SmartDHOME TTDZ3 Digital Thermostatic Head Instruction Manual

Thank you for choosing the TTDZ3 digital thermostatic head, ideal for controlling the temperature of radiators.
Z-Wave certified; it is compatible with any HUB that communicates through this protocol such as MyVirtuoso Home.

General Safety Regulations

Before using this device, some precautions should be taken to reduce any risk of fire and/or personal injury:

  1. Read all instructions carefully and follow all precautions in this manual. All direct connections to the electrical network conductors must be carried out by trained and authorized technical personnel.
  2. Pay attention to all possible danger indications shown on the device and/or contained in this manual, highlighted with the symbol .
  3. Disconnect the device from the power supply or battery charger before cleaning it. For cleaning, do not use detergents but only a damp cloth.
  4. Do not use the device in gas saturated environments.
  5. Do not place the device near heat sources.
  6. Use only the original accessories supplied by SmartDHOME.
  7. Do not place the connection and/or power cables under heavy objects, avoid paths near sharp or abrasive objects, prevent them from being stepped on.
  8. Keep out of reach of children.
  9. Do not carry out any maintenance work on the device but always contact the assistance network.
  10. Contact the assistance network if one or more of the following conditions occur on the product and/or an accessory (supplied or optional):
    a. If the product has come into contact with water or liquid substances.
    b. If the product has suffered obvious damage to the container.
    c. If the product does not provide performance compliant with its characteristics.
    d. If the product has suffered a noticeable degradation in performance.
    e. If the power cord has been damaged.

NOTE: Under one or more of these conditions, do not attempt to make repairs or adjustments not described in this manual. Improper interventions could damage the product, require additional work to regain the desired functioning and exclude the product from the warranty.

ATTENTION! Any type of intervention by our technicians, which will be caused by an incorrectly carried out installation or by a fault caused by improper use, will be borne by the customer.

Inclusion

Before starting the procedure for including the device in a Z-Wave network, check that it is turned on, then make sure that the MyVirtuoso Home HUB is in inclusion mode (refer to the relevant manual available on the website : https://www.myvirtuosohome.com/assistenza/downloads.html).

  1. Insert the batteries and turn on the device.

  2. Activate the inclusion mode of the MyVirtuoso Home HUB and ensure that the thermostatic head is close to the HUB (it must not be mounted on the radiator).
    ATTENTION! During the device inclusion procedure, make sure that the latter is within 1m of the MyVirtuoso Home HUB. Otherwise, the operation may not be successful.
    To exclude any problems related to the configuration of the device, we recommend carrying out all the operations at your premises (on the bench) and then proceeding with the installation.

  3. When the head enters the state , press the setting knob 3 times. will appear on the screen “ ”.

  4. After a few seconds, the display will show “ ”. This means that the inclusion was successful. The signal icon it turns on.

NOTE: To set the status of the head it is necessary to rotate the setting knob to the left until the temperature drops below 5°C.
ATTENTION! If the inclusion procedure does not give a positive result, it is necessary to repeat the procedure from point 2.

ATTENTION! Before installing the thermostatic head on the radiator valve, it is necessary to include it within the MyVirtuoso Home network.

CHOOSING THE ADAPTER
Before choosing the correct adapter for the valve on the radiator it is necessary to know its brand and pitch:

  • If the pitch is M30x1.5 mm no adapter is needed, the head can be installed directly.
  • If the valve is a Danfoss, use the adapter supplied with the head.
  • If the valve is a Caleffi one, use the adapter supplied with the head.
  • If the valve is a Giacomini, use the adapter supplied with the head.

TTENTION! If you have Pintossi, Herz or F.A.R. valves the purchase of the appropriate adapter is necessary.

IGNITION AND INSTALLATION ON THE RADIATOR

  • First installation
    When installing the thermostatic head for the first time, it is essential to include the device within the Z-Wave MyVirtuoso Home network. Before following the steps below, make sure that the inclusion procedure was successful.
1. After finishing the embedding procedure, click the setting knob on the head 5 times. It will enter the calibration mode and begin the procedure of fully opening the valve inside. The writing “LA” will flash on the display.
2. When the writing “LA” stops flashing, it will be possible to install the head on the radiator, taking care to choose the correct adapter.
3. Once mounted, press the setting knob once (if the click does not occur within 2 minutes, the procedure will start automatically) and wait for the calibration to be completed.
4. The head is now ready to handle the radiator.

    NOTE: After turning on the device it is necessary to carry out the inclusion procedure without installing the head on the radiator.

  3. Wait for the end of the calibration

  4. Install the TTDZ3 by screwing the threaded ring

  5. Press the button on the setting knob. “LA” will start flashing. Once installation is complete, the initial interface will be shown.

  • Replacing the batteries
    This procedure must be carried out every time that, after the battery runs out, it becomes necessary to replace the batteries.
1. Remove the flat batteries from the thermostatic head without dismantling it from the radiator.
2. Insert new batteries into the battery slot and turn on the device. The writing “LA” will flash on the display.
3. When the writing “LA” stops flashing, press the setting knob once (if the click does not occur within 2 minutes, the procedure will start automatically) and wait for the calibration to be completed.
4. The head is ready to handle the radiator again.

Exclusion

Before starting the device exclusion procedure in a Z-Wave network, check that it is turned on, then make sure that the MyVirtuoso Home HUB is in exclusion mode (refer to the relevant manual available on the website :
https://www.myvirtuosohome.com/assistenza/downloads.html).

  1. Turn on the device.

  2. Activate the exclusion mode of the MyVirtuoso Home HUB and ensure that the thermostatic head is close to the HUB (it must not be mounted on the radiator).
    ATTENTION! During the device exclusion procedure, make sure that the latter is within 1m of the MyVirtuoso Home HUB. Otherwise, the operation may not be successful.

  3. When the head enters the state , press the setting knob 3 times. will appear on the screen “ ”

  4. After a few seconds, the display will show “ ”. This means that the exclusion was successful. The signal icon turns off.

NOTE: To set the status  of the head it is necessary to rotate the rotary valve to the left, until the temperature drops below 5°C.
ATTENTION! If the exclusion procedure does not give a positive result, it is necessary to repeat the procedure from point 2.

Reset

In the state  keep the setting knob pressed for at least 5 seconds and release when the writing appears will start flashing. The reset was successful when the writing will stop flashing and the display will turn off.
NOTE: To set the status of the head it is necessary to rotate the setting knob to the left, until the temperature drops below 5°C.

Methods of use

The TTDZ3 digital thermostatic head can be used in different modes, which can be set from the head itself and/or via the MyVirtuoso Home application.

Child lock mode
The child lock mode (indicated with LC on the head display) can be activated and deactivated via the MyVirtuoso Home application by clicking on the icon and modifying the “Child lock” item and/or manually by holding down the setting knob for 5 seconds.

ATTENTION! In order to complete the operation successfully, it is recommended not to carry out the above procedure when the head is in state .

Window Opening Mode (from App)
Through the MyVirtuoso Home application it is possible to set the automatic closing of the valve when the opening of a window is detected. When the heating is on and a temperature drop of 6°C in 4 minutes is detected (only possible by opening a window), the head will close the radiator valve and show on the screen OP  .

The head will return to work as set when it detects a 2°C increase in temperature.

Alarm

If the NTC sensor inside the head is damaged, the screen will show

Low battery

When the battery voltage is extremely low (low battery), the display will show the icon to indicate that replacement is necessary. The battery charge level is also visible from the MyVirtuoso Home application.

Disposal

Do not dispose of electrical appliances in unsorted municipal waste, use separate waste collection services.
Contact your municipality for information regarding available collection systems.
If electrical appliances are disposed of in landfill or inappropriate locations, hazardous substances can leak into groundwater and enter the food chain, harming the health and well-being of us all.

When replacing old appliances, the retailer is legally obliged to take back the old appliance for free disposal.
