OUR TOP TAPING TIPS

Our K TAPE is a proven performer with the world’s greatest athletes, in the most extreme conditions. Poor adhesion is out of the question, however, a little help goes a long way.

Always do the following:

| Round the corners of the tape.
---|---
| Clean and dry skin.
Trim or shave hair.
| Do not touch the glue when applying.
| Apply 30 mins before activity.

REMOVAL
Please take care when removing K TAPE. Ideally, apply baby oil to the tape 10 mins prior to removal as this softens the adhesive. Alternatively, remove after a warm bath or shower. Gently peel away from your skin in the direction of your hair.

WARNING ! TRACTION REACTION
If you apply K TAPE with too much stretch it can excessively pull on your skin during movement, causing irritation and blistering.
To avoid this risk:

  • Always apply the first and last 5CM of a strip without stretch (0%)
  • Never apply with more than 50% stretch

PLAY WITH IT

Don’t save your first attempt at applying K TAPE for match day or the big race. Play around with it beforehand and discover what works for you.
Follow these tips to avoid some common mistakes:

| Never overstretch the tape
---|---
| Apply end of tape with 0% stretch
| Start and finish each Strip on skin
| Use a sharp pair of scissors

END-TO-END TECHNIQUE

This is the most common technique and key to getting the most from your K TAPE.

  1. Cut a Strip and tear the backing paper off 2-3CM from one end. Apply the K TAPE to the skin with 0% stretch to create an anchor.

  2. Apply the remaining tape at the desired stretch whilst peeling away the backing paper.

APPLICATION ICONS

Some applications require more than two hands. You may need to recruit a friend to help you apply the tape.

For easy measuring, use the handy taping guidelines printed on the backing paper. Each section contains 5× 1CM squares.

The Centre Taping Technique is often used to apply K TAPE over a point of pain or around a joint. Full application detailed on the reverse.

Once applied, give the tape a good rub. This extra bit of friction activates the glue fully and helps it to stick better.

Preparing the tape:

  1. Fold tape in half
  2. Round the corners of the tape with a sharp pair of scissors

CALF

Prepare: 2× Strips (20″25CM long)
Position: Standing (lunge) & calf stretched

  1. Measure and cut the Strips. Then put the calf muscle on stretch by getting into a lunge position.

  2. Anchor a Strip to the base of the calf muscle, on the left-hand side, just above the Achilles tendon. Then apply with 0% stretch along the side of the calf.

  3. Repeat step 2 on the other side of the calf, making sure not to overlap with the first strip.

Need more?
Apply a third Strip (20-25CM) over the point of pain, using the Centre Technique, with 50% stretch and and lay either end with 0% stretch. Rub to activate the glue.

SHIN

Position: Seated & foot extended

  1. Measure the Strips whilst seated, with your foot in an extended position.

  1. Anchor a Strip 5CM below the knee on the left-hand side of your leg.

  2. Bend the knee to 45˚ and lay the remaining tape upwards and around the right-hand side of the knee with 0% stretch.

  3. Repeat Step 2 on the opposite side. Remember to finish the application on the skin not the tape.

Prepare: 2× Strips (20″25CM long)
Position: Standing & bent over

  1. In a standing position, measure the long Strip from just above the knee to the top of your thigh.

  2. Anchor the Strip to the lower hamstring. Whilst bent over apply the strip with 0% stretch over the hamstring.

  3. Use the Centre Taping Technique to apply the Strip over the point of pain with 50% stretch and lay either end with 0% stretch.
