IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
To reduce the risk of electric shock, fire or injury, always follow these
safety precautions:

Read all instructions.

Do not touch hot surfaces.

To protect against risk of electrical shock, do not immerse the cord, plugs, or toaster in water or other liquid.

Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.

Unplug from the outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow cooling before handling.

Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions or when it has been damaged in any manner. Return the appliance to the dealer for examination, repair, or adjustment.

Do not use outdoors.

Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner or a heated oven.

Do not insert oversized foods, metal foil packages or utensils into a toaster as they may create a fire or electrical hazards.

A fire may occur if the operating toaster is covered or touching inflammable material including curtains, draperies, walls etc.

Do not clean with metal scouring pads. Pieces can break off the pad and touch electrical parts, creating electrical hazards.

Do not use the toaster for anything than the intended use.

Do not use any other appliance at the same time in the same electrical circuit as it may overload the circuit and blow the fuse or circuit breaker.

This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge unless they
have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. -
Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

Only connect the appliance to the alternate current power supply with voltage as specified on the nameplate (grounding outlet).

Appliances are not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate remote-control system.
USE & CARE
Before first use, make sure all packaging materials have been removed from the
toaster. Check-in toaster slots no packaging materials is left inside.
NOTE: Do not place any bread in the toaster during the first toasting to
allow the new elements to preheat and burn off any dust which may have
accumulated during assembly.
- Make sure the crumb tray is in place and the bread carriage is in the up position.
- Set up the toaster on flat, firm countertop surface away from the edge and at least 3 inches away from the wall or rear of the counter.
- Unwind the power cord and plug the power cord into a nearby outlet.
- Insert slices of bread. Be sure the bread carriage lever is in the up position.
- Turn the light/dark selector to the desired position. The higher the number (1-6) the darker the toast color.
- Press the bread carriage lever down until it locks into position.
- When the toasting cycle is completed, the toast is automatically ejected up. To interrupt toasting before the toasting cycle has been completed, simply press the cancel button.
- After toasting, unplug the toaster from the outlet.
TOASTING NOTES
Toasting is a combination of cooking and drying the bread. Moisture levels
differ from one bread to another, which can result in varying toasting times.
- For slightly dry bread, use a lower light/dark setting than normal.
- For fresh bread or whole wheat, use a higher setting than normal.
- Bread with very uneven surfaces (such as English muffins) will require a high light/dark setting.
- Thickly cut pieces of bread (including bagels) will take longer to toast, sometimes significantly longer, since more moisture must be evaporated from the bread before toasting can occur.
- Very thick pieces may require two cycles.
- When toasting raisins or other fruit bread, remove any loose raisins from the surface of the bread before placing it into the toaster. This will help prevent pieces from falling into the toaster or sticking on the guard wire in the slot.
- Before toasting bagels, slice each beagle into two equal halves.
- Single slice toasting: if you are toasting a single slice of bread, set the light/dark selector lighter than normal. The toaster is designed to heat to whole toasting chamber for two slices. By reducing the toasting time for a single slice it will not be over-toasted.
- Frozen bread: frozen waffles, pancakes, French toast, and frozen bagels should be warmed using the defrost button.
- Pastries: exercise caution when toasting pastries. The filling can become quite hot long before the surface of the pastry becomes brown.
DEFROST BUTTON
The defrost button is designed to first defrost and then toast the bread, which extends the toasting cycle slightly.
- Turn the light/dark selector to the desired position: Setting 1-2: refrigerated bread and thinner frozen items such as frozen pancakes. Setting 3-4: pastries, frozen waffles, thin French toast, and refrigerated bagels. Setting 5-7: Thicker frozen items such as bagels, hand-cut bread, and thick French toast
- Press the bread carriage lever down until it locks into position.
- When the cycle is complete the bread carriage will raise up the toast. If you wish to stop the defrosting before it is finished, simply press the cancel button.
REHEAT BUTTON
- Insert slices of bread.
- Press the bread carriage lever down until it locks into position.
- Press the reheat button.
- When the cycle is complete the bread carriage will raise the toast up.
- If you wish to stop the toasting before it is finished, simply press the cancel button.
Once the bread has been toasted to the preset color, the carriage handle will automatically pop up.
CAUTION:
- Remove all protective wrapping prior to toasting.
- If the toaster starts to smoke, press Cancel to stop toasting immediately.
- Avoid toasting food with extremely runny ingredients such as butter.
- Never attempt to remove bread jammed in the slots without unplugging the toaster from the electrical outlet first. Be sure not to damage the internal mechanism or heating elements when removing bread.
- The bread slot is only applicable for toasting regular bread slices.
CLEANING THE TOASTER
Always disconnect the toaster from the outlet and allow it to cool.
The Crumb Tray should be cleaned often to avoid the build-up of crumbs.
How to clean the Crumb Tray:
- Unplug the toaster from the wall outlet and allow it to cool.
- Hold the toaster upright over a waste bin. Slide out the Crumb Tray and empty.
- Wipe the tray with a slightly damp cloth. To remove stubborn spots, use a nylon or plastic scouring pad dampened in soapy water and squeezed nearly dry.
- Dry the Crumb Tray thoroughly before sliding it back into position. Ensure that the tray is fully slotted back into place before operating the toaster.
IMPORTANT: When cleaning outside surfaces, do not use a scouring metal pad or abrasive material to clean the toaster as scratching may occur.
CAUTION: Never immerse the toaster in water or any liquid.
