IMPORTANT MEASUREMENT GUIDELINES
CAUTION! Do not use the device if it is damaged. Before use, inspect the device for possible damage.
- Carefully clean the tip of the probe before each measurement.
- Insert the probe straight into the soil. Do not apply force. If you encounter resistance, try another spot.
- The probe must be positioned centrally between the plant stem and the edge of the pot. For large pots with a diameter exceeding 30.5 cm (approximately 12 inches), position the probe at 1/3 the distance from the rim to the plant stem.
- If the flowerpot is particularly deep, insert the probe into the soil until it reaches between the roots.
NOTES Temperature and moisture are measured simultaneously. Before planting, measure the approximate planting site, and for more precise results, conduct multiple measurements at different spots.
THE PRODUCT
Refer to image on page (1)
- Light sensor: Measures the incidence of light
- Display: Digital
- ON: Switching on the product
- °C/°F OFF: Select Celsius or Fahrenheit, Long press to switch off the product
- pH/°C: Select the measuring mode (pH value or moisture & temperature)
- Battery Compartment: At the rear of the product
- Measuring stick: With a sensor to stick into the soil
DISPLAY
NOTE: Before the first measurement, remove the protective film from the
display and the protective cap from the measuring probe.
- A. Light intensity
- B. pH-measuring is active
- C. Measured result of pH-value or temperature in °C or`°F
- D. Moisture
- E. Measuring of temperature is active
- F. Low battery warning
Power Off: The device will automatically power off if no button is pressed for approximately 4 minutes. Hold the °C/°F OFF button for about 3 seconds to manually turn off the device.
LIGHT INTENSITY MEASUREMENT
Position the device in the soil so that the light sensor faces the direction
of the strongest light exposure.
- Turn on the device using the ON button.
- The light intensity will be displayed on the screen.
- Compare the measurement result with the recommendations in the plant table (Chapter “Plant Table”).
Light Intensity Measurement Range: 9 Levels (LOW- to HGH+)
If the measured light intensity is higher/lower than the recommendation, relocate the plant to a spot with less/more sunlight.
SOIL PH MEASUREMENT
Set the measuring mode to pH. Insert the measuring probe into the soil. Turn
on the device using the ON button. The device will begin measuring. After some
time, you can read the measurement result on the display. Allow the device to
remain in the soil for a while to obtain a more accurate result. Compare the
measurement result with the recommendations in the plant table.
pH Value Measurement Range: 12 Levels (3.5 to 9.0; Display Resolution: 0.5)
LO and HH = The measurement result is outside the measurement range
- If the measured pH value is higher than the recommendation, add some granite meal, sulfur powder, or peat to the soil.
- If the measured pH value is lower than the recommendation, add some lime to the soil.
NOTE ON PH VALUE
The amount of acidity or alkalinity in the soil is measured using the “pH
value.”
- pH Value Below 7 = Acidic Soil
- pH Value of 7 = Neutral Soil
- pH Value Above 7 = Alkaline Soil
A high concentration of acid slows down the beneficial work of bacteria in the soil. Excessive alkali in the soil reduces nutrient levels and increases salt concentration, which hinders plant growth.
SOIL MOISTURE MEASUREMENT
- Set the measuring mode to °C.
- Insert the measuring probe into the soil.
- Turn on the device using the ON button.
- After some time, you can read the measurement result on the display. Allow the device to remain in the soil for a while to obtain a more accurate result.
- Compare the measurement result with the recommendations in the plant table.
Moisture Measurement Range: 5 Levels (Very Dry, Dry, Normal, Wet, Very
Wet)
Water Content at Test Site:
- DRY: Below 10%
- NOR: 10% to 20%
- WET: Above 20%
If the measured moisture is lower than the recommended level, water the plant until it reaches the recommended range. If the measured moisture is higher than the recommended level, refrain from watering until it reaches the recommended range.
SOIL TEMPERATURE MEASUREMENT
Temperature Measurement Range: -9°C to +50°C / 16°F to 122°F
- Set the measuring mode to °C.
- Insert the measuring probe into the soil.
- Turn on the device using the ON button.
- You can read the measurement result on the display. If the device is not in the soil, it will display the ambient temperature.
- Use the °C/°F OFF button to switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit units.
THE PACKAGE INCLUDES:
- Soil tester
- 1x block battery
- User manual
