45W Universal Dimming Class 2 LED Driver
Model: MD45W12VA (Suitable for use in dry and damp locations)
MD45W12VA 45W Universal Dimming Class 2 LED Driver
Outstanding LED lighting dimming performance, architectural quality brightness
control, guaranteed dimmer compatibility
Dimming LED Drivers feature an integrated microprocessor that automatically
senses and optimizes dimming performance based on the load and type of dimming
technology being used.
- Delivers smooth, stable, flicker-free dimming with a soft start and desirable fade-on and fade-to-dark performance
- When a dimmer is set to full brightness there is no loss of top-end light output
- No minimum lighting load is required for wide-range dimming
- No de-rating, load up to 100% of the model’s rated capacity
- Compatible with both single-color and RGB color-changing LED lighting
- Rated for 50,000 hours when used 8-12 hours a day at full load, expect longer life when dimmed or using lesser wattage loads.
INSTALLATION GUIDELINES
Shock hazard. Turn off the power at the circuit breaker before connecting.
-
This driver works with both 12-volt DC and 120-volt AC dimmers, but not at the same time. If using a 12-volt DC dimmer or RGB color controller, do not also use a 120V AC dimmer in the same circuit
-
Allow for ventilation. Do not install inside a cabinet smaller than 12 in. W x 12 in. H x 12 in. D
-
CAUTION: Mount the unit at a height greater than 1 ft (30 cm) from the ground surface
-
Operate only within a specified ambient temperature range of 4°F (-20°C) to 104°F (40°C).
Operating at cooler surrounding air temperatures will extend driver life -
ETL Listed, suitable for dry and damp locations. For locations that could be exposed to rain or splashing water, install the driver in a suitable wet location power supply enclosure
-
The total wattage of all LED fixtures used must not exceed the 45-watt rating of this power supply
-
Use only insulated staples or plastic ties to secure cords and wires
-
Route and secure wires so they will not be pinched or damaged
-
All wiring must be in accordance with national and local electrical codes, low voltage Class 2 circuit. For wire runs inside of walls, use properly certified Cl2 or better cabling and appropriate mounting hardware. If you are unclear as to how to install and wire this product, contact a qualified electrician. Failure to install this device properly may result in electrical shock or fire.
-
Do not install Class 2 low voltage wiring in the same runs as AC main power. If AC and low voltage wires cross, keep them at 90-degree angles
HARDWIRE INSTALLATION
Remove end caps to access terminal block connectors for both AC input and DC
outputs. Use
Romex/Loomex style 14-gauge to tie in with 120-volt AC line voltage. For low
voltage, a DC output side 18guage cable is recommended. Be sure all wires are
properly seated inside and under the terminal block screw clamp. Tighten down
the clamp with a screwdriver. Do not over-tighten. When the hardwired install
is required, the driver must be installed within 5 feet breaker panel or in
according to local electrical codes.
This 45-watt LED driver is compatible with both forward phase (leading edge,
Triac, incandescent) and reverse phase (electronic low voltage, ELV, and
trailing edge) AC dimmers. It is also compatible with low-voltage PWM dimmers
and higher-end lighting ® controls such as Lutron GRAFIK Eye systems. Although
any dimmer will work with the MD45W12VA Dimming LED drivers, It is recommended
to use Lutron C•L and Leviton Decora LED/CFL Universal Dimmers. They are
readily available in a wide range of styles and colors and feature an
adjustment to set the low-end dimming range.
For large applications and multiple zones of lighting, one 120V AC dimmer can
be connected to multiple 45-watt dimming drivers. Do not exceed 40% of your AC
dimmer’s rated maximum allowable incandescent/halogen wattage capacity. If the
dimmer states 600 watts maximum incandescent load, do not connect more than
five 45 watt MD45W12VA drivers (max combined load of 225 watts). If the dimmer
is rated for 2000 watts incandescent, do not connect more than 17 LED drivers
(max combined load of 765 watts). The MD45W12VA Universal Dimming LED Drivers
require no minimum load.
For smooth dimming 8W minimum load is required
