Beanie Knitting Kit

• Extra supplies needed:
  • Thread.
  • Scissors.
• Read all instructions before beginning project.
• Measurements: (approx) 56cm. To Fit Head.
• Tension:
  • 15 sts to 10 cm in width over stocking st, using 5.50mm needles and 2 strands of yorn together.

Beanie

1. Using 5.50mm circular needle and 2 strands of yarn together, cast on 77 sts.
   Note – Work in rows, not rounds.

2. Work in stocking st until work measures 9 cm from beg, ending with a puri row.

3. Tie a coloured thread at each end of last row to mark fold back for brim.

4. Cont in stocking st until work measures 17 cm from coloured threads, ending with a purl row and dec 4 sts evenly across = 73 sts.

Shape Crown

1. 1st row – K1, K2tog, K6, rep from to end = 64 sts.
2. 2nd row – Puri.
3. 3rd row – Ki, * K2tog, K5, rep from ” to end = 55 sts.
4. 4th row – Purl.
5. 5th row – K1, K2tog, K4, rep from to end = 46 sts.
6. 6th row – Purt.
7. 7th row – K1, K2tog. K3, rep from to end = 37 sts.
8. 8th row – Puri.
9. 9th row – Ki, K2tog, K2, rep from to end = 28 sts.
10. 10th row – Purl.
11. 11th row – K1. K2tog. K1, rep from to end = 19 sts.
12. 12th row – Purl.

Break off yam leaving a long end. Run end through rem sts, draw up tightly and fasten off securely.

Finishing Care Instructions
Do not press. Darn in ends. Using single strand of yam and half mattress st seam. join side edges together to form centre back seam, reversing seam from cast on edge to coloured threads. Make a large pom pom and attach securely to top of beanie as pictured.

Pom pom maker instructions

1. Open the top two arches of pom pom maker.
2. Wind yarn around both the arches on the top.
3. Repeat with bottom two arches.
4. Close arches on both sides.
5. Cut the yarn down the middle on both top and bottom.
6. Tie with a thread around the centre.
7. Open one arch at a time.
8. Remove pom pom maker.
9. Trim loose ends to shape.
