INSTRUCTION MANUAL
THANK YOU FOR PURCHASING A DARCHE ROOF TOP TENT (RTT).
We strive to provide the ultimate outdoor camping experience. Your Roof Top
Tent mounts directly to your vehicles roof rack or roof bars. The tent opens
and is fully set up in under a minute. Your Roof Top Tent is made with durable
materials that provide excellent water and wind protection.
Before setting off on your adventure, your new Roof Top Tent will require some
basic assembly. After unboxing, read through this instruction manual, install
the roof rails if applicable (sold separately), then mount your tent onto the
roof rack or aftermarket roof bars utilising the pre-installed rails on the
underside of the tent and hardware kit provided.
During set up and first use, you may find some aluminium swarf inside your
Roof Top Tent. We make every possible attempt to expel and vacuum all
aluminium swarf, however, with vibrations in transit, some
may reappear.

the RTT to suit your setup.

STEP 1.
To attach the ladder mounts, insert two M8 square nuts into each of the T-channels in the base of the tent. Depending on the location, you may need to adjust or temporarily remove the pre-attached latches or badges. -
STEP 2.
Insert M8 x 13mm button head hex socket bolts through the ladder mounting bracket, align them with the square nuts in the T-channels then tighten. -
STEP 3.
Repeat with the second ladder mounting bracket. Ensure that the spacing between the brackets corresponds with the spacing between the ladder hooks.

The handles can be attached to either the long side or the short side of the
RTT to suit your setup.
-
STEP 1.
To attach the handles, insert four M8 square nuts in the T-channel in the lid of the tent. Depending on the location, you may need to adjust or temporarily remove the pre-attached latches. -

ATTACHING LED STRIPS AND STORAGE GRID
-
STEP 1.
Place the LED strips along the inside edges of the RTT lid then secure them by screwing the LED strip brackets into the pre-drilled holes in the tent with phillips head screws. Note that the two long strips go on the top and bottom edges and the two short strips go on the left & right edges. -
STEP 2.
Connect the LED strips together with the supplied cables. The 5m USB cable can be connected at either of the bottom corners to suit your setup. -
STEP 3.
Screw the storage grid mounts into the pre-drilled holes on the inside of the RTT lid with phillips head screws. -
STEP 4.
Attach the storage grid with the carabiners.
MOUNTING THE ROOF TOP TENT TO YOUR VEHICLE.
When mounting your RTT to a vehicle, ensure that the pre-installed vehicle
mounting channels run perpendicular to the direction to the bars of your
vehicle’s roof rack or roof bars, and that the tent is centered on the roof
bars or roof rack if possible.
-
STEP 1.
Slide four vehicle mounting bolts and slide plates into each vehicle mounting channel, and measuring off your vehicles roof bars or roof rack, space the bolts so that there is a bolt on each side of the rail to be clamped. Ensure to fit all 8 bolts, clamping your RTT to the vehicles roof rack in 4 separate locations. If possible, we recommend using all 12 bolts and clamp your RTT to 6 separate locations -
STEP 2.
Place the closed RTT on top of your vehicle’s roof rack system. Please ensure you do not exceed safe manual handling limits. Some assistance may be required. -
STEP 3.
In each clamping location, pass the two vehicle mounting bolts through the steel backing plate and fasten with 1 washer and 1 Nyloc nut per bolt. Repeat for the remaining steel backing plates. -
STEP 4.
After ensuring the RTT is positioned correctly, tighten all bolts securely. It is important that you check all the mounting bolts and brackets periodically to ensure they are securely fastened to your base board and the vehicles roof rack or roof bars.
OPENING YOUR TENT FOR THE FIRST TIME.
-
STEP 1.
Extend the telescopic ladder, and using the hooks on the top rung of the ladder, attach the ladder to the RTT via the ladder mounting brackets. -
STEP 2.
For your safety, ensure that the ladder is approximately 75 degrees to the ground before climbing ladder. Shorten ladder by pressing triggers on each side of the ladder as needed to achieve desired angle. -
STEP 3.
Release the two latches at the opening end of the tent. Using the handle, pull upwards. The gas struts will then assist to raise the top section fully. -
STEP 4.
Move the elastic cord down and secure it at the base of the tent. -
STEP 5.
Unfold the inner hoop. Fully extend the internal hoop and extender pole then lock all four trigger locks. -
STEP 6.
Insert the end of the spring pole into the spring pole mount. Applying gentle force to the spring poles, insert the hook end of the spring pole into the corresponding eyelet on the storm fly. Repeat for all spring poles. Use the 65cm spring poles on the short sides of the tent and the 110cm spring poles on the long side.
Tip: Some may find it easier to insert the hook end into the storm fly first.
CLOSING YOUR TENT.
-
STEP 1.
Remove and store all spring poles. Unlock all trigger locks then collapse and fold the internal hoop. -
STEP 2.
Place elastic cords back in position. Begin closing tent by slowly pulling down the webbing strap at the front and allow time for the air inside the tent to escape. Before closing fully, tuck the webbing strap inside the tent and ensure that no material is interfering with the rubber seal. -
STEP 3.
Secure the roof top tent with the latches. -
STEP 4.
Once on the ground, remove the ladder and press the triggers on either side of your ladder rungs to allow the ladder to slide back into a closed position. Store the ladder in an appropriate location.
TO ENSURE SAFETY, CHECK ALL MOUNTING BOLTS AND RAILS EVERY TWO MONTHS OR AFTER EXPERIENCING ROUGH TERRAIN. REALIGN AND TIGHTEN IF NECESSARY.
