GENERAL INFORMATION
CONNECTEDRIDE NAVIGATOR
- We are pleased that you have chosen the ConnectedRide Navigator.
- The new ConnectedRide Navigator can be connected to the motorcycle with the SA navigation preparation. The 5.5-inch touchscreen display enables intuitive operation of the functions. The display has a circular polarization filter to avoid reflections caused by e.g. B. to minimize sun exposure.
- With the help of the BMW ID, your personal data such as routes, waypoints, etc. are synchronized between the app and the navigator.
- While driving, you can control the navigator using the Multicontroller without taking your hand off the handles. Since your smartphone is seamlessly integrated, media streaming offers can be used with ease. The ConnectedRide
- Navigator can be connected to up to two communication systems, e.g. B. ConnectedRide ComU1 can be connected to receive navigation voice prompts and receive or make calls.
- Vehicle-specific information as well
- The ConnectedRide Navigator can record details of the routes driven and display them afterwards.

BLUETOOTH
Bluetooth is a short-range radio technology. Bluetooth devices transmit as
short range devices in the license-free ISM frequency band (Industrial,
Scientific and Medical Band) between 2.402 GHz and 2.480 GHz. They may be
operated worldwide without a permit.
Note on wireless connections:
Although Bluetooth is designed to establish connections that are as robust as
possible over short distances, interference is possible, as with any wireless
technology. Connections can be disturbed or briefly interrupted or even lost
completely. In particular, if several devices are operated in a Bluetooth
network, smooth operation with such radio technology cannot be guaranteed in
every situation.
FIRST STEPS

Switch on the ConnectedRide Navigator: press button 1.

CONNECT CONNECTEDRIDE NAVIGATOR TO MOBILE NETWORK
To use the BMW Motorrad ConnectedRide Navigator in the mobile network requires
a SIM card. The network provider may incur additional costs for the use of
mobile data.
In addition to a WLAN connection, the ConnectedRide Navigator can also be
connected to the mobile network:
- Install the SIM card in the SIM card holder with the battery removed.
- Install SIM card.
- The SIM card function can be activated via the settings under the system settings.
- If a SIM card is inserted, the active connection with a mobile network is displayed here.
SECURELY MOUNT THE CONNECTEDRIDE NAVIGATOR
- The BMW Motorrad Mount Cradle is not included in the scope of ten. Further information is available from a BMW Motorrad partner.
- The Mount Cradle’s security system does not provide protection against theft.
After each trip, remove the navigation system and keep it safe.
- Turn vehicle key 1 counterclockwise.
- Pull locking device 2 to the left.
- Press in lock 3.
- Mount Cradle is unlocked and Cover 4 can be removed with a forward twisting motion.
FIRST STEPS
- Slide locking device 2 all the way to the right. Lock 3 is locked.
- Turn vehicle key 4 clockwise.
- Navigation device is secured and vehicle key can be removed.
REMOVE CONNECTEDRIDE NAVIGATOR AND INSTALL COVER
DANGER
Dust and dirt on contacts of Mount Cradle Damage to the contacts
After completing each ride, reinstall the cover.
- Turn vehicle key 1 counterclockwise.
- Pull locking device 2 all the way to the left.
- Latch 3 is unlocked. Slide lock 3 all the way to the left.
- Navigation device 4 is unlocked.
- Remove the navigation device 4 with a downward movement of the head.
- Insert cover 1 in the lower area and swivel upwards in a rotating movement.
- The cover clicks into place with an audible click. Slide locking device 2 to the right.
- Turn vehicle key 3 clockwise.
- Cover 1 is secured.
SERVICE
CONNECTEDRIDE NAVIGATOR FUNCTIONS
In addition to navigation, the BMW Motorrad ConnectedRide Navigator also
offers other features such as B. playing music via the navigator or via a
paired mobile phone. Driven routes can be recorded and subsequently displayed
with all relevant information. All functions can be selected via the main
menu.
INSTALL BMW MOTORRAD CONNECTED APP
The BMW Motorrad Connected app is available for free download for iOS and
Android smartphones in the relevant app stores.
The app can be downloaded with the following QR code.
Various connectivity functions can be selected in the BMW Motorrad Connected
app, which are available in conjunction with BMW Motorrad accessories.
The BMW Motorrad Connected App can be used in Connection to the ConnectedRide
Cradle can be operated via the Multicontroller while driving.
CONNECTEDRIDE NAVIGATOR UPDATES
With the ConnectedRide Navigator you have lifetime free maps/ such as software
updates.
Software Updates
BMW Motorrad provides software updates for the ConnectedRide Navigator at
regular intervals. In order to be able to use the ConnectedRide Navigator and
all its features optimally, it must be regularly updated to the latest
version.
Map update
BMW Motorrad provides the latest maps on the ConnectedRide Navigator. Map
updates are free to download.
CONNECTEDRIDE NAVIGATOR OPERATING OPTIONS
The ConnectedRide Navigator offers two operating options:
- Operation via touch display operation über
- Multicontroller on the motorcycle
- In order to operate the ConnectedRide Navigator via the multi-controller on the motorcycle, this must be connected to the BMW Motorrad navigation bracket.
OPERATING THE CONNECTEDRIDE NAVIGATOR
- When the ConnectedRide Navigator is connected to the motorcycle, you can switch between operating the Navigator and the motorcycle instrument cluster. The operating focus change is described in the vehicle operating instructions.
- Only the latest version of the BMW Motorrad communication system is supported. A software update for the BMW Motorrad communication system may be necessary. In this case, please contact your BMW Motorrad partner.
- If the BMW Motorrad ConnectedRide Navigator is installed and the operating focus has switched to the navigator, some of its functions can be operated directly from the handlebars.
- If the ConnectedRide Navigator is connected, all connections on the vehicle are automatically disconnected and re-established via the Navigator. The navigation, media and telephone functions are now controlled via the navigator.
The navigation system is operated using the multi-controller 1 and the MENU rocker switch 2.
Rotate Multi-Controller 1 up and down

