Introduction

Thank you for purchasing this GC series A&D counting scale. Please read this quick start guide for the GC series thoroughly before using the scale and keep it at hand for future reference. This manual describes the installation and basic operations. For further information about the scale, please refer to the separate instruction manual listed in “1.1. Detailed manual”.

This manual helps you to understand the functions and operations of the GC series in detail and make full use of them.

Warning definitions

Precautions before use

Precautions when Installing the Scale

DANGER

  • Do not touch the AC adaptor with wet hands. Doing so may cause electric shock. Do not install the scale in the location where corrosive gas and flammable gas are present.
  • The scale is heavy. Use caution when lifting, moving and carrying the scale.
  • Do not lift the scale by holding the display unit or weighing pan. Doing so may cause

DANGER: the product to fall and be damaged. Hold the bottom side of the base unit when lifting, moving and carrying the scale. Use the scale indoors. If used outdoors, the scale may be subjected to lightning surges that exceed the discharge capacity. It may not be able to withstand the energy of the lightning and may be damaged.

Consider the following installation conditions in order to obtain the proper performance.

  • The ideal conditions for installation are stable temperature and humidity, solid and level surface, location with no draft or vibration, indoors out of direct sunlight and a stable power supply.
  • Do not install the scale on a soft floor or where there is vibration.
  • Do not install the scale in location where breezes or large fluctuations in temperature occur.
  • Avoid locations in direct sunlight.
  • Do not install in a location with strong magnetic fields or strong radio signals.
  • Do not install the scale in a location where static electricity is likely to occur.
  • When humidity is 45% R.H. or less, plastic and insulating materials are susceptible to being charged with static electricity due to friction, etc.
  • The scale is not dustproof and waterproof. Install the scale in a location that will not become wet.
  • When the AC adapter is connected to an unstable AC power supply, it may malfunction.
  • Turn on the scale using the ON/OFF key and keep the weighing display on for at least 30 minutes before use.

Precautions when weighing

  • Do not place a load exceeding the weighing capacity on the weighing pan.
  • Do not apply shock to or drop anything on the weighing pan.
  • Do not use a sharp instrument such as a pencil or pen to press keys or switches.
  • Press the ZERO key before each weighing to reduce weighing errors.
  • Periodically confirm that weighing values are correct.
  • Periodic sensitivity adjustment is recommended in order to maintain accurate weighing.

Precautions for storing

  • Do not disassemble and remodel the scale.
  • Wipe using a lint-free soft cloth slightly moistened with a mild detergent when cleaning the scale. Do not use organic solvents.
  • Prevent water, dust and other foreign materials from getting into the scale.
  • Do not scrub with a brush or the like.

Unpacking

The following items are included in the package.

Remove the cushions between the weighing unit and weighing pan. Keep the cushions and the packing material to use when transporting the scale in the future.

Cautions

  • Perform sensitivity adjustment when the scale is installed at a new location or is moved to a different location. Refer to “1.1. Detailed manual”.
  • The power input terminal cannot perform data communication.
  • The power input terminal cannot output power.
  • Do not connect any device other than the specified AC adapter to the power input terminal.

Counting mode

Preparing counting mode
Enter the mass value (unit weight) per product before using counting mode.

  • Step 1. Turn on the display using the ON/OFF key. Or, press the RESET key to clear unit weight after turning on the display.
  • Step 2. The three LEDs blink. The method to enter unit weight can be selected. The counting mode becomes the initial state.
  • Step 3. Press one of the keys below to select the method to enter unit weight or recall it from memory.

NOTE: If you lose your place during operations or want to stop the current operation, press the RESET key. Tare and total values, comparator settings are kept.
Refer to “1.1. Detailed manual” for methods of setting the unit weight other than from a sample.

Unit weight by samples Counting mode with using 10 samples

  • Step 1. Press the RESET key to clear unit weight. The three LEDs of “UNIT WEIGHT BY” blink. Place a tare (container) on the center of weighing pan.
  • Step 2. Press the SAMPLE key. The scale subtracts tare weight (container weight) from weighing value and displays Add sample and 10pcs automatically. If zero is not displayed, press the TARE key

Maintenance

  • Take into account the content of “2.1. Precautions when installing the scale”.
  • Confirm periodically that weighing value are correct.
  • Adjust the scale if necessary.
  • Refer to “1.1. Detailed manual” for “sensitivity adjustment” and “sensitivity adjustment of zero point”.

Troubleshooting checklist and solutions

Problem Check items and solutions

The power does not turn on.

Nothing is displayed.

| Confirm that the AC adapter is connected correctly.


Zero is not displayed when the display is turned on.

| Confirm that nothing is touching to the weighing pan.

Remove anything on the weighing pan.

Perform sensitivity adjustment of zero point.

The display does not respond.| Turn off the display and then turn it back on.
Counting mode cannot be used.| Confirm that unit weight has been entered. Refer to “ 4 . Counting mode“.

Error codes

Error codes Descriptions and solutions
Error 1 Unstable weighing value

“Zero display” and “sensitivity adjustment” cannot be performed.

Confirm that nothing is touching to the weighing pan. Avoid breezes and vibration.

Perform “sensitivity adjustment of zero point”.

Press the RESET key to return to weighing display.

Error 2| Input error

The value input for unit weight or tare value is out of range. Input a value within the range.

 | Error 3|  | The memory (circuit) has malfunctioned.
 | Error 4|  | The voltage sensor has malfunctioned.
Error 5| Weighing sensor error

Confirm that cable between display unit and weighing unit is connected correctly.

The weighing sensor has malfunctioned.

CAL E| Sensitivity adjustment error

The sensitivity adjustment has been stopped because the sensitivity adjustment weight is too heavy or too light. Use a proper sensitivity adjustment weight and adjust the scale.

E| The load is too heavy

The weighing value exceeds the weighing range. Remove anything on the weighing pan.

The weighing value is too light. Confirm that the load is placed correctly on the weighing pan.

Lb| Power voltage is too low

The power supply voltage is too low. Use the correct AC adapter and a proper power source.
