Cobra CA-MICROOBD-00 Obd-II Hardwire Kit

INTRODUCTION

This Vehicle Hardwire Kit connects your Micro USB powered device directly to your on board diagnostic port (OBD II), freeing up your 12V accessory port and eliminating clutter on your dash board. This Hardwire Kit should work with any Micro USB powered device, but is designed and tested specifically for Micro USB powered Radar Detectors and Dash Cams from Cobra.

NOTE: OBD II port locations, fuse types, and interior designs vary greatly by vehicle. This guide is intended to outline basic steps for installation but the process may differ depending on your car’s make and model.

USING THE OBD II HARDWIRE KIT

  1. Connect one end of the micro USB cable to the dash cam and tuck the cables into your vehicle’s headliner for a clean install.
  2. Plug the other end of the hardwire kit into your vehicle’s OBDII port. You can generally find the OBDII port on the underside of the dashboard by the driver’s side door. If you have trouble locating the OBDII port, please consult your vehicle’s owner’s manual.
  3. Go to the camera’s setting menu. Enable Parking Mode to monitor for impacts to your vehicle. Enable Motion Detection to monitor for movement in front of the camera (please note, this may result in more files being created).
  4. Enable power using the included power supply box. A green light will appear when power is being delivered to the camera.

Using the OBD II Hardwire Kit

NOTE: When the battery voltage is lower than 11.9V (12V vehicle systems) or 23.9V (24V vehicle systems), the hardwire kit’s low voltage protection function will be activated. Power to the connected device will be cut off and only resume after the car has been started and the car battery is charged.
