Setting Up Oakcastle 250
Connecting and Powering On the Unit:
AC Power (Mains Power):
- Using the power cord provided, plug one end into the back of the unit and the other end into a mains socket.
- Change the CD250 mode to CD/BT or FM using the ‘Switch’ button on the back to power on the unit.
- To switch off the unit, set the ‘Switch’ button to the ‘OFF’ position.
Batteries Precautions:
- If the radio is not used for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent damage due to possible leakage.
- Do not attempt to recharge batteries as they can overheat and rupture. Follow all battery manufacturer instructions.
Basic Operation
Power On and Modes Change:
- Use the ‘Switch’ button at the back of the unit to switch on in FM or CD/BT mode.
- To change to Bluetooth mode, press the ‘Stop/Bluetooth’ button for 2 seconds while in CD/BT mode.
- The display screen will show ‘BT’ when in Bluetooth mode.
Tuning Control:
– In FM mode, use the tuning rotary button to fine-tune a radio station while playing.
CD Mode
Playing CDs:
- Change the mode to CD mode using the ‘Switch’ button at the back of the unit.
- Lift up the CD compartment lid gently to insert a disc with the label oriented outward.
- The Oakcastle CD250 will read the inserted CD and start playing the first audio track automatically.
Controls and Functions in CD Mode:
- Press ‘Play/Pause’ to pause or resume playback.
- Press ‘Stop/Bluetooth’ once to stop playing, displaying ‘CD Mode’ and total tracks. Lift the CD compartment lid to remove or replace the CD.
- Alternatively, press ‘Play/Pause’ to start playing.

Setting Up Oatcastle 250
Connecting and powering on the unit
AC Power (Mains Power)
Using the power cord provided, plug one end into the back of the unit (Ref.5) and plug the other end into a mains socket. Using the ‘Switch’ button (Ref.3) on the back of the unit, change the CD250 Mode to CD/BT or FM to power on the unit. To switch the unit off, set the ‘Switch’ button (Ref.3) into the mid- position indicated as ‘OFF’.
DC Power (Battery Power)
Using batteries, the Oakcastle CD250 can be used as a portable device. Before inserting the batteries (not included), please ensure that the unit is switched off and unplugged from the mains power supply. Open the battery compartment (Ref.2) and check the polarities of ‘+’ and ‘-‘, making sure you will correctly position the batteries as indicated. Insert 6 X 1.5V batteries size C (not included). Close the battery compartment and turn on the unit using the ‘Switch’ button (Ref.3).
Batteries precautions!
If the radio is not used for an extended time period, remove the batteries to prevent damage due to possible battery leakage. Do not try to recharge batteries as they can overheat and rupture. Follow all battery manufacturer instructions.
Basic Operation
Power ON and MODES change
The Oakcastle CD250 operates using the power cable or batteries. Use the ‘Switch’ button at the back of the unit (Ref.3) to switch on the unit either in FM or in CD/BT mode. To change to Bluetooth mode, while in CD/BT mode, press ‘Stop/ Bluetooth’ button (Ref.10) for 2 seconds. The display screen will show ’BT’ indicating that the unit is in Bluetooth mode.
Playback control
Use Play/ Pause, Stop, Next/ Forward, Back/Previous, to control the playback of tracks in CD/BT Mode.
Note: While in Bluetooth mode, the ‘Stop/Bluetooth’ button can only be used to change the mode in between Bluetooth mode and CD mode.
Volume Control
Use the volume rotary button (Ref.7) to adjust the volume level in any mode.
Note: While playing audio via CD250 from a phone or tablet, ensure the volume level on your device is also adjusted as this will influence the playback volume.
Tuning Control
While in FM Mode, use the tuning rotary button to fine tune a radio station while playing.
CD Mode
Playing CDs
Using the ‘Switch’ button at the back of the unit (Ref.3), change the mode into CD Mode. The display screen will show ‘CD’ indicating that the unit is set now in CD Mode. Lift up the CD compartment lid gently (Ref.2) to insert a disc. Position the CD with the label oriented to the outer side, then insert the disc into the CD compartment (Ref.1) and close the lid. The Oakcastle CD250 will read the inserted CD within seconds and automatically start playing the first audio track.
Note: Supported disc formats are CD/CD, MP3/CD-R/CD-RW.
Controls and functions in CD Mode
- Press the ‘Play/Pause’ (Ref.13) button to pause. Press once again to continue playing.
- Press the ‘Stop/Bluetooth’ (Ref.10) button once to stop playing the CD. The display will indicate ‘CD’ Mode and the total number of tracks. Lift the CD compartment lid to remove the CD or replace. Alternatively, press ‘Play/Pause’ (Ref.13) to start playing.
- Press the ‘Next/Forward’ (Ref.15) button to skip and start playing the next track.\ Press the ‘Back/Previous’ (Ref.14) button to skip and play the previous track.
- The ‘Repeat’ button (Ref.9) can only be used in CD mode while playing a CD to repeat a single song, the entire CD, or set repeat OFF.
- Repeat one song: Press the ‘Repeat’ button once to repeat the song currently playing. The CD250 display will show flash ‘Repeat’ indicating that the feature is activated.
