Product Usage Instructions
Before Installation:
- Remove all contents from the box and verify all parts are present based on the parts list.
- Read the instructions carefully before proceeding with the installation.
- As the running board is heavy, it is highly recommended to have assistance during installation to avoid injury or damage to the vehicle.
Installation Steps:

Step 1:
Start the installation under the Driver/Left side of the vehicle. Locate the front (3) factory studs along the inner side of the body panel. Clean threads on the studs before installing Brackets to remove paint buildup. -
Step 2:
Attach the Mounting Bracket to the 3 threaded studs using (3) 8mm x 24mm Flat Washers and (3) 8mm Nylon Lock Nuts. -
Step 7:
Level and adjust the Running Board and fully tighten all hardware.

Q: Is cutting or drilling required for installation?
A: No, cutting or drilling is not required for installing the Defender Step. -
Q: What tools are needed for installation?
A: Tools required include a wrench set with sizes 10mm, 13mm, 16mm, and 18mm, as well as an Allen wrench set with sizes 4mm, 5mm, 6mm, and 8mm.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTION
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE FOLLOWING PICTURES ARE BASED ON THE DRIVER SIDE INSTALLATION.
- Start the installation under the Driver/Left side of the vehicle. Locate the front (3) factory studs along the inner side of the body panel, (Fig 1). NOTE: Clean threads on the studs first before installing Brackets to remove paint buildup.
- Select (1) Driver/Left Mounting Bracket. Attach the Mounting Bracket to the (3) factory studs with (3) 8mm Flat Washers and (3) 8mm Nylon Lock Nuts, (Fig 2). Leave brackets loose at this time.
- Repeat Steps 1 & 2 to attach the remaining (2) Driver/Left Mounting Brackets to the center and rear mounting locations along the body panel, (Figs 3 & 4).
- Select the Driver/Left Running Board. Select (1) 8mm Bolt/Nut Plate. Insert the Bolt/Nut Plate into the mounting tabs on the Running Board. Thread (1) 8mm Plastic Retainer onto the threads of the Bolt/Nut Plate to hold it in place, (Fig 5).
- Repeat Step 4 to insert (2) 8mm Bolt/Nut Plates into the center and rear mounting tabs.
- Attach the Running Board to the (3) Mounting Brackets with (3) 8mm Flat Washers, (3) 8mm Lock Washers, (3) 8mm Hex Nuts and (3) 8mm Combo Bolts, (Figs 6—9). Do not tighten hardware.
- Level and adjust the Running Board and fully tighten all hardware.
- Repeat Steps 1—7 to attach the Passenger/Right Running Board.
- Do periodic inspections to the installation to make sure that all hardware is secure and tight.
Attention
To protect your investment, do not use any type of polish or wax that may
contain abrasives that could damage the finish. Mild soap may be used also to
clean the Running Boards.
