Product Description

  • The system A-SAFE BARRIERS complies with the product specifications and test procedures of the BS EN 13374:2013+A1:2018, Class A.
  • The use of the A-SAFE BARRIERS is permitted up to a peak velocity pressure of 0.60 kN/m². Use outside this range is in principle permissible, but requires separate structural proof.
  • A-SAFE BARRIERS is also used as temporary protection of staircases and accesses to elevator shafts.

A-SAFE BARRIER SYSTEM

  • The A-SAFE BARRIERS system is based on the BS EN 13374:2013+A1:2018, Class A and is intended as temporary edge protection to keep people from falling and to prevent accidents caused by falling objects.
  • It is not designed for bearing loads or as any other kind of support. It must not be used as an attachment point for harnesses.A-SAFE-A0007-Barriers-Post-Holder-Posts-FIG-1 \(1\)

BS EN 13374:2013+A1:2018 (CLASS A) design Criteria for A-SAFE temporary edge protection system

  1. Horizontal Load (Acting perpendicular to the edge protection system)
    • The temporary edge protection system shall be designed to withstand a static load of 0.3kN applied anywhere perpendicular to the plane of the system, except toe boards, where the maximum deflection should not exceed 55mm.A-SAFE-A0007-Barriers-Post-Holder-Posts-FIG-1 \(4\)
  2. Parallel Load to the Guardrail
    • The temporary edge protection system shall be capable of withstanding a horizontal force of 0.2kN at the most onerous point, where maximum deflection does not exceed 55mm.
  3. Accidental Loading (Vertical)
    • The barrier regardless of its support shall be capable of resisting a downwards point load (vertical) of 1.25kN and 6 kN on a length of 100mm.
    • This load shall be applied in the most unfavourable position if the temporary edge protection system is in a downward direction within a sector of 10º from the vertical.
  4. Horizontal Load requirements for toeboards
    • Force required to meet deflection requirement: 0.3 kN
    • Force required to meet strength requirement: 0.2 kN