- Repeat the entire CD: Press once again the ‘Repeat’ button to repeat the entire CD currently playing. The CD250 will show ’Repeat’ on the display screen, indicating that the CD is now set to repeat the entire CD.
- Cancel Repeat: Press to cancel repeat function already set. The ‘Repeat’ message will no longer appear on the screen. Alternatively, press and release the ‘Repeat’ button to cycle through the available options of Repeat, Repeat All or Repeat Off.
- While in CD Mode, press and hold down the ‘Stop/Bluetooth’ button for 2 seconds to change the mode in Bluetooth.
Bluetooth Mode
The Oakcastle CD250 can be paired via Bluetooth with a device such as a phone, a tablet or a similar device to play audio from via the speakers. While in ‘CD’ Mode, press and hold down the ‘Stop/Bluetooth’ (Ref.9) button for 2 seconds to change into Bluetooth Mode. The display will flash ‘BT’ indicating that the Oakcastle CD250 is now in Bluetooth mode. The LED light indicator will flash a red light to indicate that the unit is searching for a device. Ensure the device you are about to connect the CD250 with has its Bluetooth connectivity switched on. If this is the first time your device is being paired with the Oakcastle CD250, search for available devices on your list and select the ‘Oakcastle CD250’ to pair with. Once successfully connected, the CD250 will sound a short beep. You can now start playing audio from your device via the Oakcastle CD250 speakers.
Controls and functions in Bluetooth Mode
- While in Bluetooth Mode, some of the CD250 buttons can be used such as:
- The ‘Next/Forward’ (Ref.15) button – Press to skip and play the next track.
- The ‘Back’/Previous’ (Ref.14) button – Press to skip and play the previous track.
- The ‘Play/Pause’ (Ref.13) button – Press this button to pause or play audio.
- The ‘Volume‘ (Ref.7) button – Adjust the volume level.
Note: The volume level is also influenced by the one set on your device. Ensure this is set as per your preferences. Press and hold down the ‘Stop/Bluetooth’ (Ref.9) button for 2-3 seconds, to switch back to CD Mode. Note: The Oakcastle CD250 Bluetooth mode is not compatible with earbuds.
FM Radio Mode
Choose somewhere to keep the Oakcastle CD250 where you have the best possible FM radio signal. Ensure the radio antenna is fully extended before using the unit in FM Mode. Slide the ‘Switch ‘button (Ref.3) to the left hand-side at the back of the unit to change to ‘FM’ Mode. Controls and functions in FM Mode
Auto-search and store
- Press and hold down for 2-3 seconds the ‘Play/Pause’ button (Ref.13) to initiate an automatic scan.
- The Oakcastle CD250 will then search for all available FM radio stations available at your location and automatically store 30 radio stations on its memory from P01 to P30.
- Once the full scan has been completed and radio stations stored, the Oakcastle CD250 will start playing with the first one found and saved on P01 memory slot.
- Use the ‘Next/ Forward’ (Ref.15) or ‘Back/Previous’ (Ref.14) buttons to navigate through the stored radio stations found.
Manual search and store
- For manual scan use the ‘Tuning’ rotary button (Ref.17) to fine tune a radio station. Rotate to the right to tune up the frequency band or rotate to the left to tune down the frequency band.
- To manually save the radio station found with good signal, while the radio station is playing, press the ‘Program’ button once (Ref.8). On the radio display you will then flash ‘P0x’ (‘x’ being a number in between 1-30). Using the ‘Next/Forward’
(Ref.15) or ‘Back’ /Previous’ buttons (Ref.14), search for the position number between P01 and P30 where you would like to have this saved. Once found, to store your desired radio station, press once again the ‘Program’ button (Ref.8) to save on the chosen memory slot. The ‘P0x’ will no longer flash, indicating that the radio station has been saved. To recall and play a saved radio station, use the ‘Next/Forward’ button (Ref.15) or ‘Back/Previous’ button (Ref.14) to navigate through the stored radio stations. The display screen will show the stored station’s corresponding number such as e.g., ‘P01’. After one second, the saved radio station on this memory slot will start to play. Note: When manually saving a radio station to a memory slot, any existing saved station will be overwritten.
Headphones
The Oakcastle CD250 works with wired headphones. Connect wired headphones (not included) to the headphone jack port (3.5 mm) of the Oakcastle CD250 (Ref.6) to listen to audio through headphones. Ensure the volume is turned down before you use the headphones to avoid hearing damage. You will now hear audio output through the headphones.
Troubleshooting
Observation | Potential Cause/Solution |

No power/function
| Check that the power is switched on at the wall.
Check if the power cable is properly connected to the unit.
If you have no power when using batteries, remove all from the battery compartment, and plug the unit into the mains.
No sound
| Check if the unit MODE is correctly selected.
If you have no sound on Bluetooth Mode while pairing the Oakcastle CD250 with your device, check and increase the volume level on both.
Bluetooth not connecting
| Ensure that the Oakcastle CD250 is set in Bluetooth mode and make sure you also switch on Bluetooth on your device. Check if the Oakcastle CD250 is paired with other devices. Remove from other devices and try pairing again.
CD player not working
| Ensure you are playing a CD in supported formats.
Remove the CD and clean gently with a dry cloth and try again.
Replace the CD with a different one.
