Please note! General warnings!

A number of precautions must be taken to use, operate and maintain this torQtool Mini. For safety reasons, observe the warnings and instructions below.

  • The torQtool Mini is intended to tension torsion springs of residential overhead doors. Never use the torQtool Mini for other purposes. The torQtool Mini only fits 1” shafts, and on 45mm and 50mm and 67mm springs.
  • The torQtool Mini is intended for qualified professionals and unsuitable for DIY or use by trainees.
  • This manual explains how to use and maintain the torQtool Mini.
  • All safety warnings and notes applicable to the installation of the complete sectional overhead door must be observed.
  • Never exceed the maximum torque of 80 Nm.
  • The warranty is void if parts are added or changed without consulting the manufacturer.
  • The springs can come under great stress when being tensioned. Make sure you are in a stable position when using the torQtool Mini. Also make sure your body is not in line with the torQtool Mini.
  • Make sure there is sufficient lighting while using the torQtool Mini.
  • Make sure the spring is always tensioned in the right direction
  • Be sure to guide the torQtool Mini when tensioning the springs. Torsion springs stretch during tensioning. You must ensure that the torQtool Mini moves along parallel to the shaft. Large stresses can occur on the spring and the torQtool Mini if you do not ensure that the torQtool Mini moves parallel to the shaft.

Maintenance

  • Make sure the gears of the torQtool Mini are lubricated. Use PTFE spray (Teflon spray) for this at least once a month, or even better, our specially developed multi-gel.
  • Make sure the torQtool Mini is clean.
  • Check the torQtool Mini for damage before using it to tension a spring. Do not use the torQtool Mini if it is damaged.

Check before use

  • Make absolutely sure you are about to tension the spring in the right direction! Tightening in the wrong direction could cause dangerous situations and possible injury.
  • Check the torQtool Mini for damage before tensioning a spring with the torQtool Mini. Do not use the torQtool Mini if it is damaged.
  • Make sure the torQtool Mini is clean before using it.
  • Always check the locking mechanism before tensioning the spring. This works well if the pin disappears completely into the plug and if knob is blocked between the two arms..
  • Make sure you use the correct size pins on the torQtool Mini before starting to tension the spring.
  • Do not exceed the prescribed torque and maximum number of revolutions per minute.
  • Use the correct 13mm hex cap on your drill to operate the torQtool Mini.
  • Check that maintenance has been carried out properly before using the torQtool Mini. Keep the gears lubricated.
  • If in doubt about any of the above points, do not use the torQtool.

During use

  • Do not use an impact drill. Only use a normal (battery) screw driver.
  • Make sure you are tensioning the spring in the right direction. If you discover that you are tensioning the spring in the wrong direction, the best way to relax the spring is to rotate the torQtool Mini in the opposite direction. In such a case, always replace the spring with a new one.
  • If you are using a scissor lift while tensioning the springs with the torQtool Mini, never lower the scissor lift before the spring plugs are properly secured to the shaft.
  • The torQtool Mini should never be used to overtighten a door. Dangerous situations can arise when too much force is applied to the spring plug.
  • Never dismantle the tool if the spring plug is not yet fixed on the shaft.
  • Do not allow yourself to be distracted while tensioning springs.
