MEASUREMENTS

YARN

  • 12 ply Acrylic 100g x 8 (9-10-11) balls

NEEDLES AND EXTRAS

  • 1 pair each 6.50mm and 7mm Knitting Needles, or sizes that give correct tension.
  • A yarn needle.

TENSION

  • 11 sts and 16 rows to 10 cm over stocking st, using 7mm needles.

BACK

  • Using 6.50mm needles, cast on 57 (63-69-73) sts.
  • Beg rib – 1st row (RS) – K2, P1, K1, rep from to last st, K1.
  • 2nd row – K1, P1, K1, rep from to end.
  • Rep 1st and 2nd rows until work measures 5 cm from beg, ending with a 2nd row.
  • Change to 7mm needles.
  • Knit in garter st (every row knit) until work measures 33 cm from beg, working last row on WS.
  • Tie a coloured thread at each end of last row to mark beg of armholes as there is no armhole shaping.
  • Cont in garter st until work measures 21 (22-23-24) cm from coloured threads, working last row on WS.
  • Shape Shoulders – Cast off next 7 (8-9-9) sts at beg of next 4 rows, then 7 (7-8-9) sts at beg of foll 2 rows.
  • Cast off rem 15 (17-17-19) sts loosely.

LEFT FRONT

  • Using 6.50mm needles, cast on 29 (33-35-37) sts.
  • Beg rib – Work 5 cm in rib as for lower band of Back, ending with a 2nd row.
  • Change to 7mm needles.
  • Knit in garter st (every row knit) until work measures 33 cm from beg, working last row on WS. **
  • Tie a coloured thread at end of last row to mark beg of armhole.
  • Shape Front Slope – 1st row (RS) – Knit to last 6 sts, K2tog, K4.
  • Cont dec one st (as before – inside the 4 sts) at front edge in every foll 4th (alt-alt-alt) row until 27 (30-33-35) sts rem, then in every foll 6th (4th-4th-4th) row until 21 (23-26-27) sts rem.
  • Cont without shaping until work measures same as Back to beg of shoulder shaping, working last row on WS.
  • Shape Shoulder – Cast off 7 (8-9-9) sts at beg of next row and foll alt row.
  • Work 1 row. Cast off rem 7 (7-8-9) sts.

RIGHT FRONT

  • Work as for Left Front to **.
  • Tie a coloured thread at beg of last row to mark beg of armhole.
  • Shape Front Slope – 1st row (RS) – K4, K2tog, knit to end.
  • Cont dec one st (as before – inside the 4 sts) at front edge in every foll 4th (alt-alt-alt) row until 27 (30-33-35) sts rem, then in every foll 6th (4th-4th-4th) row until 21 (23-26-27) sts rem.
  • Cont without shaping until work measures same as Back to beg of shoulder shaping, working last row on WS.
  • Work 1 row.
  • Shape Shoulder – Complete as for Left Front shoulder.

SLEEVES

  • Using 6.50mm needles, cast on 27 (29-29-31) sts.
  • Beg rib – Work 7 cm in rib as for lower band of Back, ending with a 2nd row.
  • Change to 7mm needles.
  • Next row – K1, inc in next st, K1, rep from to end = 40 (43-43-46) sts.
  • Knit 5 rows garter st.
  • Next row – K1, inc in next st, knit to last 2 sts, inc in next st, K1.
  • Cont inc one st (as before) at each end of every foll 6th row until there are 46 (49-51-52) sts.
  • Cont in Garter St without shaping until work measures 45 cm from beg, working last row on WS. Cast off loosely.

FINISHING

  • DO NOT PRESS.
  • Using mattress st, join shoulder seams.
  • Sew in sleeve evenly between coloured threads, placing centre of sleeves to shoulder seams.
  • Join side and sleeve seams.
  • Darn in all ends.