Switch operating focus to the motorcycle’s instrument cluster.
CONNECTEDRIDE NAVIGATOR BASIC SETTINGS
Certain basic settings are stored by default when you start the ConnectedRide
for the first time.
In the system settings, e.g. For example, the following settings can be made: language, units, screen brightness
CONNECTEDRIDE NAVIGATOR SET LANGUAGE
When you first start the navigator, English is set as the system language by
default. The system language can be set as follows:
- Select Settings, Device, System, Language from the menu.
- Click on the language you want. System language now changes to the selected language.
CUSTOMIZE CONNECTEDRIDE NAVIGATOR UNITS
The ConnectedRide Navigator can specify dimensions in different units. It is
possible to switch between the metric and imperial systems. Adjust units:
- Select Settings, Device, System, Units from the menu.
- Set distance, pressure and temperature units as desired.
- Should the default units be adopted by the motorcycle:
- Select Apply unit settings from Bike.
CONNECTEDRIDE NAVIGATOR ADJUST SCREEN BRIGHTNESS
If the ConnectedRide Navigator is connected to the motorcycle, the brightness is determined by the motorcycle. Manual input is not necessary.
If desired, the automatic setting can be deactivated in the display settings and a custom setting can be selected in stages:
- Select menu item Settings, Device, System, Display
- Disable/enable automatic screen brightness
- If necessary, set in increments from 0 to 10
LINK CONNECTEDRIDE NAVIGATOR WITH BMW ID
- In order to be able to use all functions to their full extent and to save routes and other data, the ConnectedRide Navigator must be linked to a BMW ID.
- Select menu item Settings, My BMW ID.
- BMW ID already exists:
- Select login and fill in the login data.
- No BMW ID yet:
- No BMW ID yet? choose. Automatic forwarding to create a BMW ID.
CONNECTEDRIDE NAVIGATOR TO WIFI
To use certain functions, such as e.g. B. to download system updates, the
ConnectedRide Navigator must be connected to the internet. This can be done
via a WLAN connection or via the mobile network with an appropriate SIM card.
The connection to a WLAN network is described below:
- Menu item Settings, Device, System and select WiFi.
- The ConnectedRide Navigator automatically searches for WLAN networks in the area.
- Select WiFi network
Connection to a secure network:
- Press button to enter password.
- The keypad automatically appears on the ConnectedRide Navigator’s touch display.
- Enter the password and confirm with Next.
CONNECT THE CONNECTEDRIDE NAVIGATOR TO A BLUETOOTH DEVICE
Pre-condition
The device to be connected and the ConnectedRide Navigator must not be more
than 10 m apart.
The ConnectedRide Navigator can be connected to the rider/pillion helmet, mobile phone and other BMW Motorrad ConnectedRide accessories via the Connectivity Hub.
- Activate Bluetooth on the device to be connected and make it visible to other devices.
- Open ConnectedRide Navigator App Hub and select Connect new device. Select which device should be connected: Smartphone, driver helmet, passenger helmet, accessories ConnectedRide Navigator automatically starts a search for devices in the area.
- Select desired device.
CONNECTEDRIDE APPS

So that the ConnectedRide Navigator can display vehicle-specific data and information, it must have the Mount Cradle GPS mount must be connected to the motorcycle.

