WELCOME

Low-carbon heat pumps are critical technologies for decarbonising heat.
To meet the UK’s legally-binding climate targets, thousands more heating engineers will need to learn to install and maintain these technologies.
The Heat Training Grant supports trainees in England taking short training courses relevant to heat pumps and heat networks. Trainees can receive grants of up to £500 towards eligible courses.

INTRODUCTION

We are delighted to be able to offer our Air Source Heat Pump Installer Training pack to our customers.
The training pack runs over the duration of 5 days and includes qualifications are recognised by MCS within their competence standards.

  • BPEC water regulations qualification (that is a pre-requisite of ASHP qualification).
  • BPEC ASHP systems qualification.
  • We also include additional training on completing effective heat loss calculations and system pipe sizing that  are so fundamental to good heat pump performance.

COURSE OVERVIEW

Our course is designed for experienced heating engineers who wish to work with heat pumps.
Attendees must provide evidence of a relevant qualifications/experience:

  • An S/NVQ Level 2/3 in plumbing, heating engineering that includes system design within its scope. Or a demonstratable number of years’ experience (minimum 2 years) in working role. This must be provided by means of a C.V.

On the Monday of the course, you will undergo training and assessment on water regulations. This will ensure you have up to date knowledge and can reference requirements within the regulations as part of your work.
From Tuesday through to Friday you will work through a number of training modules that include a blend of theory, exercises, practical tasks and demonstrations.

Module 1: An introduction to heat pumps
Module 2: Heat pump performance, efficiencies
Module 3: Heat pump positioning and planning permission
Module 4: An Introduction to MCS
Module 5: Heat loss and heating system design considerations for heat pumps
Module 6: Electrical supplies and heat pump control principles
Module 7: Commissioning, customer handover and maintenance requirements
Module 8: Troubleshooting and common queries

LOCATIONS
Training courses are currently available in limited spaces from our locations in Hull, Leeds, Sittingbourne and Okehampton.
COST
Total cost for the course is priced very competitively at £599 + VAT.
This includes all qualification registration and certification fees and learning materials.
Eligible installers can benefit from a £500 Heat Training Scheme voucher leaving just £99 + VAT to pay at the time of booking.

VOUCHER ELIGIBILITY

The £500 voucher is funded by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, Heat Training Grant Scheme. The voucher is available to:

  • This scheme runs in England only. Trainees must have a home address registered in England.
  • Sole traders and those that work for a business of 250 employees or fewer, or unemployed.
  • Confirm the trainee themselves, or the business they work for are certified by an appropriate competent person’s scheme (CPS) for heating and hot water systems.
    Such as Gas Safe, APHC, NAPIT etc.

CHANGES AND CANCELLATIONS

Due to the limited number of training spaces available and exceptionally high demand, we are unable to replan any bookings once confirmed. The £99 booking fee is non-refundable.

Please note it is your responsibility to answer these accurately and evidence of qualifications and registered home address will be required to be produced at the training centre.
