Timer
- The timer can be used for selecting a cooking time (up to 120 minutes).
- Note: The appliance’s functions can be used only once the timer has been set.
- To set a time of less than 20 minutes, turn the timer to a somewhat higher setting first and then slowly turn it back to the desired time setting.
- To turn the appliance off, turn the timer knob to position OFF.
- After the pre-programmed time has elapsed, an acoustic signal is heard and the appliance is automatically switched off.
Operational settings
The small hot-plate can be operated together with either the oven compartment
or the large hot-plate. However, it is not possible to operate both the large
hot-plate and oven compartment at the same time.
Before using for the first time
- Clean the appliance (see Cleaning and care) and remove any packing materials completely.
- Before using the appliance for the first time, let the interior heat up for 10 minutes at 230 °C with both heating elements on. A slight odour may be noticed; this is quite normal and will only last for a very short time.
- Before using the hot-plates for the first time, let them heat up for approximately 3 minutes at maximum power, while ensuring sufficient ventilation. During this process, a little smoke may be emitted.
- Because of such odours, sufficient ventilation should be ensured by opening windows or balcony doors.
Using the oven compartment
- Pre-heat the oven compartment for several minutes with the door closed, using both heating elements. Set the temperature control knob to the required level, and use the timer to select the cooking time.
- With either of the heating elements switched on, the light ring and the interior lamp will be on.
- Place the food to be cooked on the baking rack. When cooking food containing fat or moisture, use the baking tray to stop any dripping into the interior of the appliance.
- Close the door.
- Always use the door handle to open the hot door after use.
- When removing the baking tray or rack, use the handle provided. Always place the tray and rack down on a heatresistant surface.
- After use, set the 7-position switch to its OFF position and remove the plug from the wall socket.
Rotating spit
- When the food to be cooked is put onto the spit, make sure that it does not come into contact with the upper or lower heating elements; ensure sufficient distance.
- Pierce the food to be cooked on the spit, making sure that the spit goes through the middle. This is to ensure that the food does not go to near the interior walls or the heating elements. Use the holding clamps to secure the food in the centre of the spit.
- Any parts sticking out (e.g. wings of a chicken) should be held in with a toothpick, a piece of string or other suitable means. This ensures that no part of the food can protrude or come off during the cooking process.
- Inserting and removing the rotating spit:
- Place the loaded spit onto the handle assembly. Ensure that the spit is safely supported in the recesses in the handle.
- Slide the spit end-piece with the drive unit connection into the drive unit (see picture II).
- Place the idle end of the spit into its holding bracket on the opposite side (see picture I).
- To remove the rotating spit, follow these steps in reverse order.
Using the hot-plates
- Always place a pot / saucepan on the hot-plate first.
- Large hot-plate: Set the 7-position switch to the required temperature.
- Small hot-plate: Set the temperature control to the required temperature.
- Use the timer to select the desired cooking time.
- With one or both hot-plates switched on, the indicator lamp is lit.
- To ensure optimal heat distribution, only use pots / saucepans with flat bottoms. .
- Always make sure that the pot / saucepan used is of at least the same diameter as the plate; this minimises the loss of heat.
- After use, set the controls back to OFF or to 0, and remove the plug from the wall socket.
Cleaning and care
- Before cleaning the appliance, ensure it is disconnected from the power supply and has completely cooled down.
- To avoid any risk of electric shock, do not clean the appliance with liquids or immerse it in a liquid.
- Do not use abrasives, harsh cleaning solutions or spray-type oven cleaners.
- The exterior housing and the door may be cleaned with a damp, lint-free cloth.
- After cooking a chicken, ensure that any fat that may have dripped onto the lower heating elements is completely removed using a damp cloth.
- The crumb tray, baking tray and rack, rotating spit and holding clamps may be cleaned using hot water and a mild detergent.
- After use, a wet cloth may be used to remove any spills from the plates.
- Following a longer period of use, a special commercially available cleaning agent should be used to treat the plates.
- You can remove the inner panel of the glass door to make it easier to clean.
- To do this, loosen the 4 screws and remove the 2 metal brackets.
- Take out the glass panel with its seal.
- Clean the panel and dry it well.
- When putting the panel back in place, make sure that the side with the light black border on the glass panel is facing downwards (finger test).
