Product Information
The Addictive Desert Designs Phantom Rear Bumper is designed for 21+/Dodge TRX vehicles. It is a durable and stylish bumper that enhances the appearance and functionality of your vehicle. The bumper comes with all the necessary hardware and accessories for installation, including nylon lock nuts, button head bolts, flat washers, a sensor bezel set, and a rubber grommet. The installation process requires a skill level of easy to intermediate and is estimated to take around 2 hours for OEM removal and bumper installation, with an additional hour required for wiring cube lights. The kit also includes a detailed installation guide with step-by-step instructions and diagrams. Make sure you have the necessary tools, such as sockets, box end wrenches, Allen wrenches, a fastener remover or flathead screwdriver, zip ties, a ratchet, and silicone, before starting the installation.
Product Usage Instructions
- Removal:
- STEP 1: Disconnect the main wire harness located on the driver side frame rail. Next, unplug the trailer plug located behind the spare tire.
- STEP 2: Using a flathead screwdriver, remove the plastic cap and remove the bolt holding the plastic to the hitch using a 15mm socket.
- STEP 3: Remove the two plastic clips that sit behind the license plate. Then, from underneath the vehicle, use a 16mm socket to remove the four bumper mounting bolts. Finally, remove the OEM bumper from the vehicle.
- STEP 4: Remove the two plastic clips as shown in the first image. Then, remove the module from the bumper by squeezing in the two metal tabs as shown in the second image.
- STEP 5: Release the parking sensor by spreading the two tabs.
- Installation:
- STEP 6: Install the parking sensor mounts with the light tabs circled on page 8 using the provided 1/4 button head bolts, washers, and nylon lock nuts. Use a 5/32 Allen wrench and a 7/16 wrench for installation. Repeat the process on the other side.
- STEP 7: Install the light mount brackets circled below using the provided 1/4 button head bolts, washers, and nylon lock nuts. Use a 5/32 Allen wrench and a 7/16 wrench for installation. Repeat the process on the other side.
- STEP 8: Install the sensors in the provided bezels with the skinny side facing up. Note that one side will be oriented the same as factory, and the driver side will be 180 degrees opposite. Also, make sure the sensor plug is positioned 90 degrees to the ground. If the sensor bezel is loose in the bumper, apply a small dab of silicone or epoxy to the backside to prevent rotation.
Preparation
We recommend reading through the installation instructions in whole before performing the work.
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal. Park the vehicle on level ground and set the emergency brake.
- When button head bolts are being used, install the supplied washer on the nut side. Then, hold the bolt stationary and only turn the nut to tighten. Do not turn the bolt to tighten hardware assembly, unless otherwise noted.
- Anti-seize is recommended for all fasteners.

Labor Rates are based on a vehicle with no pre-existing damage. Wiring labor is based on a standard wiring procedure with light switches installed in an easily accessible location. Custom light triggering or switch mounting location will result in a greater labor charge.

Removal
PHANTOM REAR BUMPER 21+/DODGE TRX
STEP 1
Disconnect the main wire harness located on the driver side frame rail. Next
unplug the trailer plug located behind the spare tire.
STEP 2
Using a (flathead screwdriver), remove the plastic cap and remove the bolt
holding the plastic to the hitch using a (15mm socket).
STEP 3
Remove the two plastic clips that sit behind the license plate. Then from
underneath the vehicle, use a (16mm Socket) to remove the four bumper mounting
bolts. Then, remove the OEM bumper from the vehicle.
STEP 4
Remove the two plastic clips as shown in the first image. Then, remove the
module from the bumper. Squeeze in the two metal tabs as shown in the second
image. Then, remove that module from the bumper.
STEP 5
Remove the parking sensors from their mounting rings by spreading the two tabs
on the back side of the mounting rings. Keep track of what
position/orientation these come off the OEM bumper so you can install them on
your new bumper in the same position/orientation. You do not need to remove
the parking sensor mounting rings You will not be reusing them. Then using a
(10mm Socket), remove the bolt (one per side) that holds the license plate
lights into place. Then, remove the license plate lights. Save these bolts
for reuse
STEP 6
Install the parking sensor mounts with the light tabs circled below as shown
on page 8 using the 1/4” button head bolts, washers, and nylon lock nuts using
a (5/32 allen) and (7/16 wrench). (Repeat on other side)
STEP 7
Install the light mount brackets circled below using the provided 1/4” button
head bolts, washers, and nylon lock nuts using (5/32 allen wrench) and a (7/16
wrench). (Repeat on other side)
STEP 8
Install the sensors in the provided bezels with the skinny side facing up. You
will notice that one side will be oriented the same as factory and the driver
side will be 180 degrees opposite.
Also note that the sensor plug needs to be 90 degrees to the ground If your sensor bezel is loose in the bumper and can easily be rotated we recommend applying a small dab of silicone or epoxy to the back side to prevent them from rotating.
STEP 9
Install the license plate lights with the provided brackets as shown below
with the OEM hardware you removed from step 5 using a (10mm socket).
STEP 10
Install the trailer plug and pry out the tabs to securely seat plug using a
(flathead screwdriver).
STEP 11
You can now install your Phantom front bumper with the provided 1/2” button
head bolts and hex head bolts, washers, and nylon lock nuts on both top and
bottom outer mounting holes using a (5/16 allen wrench) and (3/4 wrench).
STEP 12
If you have a retracting bed step on your TRX, follow this step. Otherwise,
skip ahead. Remove the felt pad that acts as the stop for the retracting step.
Then, install one of the supplied rubber grommets and reinstall the pad. You
may have to use some RTV or something similar to hold the felt pad in place.
STEP 13
Stand back and enjoy your new ADD Phantom™ Rear Bumper.
Check and re-tighten, if needed, all mounting bolts after 100 miles and
periodically thereafter.
