A Epilation
Make sure the epilation head (2) is clean. Depending on model, attach one of
the caps:
Massage roller cap (1): for best comfort Skin contact cap (7): for
increased efficiency Dry usage: Your skin must be free from grease or
cream.
Wet usage: Make sure your skin is well wetted to achieve optimum gliding
conditions. Always stretch your skin while epilating. Hold the appliance at a
right angle (90°) and guide it in a slow, continuous motion against the hair
growth in the direction of the switch.
Legs : When epilating behind the knee, keep the leg stretched out
straight. Sensitive areas: First clean and carefully dry sensitive areas
to remove residues (like deodorant). Use speed 1. When epilating the underarm,
keep your arm raised up and guide the appliance in different directions.
Beginner cap (8) for first time users:
combines epilation and shaving to help getting used to hair removal from the
root. It has been designed for wet usage on legs only. Always apply shave foam
or gel on your wet skin when using the beginner cap.
In the beginning phase (first 4 weeks), use the epilator with the beginner cap
once a week to epilate and shave. Take special care on bony, uneven skin areas
in order to avoid injuries caused by the blades. Between usages, rinse off the
foam built up on the beginner cap. After 4 weeks, you will be used to hair
removal and can switch to epilation using the skin contact or massage cap.
If you want to continue to use the beginner cap, make sure to replace it after
12 usages (or in case the blade shows signs of wear, kinks, or damage).
Epilation tips
- If you have not used an epilator before, it may take some time for your skin to adapt to epilation. In the beginning, epilate on a weekly basis to help reduce the discomfort.
- First time users should epilate in the evening so that reddening can disappear overnight. To relax the skin, we recommend applying a moisturizing cream after epilation.
- Epilation is easier and more comfortable when the hair is between 0.5–3 mm long. If hairs are longer, we recommend that you shorten them.
- Exfoliation avoids ingrown hairs and provides optimum conditions for epilation.
Cleaning the epilation head
After use, turn off the appliance and clean the epilation head: Remove the cap
(1, 7 or 8). Brush out the tweezers while turning the tweezer element
manually. Press the release button (5) to take off the epilation head. Gently
tap it to remove hairs from inside the head.
If a thorough clean is needed (e.g. after a wet usage with gel), hold the
epilation head under hot running water. Shake off remaining water and re-
attach in dry condition.
General information on epilation
All methods of hair removal from the root can lead to in-grown hairs and
irritation (e.g. itching, discomfort or reddening of the skin), depending on
the condition of the skin and hair. This is a normal reaction and should
quickly disappear, but may be stronger when you are removing hair from the
root for the first few times or if you have sensitive skin. If after 36 hours
the skin still shows irritation, we recommend that you contact your physician.
In general, the skin reaction and the sensation of pain tend to diminish
considerably with repeated use of Silk·épil. In some cases inflammation of the
skin could occur when bacteria penetrate the skin (e.g. when sliding the
appliance over the skin). Thorough cleaning of the epilation head before each
use will minimize the risk of infection.
If you have any doubts about using this appliance, please consult your
physician. In the following cases, this appliance should only be used after
prior consultation with a physician: eczema, wounds, inflamed skin reactions
such as folliculitis (purulent hair follicles), varicose veins, around moles,
reduced immunity of the skin, e.g. diabetes mellitus, during pregnancy,
Raynaud’s disease, haemophilia, immune deficiency or candida.
B Shaving
The shaver head (9) is designed for a fast and close shave of legs, underarms
and bikini line, contour trimming and cutting hair to 5 mm length. Use the
shaver head only on dry skin and with speed 2. Do not shave with a damaged
foil.

c Cutting hair to 5 mm length:

d Cleaning
Tap the shaver foil (II) on a flat surface.
Do not clean it with the brush as this may damage the foil.
e The shaving parts need to be lubricated regularly every 3 months.
f Replace the foil frame (II) and cutter block (III) when you notice a
reduced shaving performance.
C Body treatment
The exfoliation brush (10) helps avoid ingrown hair by removing dead skin
cells. It also improves epilating results when used 1-2 days before epilation.
You may use the exfoliation brush on a weekly basis on wet skin during your
shower routine with your preferred body scrub or shower gel. When using the
appliance in a bathtub, do not immerse it fully in water since this will not
provide optimum results.
How to use
Attach the brush adapter (11) provided with brush (10). Slowly guide the
appliance in a circular motion over your skin to gently refine it. Avoid
holding it on the same skin area for prolonged time. Do not use it on your
face.
Cleaning
After use, rinse the brush under running water. If needed, you may use some
liquid soap for more thorough clean. Before storing the exfoliation brush,
attach the protective cap.
With weekly use, we recommend replacing the brush after 12 months.
