INSTALLATION and WIRING
IMPORTANT: Provide each unit with a 8-30V DC power supply for normal lighting.
PRODUCT DAMAGE WILL OCCUR IF THE RATED INPUT VOLTAGE IS EXCEEDED.
NOTE: To meet the minimum illumination requirements of NFPA 101 (current Life
Safety Code), the maximum mounting height from ground of WT is 14.6 feet and
of FCT is 14.6 feet
NOTE: This unit should be mounted ONLY through a pair of the preformed
keyholes onto a 4” “OCTAGON” junction box, or through a pair of the keyhole
knockouts onto a 4” “SQUARE” junction box, or using conduit entry.
OPENING THE UNIT
Use a flat head screw driver, locate the slots, one on each side and two on top, and twist screw driver in each slot.
JUNCTION BOX MOUNTING
-Images shown below may vary from actual product-
- Feed the supply leads through the junction box and prepare the lead ends to make connections to the fixture leads
- On the rear housing, remove the round center knockout (1.2” diameter) and the desired pair of keyhole knockouts. Use knockouts instead of drilling holes to prevent metal shavings from entering the unit.
- Route the supply leads through the knockout and attach them to the respective leads on the fixture. Grounding is not required for remote units.
- Mount the rear housing on the junction box with suitable hardware (not supplied).
SURFACE CONDUIT MOUNTING
NOTE: to avoid interference with components in the housing, use the most compact wire connectors appropriate to the wire gauge.
-
PREPARING THE UNIT FOR CONDUIT :
Remove the conduit plug from inside. The unit is threaded to accept 1/2” NPT threads (14 TPI), which are common in rigid conduit and EMT connector products. Rigid conduit or EMT fittings can be directly threaded into the housing without the need for a locknut, or for wet locations, use an approved wet location fitting. -
BRANCH CIRCUIT WIRING :
The wiring compartment is sized for (3) incoming 12 AWG wires and (3) outgoing 12 AWG wires and common wire connectors. If your branch circuit is a larger AWG or you have a need for a through-wire application, install the branch circuit raceway such that you do not have to pass the circuit through the fixture
A right angle screwdriver may be required to break the plug from the paint
FINAL ASSEMBLY
- Ensure all wires and connectors are routed to avoid interference with other components. Line up the Alignment pins (located at diagonally opposite corners of the front housing) with the mating receptacles (two on the rear housing).
- To properly close the unit, it is important to push the cover straight onto the rear housing. If the pins are not aligned with the receptacles, the housing will not close properly. Make sure there are no gaps between the front and rear housings. If gap is present, open the unit and reinstall the front housing.
