Lavatools PT12 Javelin Digital Instant Thermometer

GETTING STARTED
Extend the probe and the Javelin is ready for use.
- Sleep Mode If you leave the Javelin on and idle for more than 60 minutes, the device will automatically go to sleep. To get it going again, simply retract and extend the probe.
CHANGING THE BATTERY
- When the display shows “ERROR” and the icon, it’s time to switch out your battery. Fully retract the probe and twist open the battery door with a coin.
- Carefully remove the existing battery and insert a new CR2032 with the positive (+) pole up.
SWITCHING BETWEEN C°/F°
- Personalize your Javelin using the C°/ F° switch found inside the battery bay. Simply twist open the battery door and tap out the battery to access the switch.

Magnetic Backing
The Javelin has a built-in magnetic backing to allow for convenient storage. Magnetic backing may not work on stainless steel surfaces. -
Splash Resistant
The Javelin is rated at IP65 splash resistance. This means that it is protected against low-pressure jets of water, such as splashes from a tap. -
Tapered Sensor Tip
The ultra-sensitive thermistor sensor is located at the tip of the probe, requiring a minimum insertion distance of 0.25” (5mm). -
Antimicrobial Coating
Silver-based antimicrobial additive is impregnated into the plastic shell to inhibit the growth of pathogens. Efficacy is rated at 99% or greater.
ACCURACY TEST
- To check the accuracy of your thermometer, we recommend using an ice bath test.
- Fully pack a large cup with crushed ice and fill up to 3/4 with purified water.
- Let the slurry sit for a brief moment, then give it a quick stir to allow the temperature to equalize throughout.
- Insert the tip of the probe into the very center of the cup and stir gently.
- In 3 to 4 seconds, the display will read within 1°F (0.5°C) of 32°F (0°C).
TROUBLESHOOTING
- WON’T SWITCH ON retract and extend probe or change battery
- DISPLAYING “ERROR” battery is running low, change batteries
- DEVICE ASLEEP Retract and extend the probe to wake
USE & MAINTENANCE
- Always measure at the center of the meat, avoid hitting bone or hard cartilage.
- Prevent build up of grime; always clean the body with a soft damp cloth.
- Do not clean with solvents or scouring agents.
- Do not put the device in the dishwasher.
- Do not leave the device in the oven.
- Do not place the probe directly over the fire.
- Do not immerse the device for any length of time.
- Do not subject the device to extreme temperature, vibration, or shock.

- This thermometer comes with a 3-year limited warranty against all hardware defects in components or workmanship under normal use.
- This device is exclusively intended for the field of application described in this manual.
- It should only be used as described within these guidelines.
- Damage resulting from normal wear and tear, water entry, abuse, misuse, accidental breakage, negligence, defects caused by modifications, repair, and servicing not made or authorized by Lavatools will void all warranties.
