GOBI DESERT TURQUOISE
My latest collection was comprised of these seven speckled sensations of
Earth. Gobi Desert Turquoise, unearthed from Mongolia’s vast and mysterious
expanse of Gobi Desert, showcases an intriguing palette of blues and greens,
each echoing its arid origins’ stark beauty. This rare gemstone is
characterized by a remarkable web of matrix that interlaces through its
vibrant color, resembling the rugged terrain from which it comes. Gobi Desert

Turquoise Vocabulary Guide
Lapidary:
This term refers to the art of cutting, polishing, and engraving stones. A
lapidary also practices this craft, meticulously shaping raw gemstones into
breathtaking pieces of jewelry or decorative objects.
Matrix:
The matrix in gemstones like Turquoise refers to the host rock within which
the turquoise minerals have formed. It often appears as veins or patches,
contrasting with the primary color of the stone, adding uniqueness and
character to each piece.
Cabochon:
A cabochon is a gemstone polished and shaped rather than faceted. It features
a smooth, rounded top with a flat or slightly domed base, highlighting the
stone’s natural beauty and color without the distraction of cut edges.
Vein Turquoise:
This type of Turquoise is found in thin seams running through the host rock.
It is often extracted in narrow strips, displaying a beautiful contrast
between the Turquoise and the surrounding matrix.
Inlay:
