The future is now

  • Congratulations on your new Powerplus robot mower. You no longer have to spend your time on lawn maintenance because your smart garden assistant will keep your lawn perfectly neat for you, throughout the year. Use the practical smartphone app to easily operate and monitor the mower.
  • Follow all steps carefully for a carefree and safe installation. After that, the only thing left for you to do is enjoy your lovely garden!

Read the manual and this installation guide to be fully prepared when installing your new robot mower.
What you’ll need:
• Wooden or rubber hammer
• Wire stripping pliers
• Cable cutters
• Folding rule

Planning stage

  • To ensure perfect mowing results for your garden, a boundary wire should be placed around the entire perimeter of your lawn. Thoroughly inspect your garden before doing so.
  • We recommend making a sketch of your garden first, which shows all fixed obstacles like trees, shrubs, garden paths or ponds. Add where you want the charging station as well.
  • You’ll need this sketch later to determine where to place the boundary wire and charging station.varo-POWDPG6010-Robot-Mower-fig- \(4\)

Preparing your lawn

  • Make sure there are no loose rocks, pieces of wood, wires or cables on your lawn.
  • The grass cannot be taller than 50mm.
  • If it’s taller, first mow your lawn with a regular mower. The patches where you’ll be installing the boundary wire should be mowed using your regular mower’s lowest cutting height setting.

Preparing the charging station

  • First assemble the charging station and place it in its final intended location. Temporarily secure the four corners using the included fixing pegs. Make sure to place it on even ground!
  • Allow for a 2m straight line of wire at the front and a 1m straight line at the back of the charging station.
  • Carefully strip about 10mm of insulation from the wire.varo-POWDPG6010-Robot-Mower-fig- \(7\)
  • Leave about 10 to 15cm of wire at the beginning, so you’ll have some leeway during the installation.
  • Insert the first part of the boundary wire through the righthand slot, along the bottom of the charging station and pull it out on the other side. Connect the end of the wire to the black clamp on the charging station.

Installing and connecting the charging station

What to keep in mind when installing the charging station:

  • Select a straight piece of lawn within the mowing area. The station should be on even ground.
  • There should be 2m of straight and fully cleared space in front of the charging station because the robot mower can only return to the station in a counterclockwise manner.
  • There should be 1m of free space behind the charging station.
  • We recommend placing the charging station as close as possible to a power outlet. The included power cord is 10m in length.
  • Place the station in a shaded area, so the robot mower is not exposed to the sun for too long.
  • Temporarily secure the station using 4 fixing pegs.
  • Connect the charging adaptor to the station.varo-POWDPG6010-Robot-Mower-fig- \(10\)

Charging the robot mower

The battery for your robot mower will be partially charged when you receive it. We recommend fully charging it before its first use. Follow these steps to do so:

  • Place the battery in the robot mower.
    Switch on the robot mower.
The on/off switch can be found to the right, beneath the display screen.
The robot mower will not charge when it’s switched off.

  • Slide the robot mower into the charging station from the back.
Make sure the robot mower’s charging points are neatly aligned in the middle, underneath the charging station’s contact pins.

  • Check the indicator light on the charging station. The red light will light up and the robot mower will charge, with the green light flickering.

  • If the red indicator doesn’t light up, check that the station is plugged in and the mower is placed correctly in the charging station.

The robot mower is compatible with all 20V and 2x20V Dual Power batteries.

Minimum distances

Installing the boundary wire

The boundary wire determines the borders of the mowing area. The robot mower will mow everything within that defined area. Anything outside those boundaries will not be mowed. The wire also helps to indicate obstacles and exclude them from the mowing area. It’s best to do this when the soil is still slightly damp! If the soil is too dry, the fixing pegs could break and damage the boundary wire.

  • Install the wire clockwise starting at the charging station.
  • Place the wire in a straight line with the groove in the charging station. This straight piece should be at least 1m in length.varo-POWDPG6010-Robot-Mower-fig- \(15\)
  • Secure the wire using the fixing pegs provided. We recommend maintaining a distance between 50 and up to 75cm between the pegs. For more precision, we advise leaving less than 75cm between each peg. Especially when placing the wire around flower beds, shrubs or other obstacles.
  • Loose boundary wire runs the risk of being cut by the robot mower. Make sure the boundary wire is always taut and touching the ground.varo-POWDPG6010-Robot-Mower-fig- \(16\)

How to correctly encircle an obstacle

  1. Place the wire in a straight line from the edges of your lawn towards the obstacle.
  2. Guide the wire around the object. Use more fixing pegs, placed less than 75cm from each other to obtain a perfectly circular border.
  3. Bring the wire back towards the edge of your lawn in a straight line. Make sure the wire never crosses itself. The space between the obstacle and the edge of your lawn should measure at least 75cm.

The two parallel wires coming to and from the obstacle should be as close as possible to each other. You can do this by securing them both with the same fixing peg. The robot mower will not detect them.
Make sure the wires never cross each other.

Connecting the charging station

  • You’ve finished marking the boundaries of the entire mowing area with the boundary wire. At the end, it’s best to leave a margin of about 10 to 15cm of wire. This will make it easier to reconnect the charging station after storing it during the winter months.varo-POWDPG6010-Robot-Mower-fig- \(19\)
  • Cut the wire and strip about 10mm of insulation from the end of the wire.varo-POWDPG6010-Robot-Mower-fig- \(20\)
  • Insert the end of the boundary wire through the lefthand slot, along the bottom of the charging station and pull it out on the other side. Connect the end of the wire to the red clamp on the charging station.
  • Now you can fully secure the charging station.

You’ve now finished the more technical part of the installation.
The next steps will have you switch on the mower and send it on its first ride out.

Setting up your robot mower

When the robot mower’s battery is fully charged, switch the mower on to start the setup. Now you can connect the mower to the app and program it according to your preferences.

  • First determine the cutting height. Use the button in the centre of the mower to do so. You can select a height between 25 and 50mm.

  • Before you start using your robot mower, you’ll need to set a passcode. The default passcode is 0000. Set your new passcode using the control panel on top of the mower.

  • Press HOME (for “0”).
Press START to enter the second digit

    • Press HOME (for “0”).
Press START to enter the third digit

    • Press HOME (for “0”).
Press START to enter the fourth digit

    • Press HOME (for “0”).
Press OK to confirm the pass codevaro-POWDPG6010-Robot-Mower-fig-

  • Only then can you continue setting up / programming your mower.

Note: press HOME once to select 0, Press HOME twice for 1, three times for 2 and so on.

Starting the robot mower and its first exploratory ride

  • Place the robot mower 3m behind the charging station, its front perpendicular to the boundary wire and at a distance of 1m. Press START and then press OK to manually switch on the mower.varo-POWDPG6010-Robot-Mower-fig- \(22\)
  • After a short self-test, the robot mower will trace the entire route laid out by the boundary wire in a clockwise manner. Afterwards, it will return to the charging station, to then start mowing.
  • If a mowing schedule was programmed, the mower will start off in a backwards motion, go around the charging station towards the front and then it will mow along the outer perimeter of the lawn, set by the boundary wire. The mower will then stop at the charging station again,
  • go backwards, and start mowing the lawn. Take advantage of this first mowing session to check that the robot mower can easily navigate any bends or around obstacles. Adjust the position of the boundary wire where needed.varo-POWDPG6010-Robot-Mower-fig- \(23\)
  • Don’t interrupt the mower during its first mowing session. When it’s done, it will automatically return to the charging station and go into standby mode. Note: the mower will always leave the charging station in a backward motion.
  • Now you can connect the robot mower with the app and program it according to your preferences.

Downloading and using the app

  • Scan the QR code or go to www.powerplustips.com/en/POWDPG6010 to download the app.

  • You can also find the app in the Google Play store or the Apple App store under Powerplus mower POWDPG6010.

  • Adding the mower to the app

    • Activate your Bluetooth and connect the mower with the app. Make sure to be within a 6m radius of the mower.
    • The serial number will be visible after scanning while connected to Bluetooth.
  • When you’ve added the mower, there are two ways to connect it:

    • Bluetooth (advised)
This is only possible when you’re within a 6m radius of your robot mower.

    • Wi-Fi
When using this option, it’s important the Wi-Fi signal is strong enough at the charging station.
When using the Wi-Fi connection, you can check your robot mower’s data and adjust the settings from any location.

Using the app

Once the mower is connected, you can

  • program a mowing schedule
  • select the operating mode
  • guard and operate the mower
  • immediately be notified of any error messages
  • update the robot software online

Mowing patterns
The random pattern ensures your lawn is mowed evenly, without visible lines.

Maintenance and protection

  • It’s important to regularly check and clean your robot mower.
  • The mower can be hosed down using a garden hose (never use a high pressure cleaner!). Use a moist cloth or lawnmower brush for clean-up.
  • Check that the blades can spin freely.varo-POWDPG6010-Robot-Mower-fig- \(31\)
  • We recommend fully charging your robot mower’s battery before storing it away for winter, and to keep it in a dry and frost-free space. The mower can be stored in your garden shed or garage. Its battery should be kept somewhere in the house where temperatures are constant. The lithium ion battery can’t withstand the frost and could become damaged when stored incorrectly.
  • While the robot mower is stored away for winter, the Dual Power battery can also be used on other battery-powered tools from the Dual Power product range.
  • Pull the charger’s plug from the power outlet.
  • Thoroughly clean the robot mower before storing it. Grass contains acids that could damage the mower. Be sure to remove all grass remnants with a brush and a moist cloth.

Separately available accessories

  • BOUNDARY WIRE

    • Your robot mower comes with a 160m boundary wire. In most cases, this is sufficient for small gardens with very few obstacles. If you have a large garden or a lot of obstacles in your garden, the POWACG9122 boundary wire is also available separately. It’s 50m in length and can be used as an extension or to replace pieces of the original boundary wire.
    • A 75-piece set of spare fixing pegs is also separately available under item number POWACG9111.
  • BLADES
To ensure clean results, it’s important your mower’s blades are nice and sharp. Check them regularly and replace them if necessary. Your new robot mower already comes with 2 sets of replacement blades, but if you still need more, you can find them under item number POWACG9102.

  • LAWNMOWER BRUSH
The bottom of the robot mower needs regular cleaning. Don’t use a steel brush for this, or any other tools that could scratch your mower. We recommend using our POWACG9010 lawnmower brush. This brush features sturdy nylon bristles, which allow you to easily remove grass and dirt without damaging the mower.
