Improperly cleaned and prepared sealing surfaces will result in an oil leak.
First, remove and discard existing oil pan and oil pump seal. Thoroughly clean
engine sealing surface and remove oil, residual RTV silicone and other
contaminants from surface. Apply a 0.18 in.
(4.5mm) bead of RTV silicone to new oil pan, with with 0.35 in. (9mm) diameter
beads where noted in image. The RTV silicone bead must be applied to straddle
step chamfer and sealing face. Using too little sealant may result in oil
leaks and using too much sealant may result in oil contamination and engine
damage. Install new oil pan, tighten fasteners using OEM torque specification
and tightening sequence and use the full cure time recommended by the
manufacturer of the RTV silicone. Failing to let the RTV silicone cure will
result in leaks.
