NOT TO LOSE THIS SMALL SCREW!

Care and Maintenance

Care Of Cabinets
If the cabinet becomes dusty, wipe it with a soft cloth. If the cabinet becomes smudged or dirty, clean it with a soft, slightly dampened cloth . Never allow water orans liquid to get inside the cabinet. Never use any abrasive cleaners o cleaning pads as these will damage the finish of your radio.
Lithium Battery Precautions

  • Dispose of the old battery properly. Do not leave it lying around where a young child or pet could play with or swallow it If the battery is swallowed, contact a physician immediately.
  • The battery may explode if mistreated. Do not attempt to recharge it or disassemble it. Do not dispose of the old battery in a fire.

LIMITED WARRANTY

Emerson Radio Corp. warrants this product o be free from manufacturing defects in original materia, including original parts, and workmanship under normal home use and conditions (‘manufacturing defect’) for a period of ninety (90) days from date of original purchase in, and if used in the United States. Should service be necessary under this warranty, Emerson will provide the following at our Return Repair Facilely provided the manufacturing defect is verified along with the date of purchase:

  • Repalr service for ninety (90) days from date of original purchase at no charge for labor and parts.
    To Receive Authorization to Return a Defective Item, please contact Emerson Customer Service at 1-800-898-9020 or at https://www.emersonradio.com/servicelreturn-policy. Have your Model number, Serial Number and dated Proof of Purchase with you when you call In the event the product must be returned to Emerson:

  • Pack the uniting a well-padded heavy corrugated box. Please insure the item is well padded to avoid damage while in transit back to our facility. If the item Incurs damage, It will NOT be replaced and the consumer will be responsible for return freight costs to receive their same unit back.

  • Enclose your check or money order payable to Emerson Radio in the amount of$10t0 cover return shipping and handling costs Enclose a note with your name, address, phone number, Return Authorization number and brief reason for returning the unit.

  • Enclose a copy of your proof of purchase (warranty service will ot be provided without dated proof of purchase).

  • Ship the unit prepaid via UPS or parcel post (SHIP INSURED and obtain a tracking number).
    NOTE This warranty does not cover.
    (a) Damage to equipment not properly connected to the product
    (b) Cost incurred in the shipping of the product to and from Emerson’s Return Faculty.
    (c) Damage or improper operation of unit caused by customer abuse, misuse, negligence or failure to follow operating instructions (including cleaning instructions) provided with the product.
    (d)Ordinary adjustments to the product which can be performed by customer as outlined in the owner’s manual
    e) Signal reception problems caused by external antenna or cable systems
    (f) Products not purchased in the United States.
    (g) Damage to product if used outside the United States, THIS WARRANTY IS NON- TRANSFERABLE AND APPLIES ONLY TO THE ORIGINAL  PURCHASER AND DOES NOT EXTEND TO SUBSEQUENT OWNERS OF THE

ANY APPLICABLE IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING THE WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY, ARE LIMITED IN DURATION TO A PERIOD OF THE EXPRESSED WARRANTY AS PROVIDED HEREIN BEGINNING WITH THE DATE OF ORIGINAL PURCHASE AT RETAILAND NO WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, SHALL APPLY TO THE PRODUCT THEREAFTER, EMERSON MAKES NO WARRANTY AS TO THE FITNESS OF THE PRODUCT FOR ANY PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR USE THE EXTENT OF EMERSON RADIO CORP’S LIABILITY UNDER THIS LIMITED WARRANTY IS THE REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT PROVIDED ABOVE AND, IN NO EVENT, SHALL EMERSON RADIO CORP’S LIABILITY EXCEED THE PURCHASE PRICE PAID BY THE PURCHASER OF THE PRODUCT.