The ConnectedRide Navigator offers the option of reading out and displaying vehicle-specific information and data. The ConnectedRide Navigator can display live data while driving as well as information about the tours driven.
With the help of location determination, the ConnectedRide Navigator can display relevant weather data as well as points of interest on driven and planned routes. -
The ConnectedRide Navigator can be connected to a communication system, e.g. B. the ConnectedRide ComU1 can be connected to listen to navigation voice prompts and multimedia audio files on the navigator. When connected to a communication system, a mobile phone can be connected to receive or make calls.
NAVIGATION
START NAVIGATION
To start the navigation: select the menu
item Navigation.
There are various ways of starting navigation:
- magnifying glass icon* Address Input to search or enter addresses.
- Flag icon* Last Destinations, to select the last entered destinations again.
- Star icon* Favorites to quickly select destinations or routes previously defined as favorites.
- Route icon* Routes to plan and customize routes.
CONNECTEDRIDE NAVIGATOR POINTS OF INTEREST (POI)
The maps loaded on the ConnectedRide Navigator contain points of interest
(POIs), e.g. B. restaurants, hotels, car services and street information.
Categories can be used to search for nearby shops or attractions. It is also
possible to search for addresses, coordinates, towns and intersections.
POIs are displayed at the start/end point and along the route.
POIs can be switched on/off or configured in the Map Settings menu item under
Map Show POIs.

SET ROUTE PREFERENCES
After entering an address, the route can be edited or preferences can be
selected via the Map settings menu item.
Various criteria are available:
- Fast: Shortest travel time, even if the route may be longer
- Short: Shortest route with the shortest distance
- Efficient: Most efficient, fuel-saving route Winding,
- Low: Route with few curves Winding,
- Medium: track with an increased number of curves
- Winding, High: Winding track
The ConnectedRide Navigator can calculate routes that contain many curves or scenic roads, but no freeways and cities. Routes created with this function can offer more driving pleasure, but the time or distance to the destination may be longer.
Certain sections of the route or route can also be avoided:
- Highways toll
- Roads
- Ferry
- Tunnel
CUSTOMIZE ROUTE PREFERENCES
Customize route type:
- Select the Settings menu in the Navigation app. General preferences such as e.g. traffic volume, auto zoom etc.
- Select the Route type sub-item. Route type according to preference e.g. B. Choose Fast, Short, Efficient etc. Avoiding certain routes:
- Select the Settings menu in the Navigation app. Select the Avoid sub-item.
- Routes or route sections to be avoided, e.g. Select motorways, toll roads, etc.
DEVICE INFORMATION AND TROUBLESHOOTING
CONNECTEDRIDE NAVIGATOR DEVICE INFORMATION
Device information such as Serial number, data protection or terms of use can
be found under Settings, Information.
CONNECTEDRIDE NAVIGATOR CARE AND CLEANING
- Do not store ConnectedRide Navigator in places where the Navigator is exposed to very high or very low temperatures for a long time.
- Do not operate the ConnectedRide Navigator touch display with hard or sharp objects.
Care
The ConnectedRide Navigator contains sensitive electronic components. These
can be permanently damaged by severe shock or vibration that is not due to
normal motorcycle use. The risk of damage can be reduced if the ConnectedRide
Navigator is not dropped and is not exposed to strong shocks or vibrations.
Cleaning
- Do not use chemical cleaning agents or solvents can damage these plastic parts. Cleaning agents with a high alcohol content can also damage plastic parts.
- When cleaning with a damp cloth, switch off the ConnectedRide Navigator and disconnect from the power supply.
- Clean the housing of the ConnectedRide Navigator with a clean, slightly damp cloth and then dry it.
- Use a soft, lint-free cloth (if necessary a microfiber cloth) to clean the touchscreen. If the touch display is heavily soiled, slightly dampen a cloth.
CONNECTEDRIDE NAVIGATOR TROUBLESHOOTING
Problems with locating the position or GPS problems:
- Bring ConnectedRide Navigator outside and hold position for a few minutes.
Problems loading
- Check that the battery is seated correctly. Temperature range not exceeding max 50 °C and min 0 °C.
- If the power is supplied by the motorcycle: check that the ConnectedRide navigator is seated correctly on the Mount Cradle navigator holder.
- Bei Stromversorgung über Motorrad: Si-cherungen am Motorrad überprüfen.
Reset the ConnectedRide Navigator:
- Select Settings, Device, System, Factory Reset menu.
- When resetting the ConnectedRide Navigator, all settings are reset to the factory settings. Personalized settings must be made again after the reset.
- ConnectedRide Navigator is reset to factory settings.
- If the troubleshooting listed above is unsuccessful and there is still a problem with the ConnectedRide Navigator:
- Contact a specialist workshop, ideally a BMW Motorrad partner.

It is recommended to recharge the battery at a ambient temperature between 0℃
and 50℃ . To optimize battery life, only use the battery and charger supplied.
Risk of explosion if battery is replaced by an incorrect type.
Dispose of used batteries according to the instructions.
Do not destroy the batteries and power cables.
Do not attempt to disassemble the battery by yourself, nor charge the battery
in too high or too low extreme temperatures, and low air pressure at high
altitude, to avoid that may result in an explosion or the leakage of flammable
liquid or gas.
