Intended use

The 12 DC link manager provides optimal management of heavy duty loads. The device provides risk-free operation of such appliances as an air conditioner, hair dryer and coffee machine, on or off grid. The device is intended to be used with 12 V charging systems and appliances. The device protects the batteries and the electrical system by selecting the safest power source. The device always keeps the starting and the house battery voltage under control, avoiding any overload to the alternator or the electrical system. The maximum constant power consumption of a connected appliance must be below 1500 W. The device is intended to be used in motorhomes, campervans and coaches.

This product is only suitable for the intended purpose and application in accordance with these instructions.
This manual provides information that is necessary for proper installation and/or operation of the product. Poor installation and/or improper operating or maintenance will result in unsatisfactory performance and a possible failure.

Target group

The electrical power supply must be connected by a qualified electrician who has demonstrated skill and knowledge related to the construction and operation of electrical equipment and installations, and who is familiar with the applicable regulations of the country in which the equipment is to be installed and/or used, and has received safety training to identify and avoid the hazards involved.

Installation

  1. Remove the two screws.

  2. Remove the lid.
    Fig. 1 on

  3. Secure the device on the mounting surface using the included screws.
    Fig. 2 on

  4. Remove the three M6 nuts.
    CAUTION! Damage hazard
All cables of power connections must have a minimum cross-section of 25 mm², or in any case, the cross-section must be matched to the required length of the cable.

  5. Connect the starting battery positive , the inverter positive and the house battery positive cables .
    Fig. 3 on

  6. Install and tighten the three M6 nuts.

  7. Loosen the two pin terminal screws.
    CAUTION! Damage hazard
To prevent damage to the equipment, the house battery negative must be connected at the end of the installation.

  8. Connect the D+ signal wire to pin and the house battery negative wire to pin .
    Fig. 4 on.

  9. Tighten the two pin terminal screws.
NOTE If the device is connected correctly, it should emit an acoustic signal.

  10. If the device does not emit an acoustic signal, press the On/Off switch.
    Fig. 5 on.

  11. Install the lid and secure it with the two screws.

  12. If the vehicle is equipped with a smart alternator (Euro-6), bridge connectors and with the supplied
    jumper cable.
    Fig. 6 on.

    NOTE
Connecting the jumper cable to either of the two connectors activates the smart alternator mode.

Operation

The device is operating automatically without any user interactions required.

Operation with engine running During the trip, when the alternator is operating, the device establishes a direct power supply line between the inverter and the starting battery. This allows the use of the air conditioner of the living side, the coffee machine and all the other appliances without stressing the vehicle charging system. This also keeps the batteries safe from deep discharges. When the engine is idling, or the vehicle accessories are operating, the voltage supplied by the alternator drops and the device activates the economy mode. In this mode the compressor of the air conditioner is switched off via a relay on the control connector. When the power supply from the alternator is restored, the device reactivates the compressor. If even in this condition the alternator fails to meet all energy requirements, the power supply from the house battery is directed to the inverter. When the alternator voltage returns back to optimal voltage range, the power supply is switched back to the starting battery and the air conditioning compressor is reactivated, turning off the economy function.

Operation with engine off

The device allows the use of the inverter connected to the house battery even when the engine is switched off, without risk. When the voltage of the house battery drops below 11.1 V during use, the device will switch into the economy mode. In this mode, the air conditioner fan keeps running, but the compressor is deactivated. This reduces consumption and protects the batteries from deep discharges. If the house battery voltage continues to drop, and reaches 10.5 V, the device continues to reduce consumption by completely isolating the inverter from the batteries. The inverter will only become active again when the house battery voltage reaches normal operating range, or when power supply from the vehicle alternator is detected.
