Product Usage Instructions

Step 1: Unpack

1. Lift out the accessories and set them aside.
2. Remove the cardboard and foam packing.

Step 2: Set in Place

1. Lift the inserter by its handles and place it on a flat surface (recommended to have assistance).
2. If you have the optional second sheet feeder, position the inserter on it.

Step 3: Connect and Turn On

1. Connect the power cord.
2. Switch the power ON using the switch on the back panel. The display should show READY after a few seconds.

Step 4: Change Display Language

1. Turn on the machine and simultaneously press and hold the no and yes keys on the control panel until “Password” appears.
2. Scroll using the no key until you reach your desired language. Press Menu/Enter to select.
3. Turn the machine off and on to apply the language change.

Step 5: Check the Moistener

1. Slide open the moistener tray.
2. Fill the moistener with water or FP seal-IT.

Q: Can I install the machine without the optional second sheet feeder?
A: Yes, you can install and use the FPi 1000 system without the optional second sheet feeder. Simply follow the provided instructions skipping any steps related to the feeder.

Follow the instructions in this guide to get your FPi 1000 system setup and running. Included in this guide are instructions for the following:

• Unpack
• Set in place
• Connect / Turn On
• Change display language
• Check the moistener
• Load envelopes
• Load sheets
• Setup
• Run a test piece

IMPORTANT : If you purchased the optional second sheet feeder, unpack it and position it on the desktop BEFORE you follow these instructions.

Installation Guide

Step 1: Unpack

• Lift out the following accessories and put them to one side:
  • Test paper and envelopes
  • Power Cord
• Remove the cardboard and foam packing.

Step 2: Set in Place

1. Lift the inserter by its handles and place it on a flat surface.
   SAFETY NOTICE!

2. Lift the inserter only by its lifting handles

3. Lift correctly (bend knees and keep back straight)

4. The inserter weighs about 38 lb (17.5 kg) – it is recommended you get help to lift it

5. If you have the optional second sheet feeder, position the inserter on that feeder now.

Step 3: Connect and Turn On

1. Connect the power cord.

2. Switch the power ON.
   (The power switch is on the back panel next to the power cord.)
   After a few seconds, the display shows READY.
   SAFETY NOTICE!

3. Locate the system close to a power socket

4. Use the power cord supplied

Step 4: Change Display Language

1. Turn the machine on and at the same time press and hold the no and yes keys on the control panel. The word Password appears.
2. Press the no key until 99 appears. (If you scroll past 99, press the yes key to scroll back.)
3. Press the Menu/Enter key.
4. Press the no key until you see your language.
5. Press the Menu/Enter key to select the language.
6. Turn the machine off and on. The language is now set. The machine boots up at the next step in your setup, which is Check the Moistener.

Step 5: Check the Moistener

1. Slide the moistener tray open
2. Fill the moistener with water or FP seal-IT.
3. Slide the moistener tray closed.

NOTE : It takes about five minutes for the moistener to get fully wet and ready for use. You can continue setting up the machine during this time

Step 6: Load Envelopes

Use the test paper and envelopes to practice using the system and to make sure that system is working correctly.

1. Fan test envelopes marked with the letter B.
2. Tap the stack of envelopes to align edges.
3. Place envelopes in feeder B – RIGHT WAY UP and FACING YOU.
4. Use blue handles at the rear of the guides to move them. Slide the side guides until they just touch the envelopes.
5. If guides are too tight, envelopes may stall.
6. If they are too loose, envelopes may skew

Step 7: Load Sheets

1. Fan the stack of sheets test sheets that are marked with A1.
2. Tap the stack to align the edges.
3. Place the stack of sheets in feeder A1, FACE DOWN and BOTTOM EDGE FIRST.
4. Push the backstop in until it just touches the stack of sheets.

IMPORTANT:

• Always fan (aerate) sheets before loading.
• Always load sheets FACE DOWN and BOTTOM EDGE FIRST

Step 8: Setup

The selection keys on the control panel enable you to turn feeders and job options on and off. Pressing the keys repeatedly scrolls through the options available on your system. When you have made a selection, the associated LED indicator on the control panel turns green.

To select feeders and activate options:

1. Press the Feeder A1 selection key until the Feeder A1 LED turns green.
2. Press the Envelope Feeder B selection key until the Envelope Fdr B LED turns green.
3. Press the Seal selection key until the Seal LED tuns green

Step 9: Run a Test Piece

1. Press the Trial Piece button.
2. If the trail piece checks out ok, press Start.
3. Press Stop to stop processing.

NOTE : The trial piece will not be sealed so you can check the contents of the envelope. This is normal. The counter will show the number of items processed.

Step 10: Congratulations

• Your FPi 1000 is now ready to use. There is a slot on the top right side of the cover (shown in the image here) to store the FPi 1000 Operator Guide.
• This guide explains how to use your new system.
• If you experience any problems installing your equipment, please refer to the “Troubleshooting” section in the FPi 1000 Operator Guide.
